New "Caruso Knee Rehab Plan" is to just skate across America. Side effects may include chunked wheels, high slim jim intake, and propensity to say "yo" to livestock.
That was me in the black Subaru that yelled at you! I wouldn’t even walk 79, let alone skate it! It was great seeing you in the wild man, sorry I couldn’t stop! Wishing you safe travels on the rest of your trip!
Been sober from opiates and meth for about seven years and I started skating again about two years ago. I don't try anything crazy but I ride around with my dog and teach all the neighborhood kids how to kickflip and ollie. What you're doing is inspirational and I'm here for it man Just donated brother, vaya con dios
I am sooooooo proud of you!!! First for winning the battle over your addiction, wich certainly wasn’t easy, but also for stepping up back on your board !!!!! I send you tons of love from the south west of France.
hell ya brother. I am in a similar situation I also quit both up and down, and my dog is the only thing that kept me going through it all. I am so thankful to be here and people like you and Chad make me even more thankful so I salute you!
I quit smoking weed and drinking 2 days before you started your journey. Watching your progress has been helpful keeping my focus on sobriety. Thank you 🤘🏼😆🤘🏼
I was literally rubbing my stiff knee watching this... I just had surgery on April 22 and Went skating yesterday (5-12-23) for the first time in over a year and it felt great! Going to try and do a mile with ya on the last day! All your videos and IG posts have been such an inspiration to me over the last few weeks and now that i just watched this one, I'm going to get a quick sesh before the storms today! See you soon. The Dude.
I can't believe you are actually skating across America you really doing it...like as a Skater myself this is awesome to witness. Much respect brother!
Motion is lotion as far as pain is concerned! Keep pushing Chad! This is so inspirational man. I rode my bike 6 miles in the rain with my son instead of using the rain as an excuse to sit on the couch all thanks to you Chad!
I'm not sure I identify with you more, or less, because of my own issues with addiction, but I think your honest humanity comes across in the same way to most of us, genuine, humbling, and inspiring. I swear I'm going to remember 2023 as the year Chad skated across America till I die, and I bet I am not alone in the slightest. Also.."hopefully it's chocolate" LOL :)
I am proud to say, I Quit smoking the day/week you started this journey. I tried your no smokes and caffeine. Needed my coffee but after 35 years. I can say Thanks to you I AM CIGARETTE FREE. Such an inspiration and life changer. For real I didnt think I could kick that habit. Thank you.
This journey helped me realize my problem with smoking habits and I’m now two weeks sober. Weed may not seem like much to most people but this is a huge step for me so thank you Chad you’re awesome
I'm trying to stay sober from weed too so I feel you. Kinda gets irritating how people play it off as not being something you can be addicted to. We got this man!
That's great about your knee, and I think really good to hear for all of us skaters out there full of injuries, that perhaps strengthening won't make things worse but infact better
Dude, what an adventure! I am 46 and still skateboard. Big love to all the people who recognized you along the way and to everybody enjoying skateboarding. Take good care of yourself,Chad🤘
I've been watching since say 1. Definitely been an inspiration to get sober for myself. I'm definitely starting with buying a board to keep myself busy. Thanx Chad.
Congrats men I just started skating this year, I have horrible roads in Mexico City so seeing you push in shitty pavement in Texas was so motivating and remind me r that I just complain that much and embrace it . Thank you!
The main difference with the Appalachian mountains and the mountains you came from is the width. The mountains you have already passed were very steep and long but not very wide. The Appalachians are very wide so you will be going up and down and up and down. Just know once you get through the Mountains and Piedmont regions its all flat plains from there!
The cows mean muggin you and following you along fences have been hilarious. Its awesome how mind clearing this has been for you, I think a lot of viewers get some of that thru screen osmosis. Badass man!
Morning guys! Aight, it is day number 607! Pretty intense wind this morning as we have a blizzard crossing the Bering Strait! Coming to the tail end of our trip though and I could not be more stoked!
you put a smile on my face before i go to work everyday! Thank you for everything you've shared and learned on your journey, helped me out tons with my mindset.
When you were in Little Rock I enjoyed my ninth anniversary without booze. It took a lot of help from old timers (many named Bill) and others like yourself. I especially love hat you barely mention it, we learn from how you handle your affairs. Peace and yo.
thats crazy how your knee is improving, i feel like ive been having the same issue with my right knee feeling weak after 25 odd years of skating, but just recently i got a bike and im trying to put in the miles to help improve my knee strength,
It must be a great feeling to have a buddy from home with you this leg of the journey? This is my third time watching. I'm following Jay and Oreo currently 10/22/24. God Bless Chad ❣️
Keep pushing bro it's great thing that we live in a world where its relatively easy to document what your doing. MASSIVE Achievement so far dude. Good luck.
I've been watching your vids for years.Burnsider for decades, I'm 61.Mostly your tutorials I've been on a roller coaster of injuries for 4 years,3 on a clavicle 1 broken femur ,6 surgeries. I've been considering start a non profit to build a skatepark on my reservation & provide boards for native & low income kids & I WAS going to copy you,yes straight up copy you, by skating across Montana to raise $ & profile but broke my left heel @ Burnside (1st time in 3 years) yesterday so I might be done w/ skating period. Keep it up, you are an inspiration for many. Ive missed a couple of your episodes but I'll be watching them daily now. To quote an old guy band to you, REO Speedwagon, Keep pushing!
“Hopefully it’s chocolate” had me LOL. Gotta taste it to be sure. 😂. Dude, you are KILLIN’ it. Holy cow the tightness of those vehicles at the end. Keep your head up, don’t let your guard down, stay safe, keep pushing.
I came onto the trip around day 25 and you are such an inspiration this is so sick to witness I look forward to the uploads every day youre sick I hope nothin but safe travels
Damn, 2 weeks… oh man, I have been watching these videos since the beginning. What am I going to look forward to. Lol… oh here’s an idea. Skate back, yeah!!! Skate back. lol… just playing. lol. I’m sure you’re going to do something epic. 😁👍
I left the USA for Mexico in 2018 and it’s been a very positive experience. The last 5 years up in the states has been a little wild and it often saddens me to see the country I loved kinda falling apart. But watching this journey reminds me that so much media bullshit is out there, and at the end of the day when you’re down to American to American interaction… it’s all love ❤️. Thanks Chad for reminding me of the great part of the USA… the people ✌🏽 from 🇲🇽 🏄🏼
I haven’t skated in a few years but this past weekend I went out and just cruised on a road for about a mile or 2 and then back, wind was going against me until I turned and went back, man that was a work out on the legs! Couldn’t imagine doing such a big trip! Maybe a few years back I could but man I am just not conditioned anymore
Incredible journey my dude. Do us a favor and show us some more love with your morning and evening routine : ) Like a “full day in the life” kinda feel as you tackle the day/miles. Remember how awesome those were in 411? Sending high vibes from Phoenix.
Conditioning is awesome! You go anywhere and not get sweaty, super casual. Thank you brofessor, covid is when I stopped drinking, drinking was my mask and made me feel safe. With God, he is all I need. I’ve never been authentically happy before. Woo!
@@mohawkjoe64 he started to talk about our encounter but didn’t which I get because, safety and all. But I had just heard about him on the radio in my tractor in a field in the middle of nowhere and ten/fifteen minutes later, there he is just owning America on a skateboard. I had to stop him (like everyone else it seems lol) to tell him he was on Memphis radio. It was one of the coolest things that’s ever happened for me. 👍
Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
Really interesting what this kind of journey shows you about infrastructure development state to state: seems Texas has more rougher roads, Arkansas has good roads but dodgy power supply, Tennessee appears (given early evidence) to not be so into shoulders on their roads. Fascinating!
Glad to hear your knee is getting better! You're probably tearing the redundant scar tissue which is what needs to happen regain full movement. Learned this from Andy Anderson, who was taught by his Olympics team guy! You'll be 20 again by the end of the trip!
I've heard stories of people who tear their ACLs and their hamstrings get stronger to compensate. I'm sure in addition to the scar tissue breaking up that his muscles are helping provide stability that he might otherwise rely on ligaments to provide.
The shoulder gets better on 79 when your coming in to Mckenzie. From there you have a nice wide shoulder to skate all the way to Clarksville if you decide to stay on 79. God's speed brother
