I could write a book on this subject! It would be called Rogue Customers! I recently went to quote on a job miles away from my home which was a recommendation from this woman’s electrician who happens to be s good mate of mine. Spent ages there and gave her all the best advice! She says thanks and when can I start. I tell her but to look at the quote first. I send the quote and next day says her sister is now going to get her another price! I’m always of the opinion that I’m doing the job or I’m not but sometimes you just feel a bit insulted! Also people just think you are doing it as a hobby you have and its pocket money. One said to me what you going to spend the money on! I said its my wages to pay my bills.
yeah never have had a call back from a insurance quote either probably out of 60 and some of them were quite a treck for nothing and woodwork when you say it will take a 3-4 days or visits for staircase etc for oil finishes they look at you like your mental they either want a quote from a decorator or they dont makes my bloody blood boil.
I've been Decorating for 25 years and actually can paint a room in a day now. The quality of the work will be basic, 30 mins prep, no taping up just filling significant damages, one coat Dulux paint on ceiling and walls, even if it needs 2 coats it can be done. Wood work very lightly sanded, undercoated and one coat Dulux satin. Done. Room size : approx 12m2 30 mins - 1 hour prep - clean/fill/sand 30 mins covering furniture and tidying before and after 1 hour - 2 coats on ceiling 3 hours - 2 coats on walls 1 hour - undercoat and one coat satin 1 hour - waiting time (drying time) 30 mins - breaks in total Total time on site 8 hours I will charge overheads on top (travel time, insurance, car usage, materials, tools) Like the guy in the video says, you get what you pay for and using your own materials speeds things up a lot. Ideally I would give myself around 10 hours to do a room and charge all of the above plus 50% profit.
Great advice buddy . Another one where the customer hovers over you standing watching. Or old people who just wont company and sit and slobber make tea yea that's nice but you dont no money and it dont pay the Bill's. Great vid keep them comeing I myself have been in the trade 30 odd years and been there seen it and heard the lot.
