I grew up w/dogs in my life. Rescued a wonderful pitty after my husband died - she's been w/me ever since. Can't imagine my life w/o her in it. I know how it is to love a dog more than people.
Sorry about your husband . My wife and I are going on 41 years . Three dogs and two cats over that span . The last dog we just got from a rehoming site . She’s a staffy lab mix just an adorable personality , very loving , but humans can’t play properly with her lol . We just let her run with 15 other dogs on the beach on Canada Day . My mom gave me my baby 🐾🐾 and 4 months later she was gone forever 😢 but he got me through a lot he's my whole heart and life and that fear of them breaking our hearts one day is something we definitely don't want 😢 I cherish every moment with my baby 🫶🏾🐾
They are so kind and would tell you to keep sharing the love. Breaks your heart to the core every time, but the rewards for you & the new baby are endless. God’s blessings
I understand completely. I go through the heartache every 12 years or so. It sucks. But totally worth it. Man best friend is one of life's greatest joys! Great post. You're better for knowing you're dogs love and loyalty!
I so hope you read this, you mentioned he came into your life in your 30s and will leave your life in your 40s. I really hope hope you think about this. I’ve always been a dog guy, I’ve had some incredible dogs who I still miss with all my heart. The end doesn’t justify your life together, don’t let it jade you into never getting another doggo. Take your time, comes to grips with it, then give another pupper his best life. We really don’t deserve them.

WFH today. Sitting on bed with laptop. My pupper is right beside me. 85# sharpei-pitmix. Got him from couple who lived in Bronx,NY when he was 4 months. He'll be 11 in December. Had recently lost a 16 year old angel pit-mix. House was too quiet.He's a momma's boy. Always get the heroes welcome. I have a magnet that says "be the person your dog thinks you are". I feel some of the same feelings for mine as you do… i have a St. bernard and she was my first dog… i wish i had discovered that i was a dog person earlier in life but im making the most of it now until im gone.

My dog found me in Feb 2023....i took him home because a friend of mine told me, "don't bring to the animal shelter, that's a death sentence"....my life has never been the same❤🐶......

Love pitbulls - yours is a beauty! I’ve had them my entire adult life. Every one of them was special. True friends that will always have a place in my heart. When Luther passed, I got a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, which is the equivalent of a midgit pitty - they have big heads with muscular little alligator arms!
I understand what you mean. Our daughter got a pitbull. Had it for 15 years, it completely changed my opinion of dogs. Now I couldn’t live without one.
Love them while they’re here . My son lost his best friend last week . I lost my two pups during covid . Seeing Eddie and chooch and their bond brought a tear to my eye again .
And women think they have the corner on parental love... some men love their dog or other pet with the same depth and intensity of any woman with her little baby..
My dog definitely awakened my soul. Beautifully said. I lost him in December 2023. He was almost 18 yo. I love him so much & right now I just can’t get another dog. …..so I got a PT job at a doggie daycare(along with my full time job). I adore every dog I take care of there. They bring me more joy than I ever imagined they would. I’m hoping I can adopt a rescue at some point in the future. In the meantime, I get to love 25-30 dogs for 6 hours straight, 3 days a week!! I am so grateful. ❤
