There in no such thing as animal whisperer. There are educated equestrians who know how to read the horse language, and there are equestrian who don't know. Everyone that is involved with horses should know the basic of it. The horse was just nervous for whatever reason and the guard calmed him down, really nothing special, everyday business for horse people.
@@rebeccaabbondanzieri2484 Not true that it was nervous, more like its getting sick or it has a sore on its back from the saddle that is hurting , Horses don't start neighing like that for no reason and laying its ears back throwing its head around ! ! And I can tell ur not a horse person !!!
All the programs I have seen the guards are protecting of the horses. The love between them is plain to see.Beautiful animals like the horses should be protected.Thank you to the guard ,who took care of your horse.
What an excellent Trooper, he stayed to calm reassuring his horse. His horse was fretting because he was alone out there. Horses love and need their routine and if something is different, like going out alone it can really upset them. ❤
Horses are a herd animal and many find it difficult to be on their own . It therefore can take a while for them to gain confidence in their rider . The guard on top doing a great job to reassure his mount
The soldiers have more patience than me, this horse was clearly upset at not having a herd member beside it in the other arch. Yet no matter how much he tells tourists to keep their distance, they ignore him and try talking to the horse, like they think they are the next horse whisperer who will save the day.🙄 Omg give me strength they really need to block full access to all tourists. The constant petting and grabbing the reins are beyond annoying for me and I'm just watching, it's got to be worse for the soldiers and horses. 😮💨
Horses are so smart. This beauty knew he shouldn't be out there alone! Calmed right down when his buddy arrived. Great guard, understanding this and trying to reassure his mount that all will be well.
I believe you're right about that, soon as the other horse was visable the horse was calm. he was definitely calling for the other one, probably worried.
Ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, das es eine gute Idee ist,so kleine Kinder dort hinzu bringen. Wenn das Pferd vor Panik durchgegangen wäre....hätte es sicherlich mehr als "nur" verletzte gegeben. Verantwortungslos!!!!!!
Some horses become so dependent on their pasture or stable mates. It's a real problem in some. Also this horse may have been a stallion up until 3-6 weeks ago. Though admittedly he's not neighing like a stallion. Young and insecure. I noticed there's no horse in the other post.
I think the horse was nervous about being the only horse out there…after the other horse arrived he seemed to calm down. Nice job by the rider keeping him calm
Excellent riding! He sat quietly and still, not messing about trying to get the horse to stand super still whilst the it’s stressed ( perfect example of picking your battles, good job sir!) and still he managed to comfort him the horse by stroking it’s neck and keeping the public safe by telling them to keep behind the bollards (shame not all of them had the common sense to listen to him!!). Well done that guardsman!
These guards know their horses so well, this guard has always be gentle as all the others are. I’ve never seen him yank the reins, I have seen him control the horse with a slightly stronger pull. Don’t try to undermine our boys and girls.
Thanks Abdullah great video i love watching this trooper he has such character like most of the others of course and he was wise to keep the kids away, respect and love to all the troopers and horses.
He didn’t stop reassuring his horse all the way through this vid,so lovely to see. And the way he warned the teacher not to let the children come near an obviously anxious horse, well done sir ❤️
Agreed. Wonder if this is a relatively new horse to this horrible duty. Noise sensitive, calling to his buddies. Agree this trooper did a great job calming him and avoiding an incident. But I HATE watching them get surrounded by hoards, treated like a petting zoo and background for stupid people taking stupid photos. Think they should be off limits for touching without specific permission. And these disappointed tourists being called off would be the first ones to holler if something happened. UGH! Love the horses and guards, hate the dumb people.
Some people have no idea how horses can be unpredictable. They put themselves and their little ones so close to a horse in distress for a damn photograph. It’s dumbfounding. Selfishness that the only thing important is their want of a picture. This particular horse was showing all warning signs of not being comfortable.
I am impressed with this guard. Maybe someone told him of our comments about him because this is a new, more gentle guard. He should press the buzzer and get some help.
Any comments about that Guard just doing his job aren't right. He's just looking out for his horse. HR knows what upsets him etc., if you write users don't get that than screw yiu.
@@dianekruger5977 i wasn't speaking about today but in past he has yanked on the reins and used his spurs too much. But today he is marvellous. If you don't know or understand what someone has said, why don't you ask instead of being snotty? I have watched these guards for a long time to see a huge difference in his actions with this horse. I am glad to see this. Have a nice day.
Perhaps someone should check the horses bit as it’s uncomfortable …these double bits are Severe on the horses mouth and very cruel, it only takes the slightest pressure on the reins to cause pain and although he appears to be stroking the horses neck to reassure it he is in fact causing pain,he is Still yanking the horses mouth, no wonder it is flinging its head about. Then the poor horse has to suffer abuse at the hands of “ Tourists “ .
@@penelopeverstege4475 Unless one was there to check hands on, just how could any commenters know for sure that that is an issue? Would all the stable carers, the riders and their superiors really allow anything to happen to the mounts in the form of bad fit out, I doubt it.
This is a distressed horse calling for his herd it isn't beautiful at all it is fear driven, they are a herd animal and hate being alone an not getting any reply
The only bit I caught was him telling the teacher not to bring the kids 'this way'. He was OK with them walking behind the barrier though in the orderly way in which they did.
I caught stay behind the bollards, and the the film show the defiant girl walking toward the horse, being told by teacher to get back, she didn't until the horse whinnied and she squealed and got back in the walking group.
Horses are horses. They can be unpredictable. Some days they have off days and he wishes to be with another horse. It’s not his bit or the guard. The guard is amazing with him. He also could be new and getting used to being there. 😊
Aww..poor sweet boy 🩵 so stressed over his buddy. When I was young, 2 of our mares were sisters and born of the same mare back to back. They were soo bonded We couldn't ride one with out taking the other out with. They would get so stressed. My Dad had sent the younger one offsite to be bred. She was gone for a couple of weeks Her sister was so upset. She cried and cried, wouldn't eat, kept getting out of the fence It was awful. Everyone was so happy when she returned 😂 Another note? Are these folks daft? The 2 women at the end..they could plainly see this horse was still stressed. The guard, his known friend, was doing the best he could to keep this boy calm. Those women were not helping at all 🤦♀️
The behavior of this horse shows exactly that even the most special guard horses, who never experience a normal horse life with green grass on large, lush pastures where they can really let off steam, retain their natural instincts and behavior. They absolutely need each other, probably more than horses with a normal equine life.
I really like this Guard, he has a great rapport with the horses & very wisely advises people to move their children back - yet still the school party allowed their charges to just wander everywhere 🙄
It's obviously hearing another horse, horses in our fields near us where doing it the other day, shouting from one field to the next, or its a relatively new guardsmans horse. 👍❤️ Gorgeous anyhow. It's hearing something by the position of it ears.
He does NOT like being alone out there. His instincts tell him that the horse left alone is usually eaten by a predator. The Guard did a great job working with him and reassuring him.
Maybe that's a newer younger horse not used to noisy obnoxious tourists that have to rub their noses, necks and shoulders row, or pull on the reins, or kids screaming at every little thing.
He/she calmed down a bit when the other horse came out, I presume he/she was calling for his/her mate, probably saying *you can’t stay in the stable and make me deal with all these tourists*
Yes apparently theyre all Irish geldings, between 16 and 18 hands high. They are utterly stunning. Im so impressed with thr Guard. He really had a relationship with this beauty and it must be difficult stroke AND hold the rein in the one hand.
Horses have bad days too. These guys truly love their horses, as do I. I was thinking of joining this regiment, but joined another instead, big mistake, but that was 56 years ago. After all these years I still miss the army, as they say, once a soldier always a soldier. I had to leave the army having developed asthma.
Growing up around horses and learning from the older guys was a great experience. Always stay calm when dealing with upset horses. Speak in a calm voice and use a gentle but firm touch or stroke. Like people horses have bad moods and sick days. Stomach aches will really change a horse's mood. A sore mouth from the bite. This guard learned well about calming a horse. The horse obviously trusts the guard. Makes me wonder if the horse and guard are always together. I would hope that is the way of things.
The Guard was wise to/did calm down this seemingly agitated horse. It’s amazing that the woman with a very young child (maybe 2-3?) who, when reaching out & patting the horse’s neck seemed to calm him. The Horse Guardsman should be commended for his actions. Even horses can wake up cranky!
I'd like to see a strict, enforcable barrier between the King's guard and all tourists. The guards and horses should not have to endure the idiocy imposed by tourists. Leave the horses and guards alone. Let them do their duty
@@oxorox972 It's simply not possible there - it's a public pavement. Keep those on the pavement some distance away and they'd be walking in the road. The tourists are there because of the attraction - change the attraction and you don't get the tourists. If you don't have the tourists there's no point in them being there anymore. It really isn't a problem at all 99% of the time, and for that less than 1% it's clickbait. Out of around 400 minutes daily public duties at Horseguards, these sites are lucky to find a minute they can monetise with a clickbait title.
Horse also could be reating to the children. They are very loud and screaming. I think he calmed once the other horse came, and the children left so he feels much better
The average person or the non-horse person have no clue of how hard it is for the horse to stand their for hours on end, both physically and mentally. The guardsmen really do have their hands full during that whole time. Horses get bored easily when in their stalls for hours on end and they can move around in there. Standing in one spot tends to cause swelling in most horses so a lot of work and care goes into these noble animals to maintain their health. I feel for both the horse and the guardsmen for having to maintain this post. It is so not easy. God bless them all.
@@jacqiwilhite6080 Thanks I realized that after I wrote that. It is still hard to do that though. To just sit in the same spot for one whole hour and make your poor horse do the same and him on concrete. It is hard on their legs. It can cause swelling, but we do have stuff to conquer that. I wouldn't make it out there past ten minutes with those disrespecting asses before they hauled me back in. LOL
staying very calm is very difficult in many situations, but especially if you are a "guard" on a nervous horse.. I think the animal is lonely so he keeps hearing his voice regularly.. calm down but boy it will be fine animal, jeez that gaurd stays very calm and the horse calms down itself, I couldn't do that as a nervous type, I had only become more nervous.... Hopefully he got some company later that made him calm down a bit.. Well guys we all suffer from work pressure sometimes, unfortunately it's also part of work...
I understand very well why this horse is so restless, a whole class of noisy children walking right past you that would also make me restless but chapeau for the guard to relax his horse ❤
This horse is picking up something it doesn’t like. Like something bad. It’s body language says it all. The guard did a good job at assuring his horse calm.
Thank you for all you and your beautiful horse do and must endure with God knows how many hundreds are people who don't have the slightest clue unless an horse expert or lover with knowledge of giving him or her a break and staying away.
I feel the horse i mean he is probably already stressed out, irritated and frustrated with all them dumb ppl that just cant read a damn sign or under stand what it means to not touch. Horse deserves a good long rest.
At long last the tourists are using a bit of common sense and leaving the horse alone. Thanks to the teachers and parents of the little ones in blue for keeping them under control but allowing them to have a good look of the horse. Pity the police didn't go out and help though. Then of course someone had to pick up and little one and risk it followed by Crazy woman. Followed by more carrying young children.
I think someone needs to check the bit. The horse seems uncomfortable. Worried about him. Is the horse and the guard. Praying that you have a better day. God bless you both.
The horse probably got a glimpse of Horrible Harry. From what I understand he likes to torture horses . He dug his spurs into a pregnant horse and killed her.
nearly every time i see a horse gettin upset or antsy, there always seems to be a bit of an issue with their bridle...this one the left one is going into his mouth slightly.
The horse is upset from something, it could be a sent or the bit who knows. The guard is trying to keep his horse calm, a little rub goes a long way, better than breaking his post.
