I just read this the other day about getting old. Don’t let the old person in and you’ll always be young. You’re never too old to start something new or learn something new. I feel that you have the correct read on the state of the country, the need for becoming independent if need be, and love your location. Totally understand about the eagles and their meaningfulness to you. (My wife and I have the same affinity with blue herons!) Yay!!! I was right I said 300 trees in the video!! Love your videos and enjoy watching you both. So much fun to see how much a like you all are. I am independent as well. I was raised to get the job done, no matter how long it takes you. My dad was raised on a farm all his life, and worked very hard, and I grew up on the same farm where he was raised and we had four gardens, and worked them every year. We sold produce, eggs, pigs and chickens and raised our own feed for all the animals. So we didn’t set idle as kids. Sunday was a day of fun, we got to fish in the pond, and play ball and ride bikes. But six days a week we worked everyday after school and Saturday was garden day. So I know what you are saying about hard work.

Your comments on the political and social unbalances in today's world are spot on. My wife and I are in our 60's also and are both retired too. We have been blessed with the wherewithal to try to relax and enjoy this time in our lives. I'm not going to say it has not come without some bumps and scrapes along the way, but for the most part it has been a refreshing part to our journey. Covid was the catalyst that started on our path. We purchased an rv, and have made several lengthy trips around the country exploring and enjoying what God has created. What you are doing at this time in your life is commendable. It will keep you young at heart. Some day we will make it to your part of this country as that is on my bucket list of things to do. Blessings to you two on your journey. Safe travels.

Kim and Norm. We met you three years ago, at the GD Quartzsite rally. The one during Covid. We were new on the road, and didn’t know a single person. You guys showed up, and all of a sudden, I felt like I knew someone, cause we have watched all your videos. We got to know you through your videos. @@MountainBeaches Hello! Yes we were both raised in San Jose. My husband graduated from Leigh High School, I went to Live Oak High. We met at Robertsville Corners car wash on Almaden Expressay just after High School and have been together ever since. We lived in Boulder Creek for a few years, and moved to my grandparents ranch in Almaden just before our third child was born. We moved to Atwater, ( the Central Valley) where the Almonds are grown. We raised our children there, and moved to Jerseydale, Mariposa about 5 years ago. We are both retired and seeking the next adventure! Looking forward to meeting you both! 🔥💜

Just found your channel. You are speaking to me, as my husband & I are doing the same thing. We live in Ontario Canada & yes our country is in a mess too. So much uncertainty, division, feeling that something bad is about to happen anytime now, so we want to be prepared. We have land that we will be building a tiny house & we want to be as self efficient as possible. Growing most of our own food, so if the sh-- hits the fan we will be somewhat prepared. Northern Idaho has a lot of snow during winter. What are you going to do for electricity when snow covers the solar panels? Will they be mounted on the ground so you can easily clean them off? Or, do you plan to go south during the winter? Or simply have a propane generator for emergencies? What a great piece of land to build on. Think about putting in a couple RV pads for visitors to moochdock.

I just found your channel, no you are not crazy! At 56 and my wife 54 we sold everything in California and moved to Texas. Bought seven acres with a fixer upper house. I taught for two years then retired and started homesteading full time. I wouldn't trade my life now for anything. My wife still works at Lowes. We raise our own meat, have dairy goats and chickens. Martin Johnson had you as a guest on his channel. I was inspired by the project you took on at your age. I am also in my late 60s, but without a spouse. I also had once thought of off grid living when I was younger but never took the step to make it a reality. Instead I worked all my life to pay bills, and if I had only put away funds for land things may have been different. Tomorrow may never come so live for today is so true.

I don’t always comment but watch all of your videos. Because you’re always real. I really like watching your changes. I commented a few months ago. “ smart people doing smart things “. We also made huge changes in 2021 and left Ca. To Arkansas for retirement. Our family is here and it’s very safe here. Thank you for sharing your life. We’re in our 60’s also and you are a great inspiration.

So interesting, I agree with virtually everything you guys said 100%. I remember watching your channel when you had maybe 200 subscribers, because you guys were reviewing Grand Design fifth wheels, preparing/educating yourselves and your audience as you got ready to make your RV purchase. Well, maybe 3 years later, we finally bought our Grand Design fifth wheel just a few weeks ago. I also remember that you purchased yours at Bish's RV in Idaho, and you highly recommended them. We ended up purchasing ours at Bish's as well, even though it was a 400 mile trip for us (I remember that you highly recommended them, and that stuck with me). Now that we have done that, we all of the sudden started thinking we need to consider buying some land somewhere, for almost identical reasons to yours. It could still be a year or two out, but we are mostly looking in Idaho for land, we love the general area where you guys are at, but we are also looking at Eastern Idaho, or perhaps somewhere deep in Eastern Washington near the Idaho border (where it is a little cheaper, because we don't want to go into debt either). Anyway, keep up the great work, and we wish you all the best!

This resonates so much! I am so thankful we stumbled upon your channel. My husband and I sold everything in 2021 to simplify our lives and began our full-time RV journey with our then 2 year old. We, off the cuff, decided to make a trip to eastern Idaho and fell in love with the State. Our ultimate goal is to buy land in Idaho and begin a small homestead one day. I just subscribed, so watching your newest videos will be so helpful whenever that time arises. I hope things are going well for you both! ❤

Being a couple who have traveled around the US in a 5th wheel and then selling our home we are building a small home in the country and living off grid. I think living the life traveling in a tiny place sets you up for off grid. Good luck enjoy the new journey

You two are awesome. Your video was great and you both express yourselves well. You are responsible people….loved your stories. My husband and I both had good upbringings in SoCal suburbs. We built a house ourselves from scratch in Santa Barbara with little help. 4 years later we sold it and moved to country land in the Cascades of Oregon. We did a lot of off grid type of living but still had electric. We grew all our own food, heated with wood, raised kids. We were young and glad we did this…..it continued through our adult lives in other states we lived in. we retired in No. Idaho and changed lifestyles in Coeur d’alene, Idaho, needed a break. We understand your goals, makes sense. Maybe we got it backwards but we are in our mid 70’s, still active tho.

@@MountainBeaches We have lived up here 15 years, very little sun. We lived in Flagstaff , AZ before Idaho, a lot of sun but very cold winters at 7,000’ elevation. Maybe Bonner’s will be sunnier than CdA. In Oregon, it rained 9 months of the year in the Cascade mtns when we lived there.

@@musicmarlene in talking with friends that live up here, and also are on solar, they've told us not to expect much of any solar output from mid-December until mid-February. It then begins to ramp up again, but slowly. We'll learn as we go I guess. Thanks

Enjoying the channel. Love the nature. Would love to do the same when I retire. Currently we are in our early 50’s and our kids are just leaving high school. As for the country…or world, we’ve raised our kids to be kind to all, judge none, and to try and meet or learn about someone different than you each day. Recently my daughter has become friends with an immigrant from Lebanon who is a freshman in college like her. Wonderful young girl. Great to learn about others. And makes me grateful for the things we do have. Our country is not perfect. Needs to work on itself. Who knows where that will end. But hopefully one greeting at a time will make things better. In the interim I’m grateful to meet you. Blessings from Virginia.

That was nice, guys. Good to get refreshed on the background. Congrats on 45 years and 13 grandkids! You have us beat at 42 and 8. But I'd challenge you on the best kids 😂 We built our homestead 30 years ago. Our kids each have acreage in the country, we're all on wells and septics, kids are growing up with values, God is good! Yes about the current state of affairs but hope springs eternal. Seems like just the other day you were preparing to sell the family vineyard in California, but I expect that was before the authority grab. Blessings on your development there, may all go to plan and within budget. The hurtful reality is that now with our parents gone, time is drawing nigh for our kids to go through losing their parents. So every moment, every action, counts.

I do not think you are crazy. I have sold my house and have no place to go at 71. Friends think I have lost my mind. Tell them when I find the right place I will know it. I made a decision that the house was no longer a home since losing my spouse 4 years ago this week. It is time to move on and find something that makes me happy with some acreage. No more HOA🤣This is one of the reasons I love following you both. Yes looking for a small place to pay cash for. Agree no more debt. Love Eagle Ridge Resort and Spa. A place to feel inner peace❤️❤️
