you can throw it as a counter, sometimes even not a counter but when you catch the opponents timing and can catch him during his movement, but yes in general it's true
When you master the fundamentals you can break the rules. Floyd best punch is a right hand lead off a pull counter. No set up, just timing and accuracy.
@@DK-bm5rg yeah! Floyd has a great pull counter to his straight right and he also leads with his right hand extremely well. I’m just debunking what Faras is saying because you don’t always need to set up right cross behind jabs (it’s smarter to set up with a jab) Muhammad Ali started his infamous rumble in the jungle with 12! Right hand leads on Foreman! Landed most of them too!
Well, in this video at least, Coach Firas doesn’t say to setup with a jab. He just says throw after a “setup”. The example of Floyd throwing a lead right cross After a pull counter proves coach’s point: the setup is the pull counter. I’m also a longtime boxing spectator and agree with your overall statement though, of course. When you’re at the level of a Floyd or Inoue, you can break the rules. But tbh, seeing Inoue get knocked down on Monday was a reminder that it does all come back down to the fundamentals. He threw a cross unprotected and almost paid the fight for it.
@@garrusv he says it in the caption. Never throw without a jab setup. But as for the pull counter, it’s more of a trap Floyd is using by positioning his head slightly forward and then “pulling back” to counter. I feel Firaz was referring to an offensive set up with the jab and feints
It depends on the lead leg, not necessarily the type of hand. If your left leg is the lead, then the right hand is the cross. If your right leg is the lead, then your left hand is the cross. Outside of that the explanation is very informative.
Love the breakdown as the level of boxing in the MMA is getting much better but still very amateurish and wild so fighters just need to learn the good solid fundamentals AND why you are doing what you’re doing. A right cross is called a cross is because it travels across your punching area to wear the opponents head is expected to be and a Syraigjt right goes down the pipe 100% straight. Agree with the jab but also use the double jab with some guard manipulation and vary the speed and variance of your punches to stop your opponent getting a read on your rhythm. Best boxers in MMa are Dustin Porier, Max Holloway, Illa Topiria and Tom Aspinall who has a 67% accuracy
That's a big nope!! He's wrong, that's not the reason it's called a cross. It's a straight right hand. A cross is a counter punch which crosses over your opponents in coming jab.
Never is a bad word. If you always jab first you are predictable. If you break your own rhythm every now and then by throwing the straight first, you can catch the opp off guard. Keep em guessing 👊
I literally just seen 2 guys fighting in a dorm doing the left and right punching. They think that's fighting when I'm reality it's just flailing your arms around while getting exhausted.
Nah dude its fighting its brawling. Sometimes u see big names in ufc fighting like that chandler for exampel. Also holloway who like to brawl last 10 sec of every fight
@@ChantelJordan-fm7kx Except no one got the job done and instead they both just exhausted themselves and if someone with even a tiny bit of skill would have been one of the opponents then either one of them would have gotten their ass beat.
@Jasalexander-vv2uw They were better off exhausting themselves. It doesn't take much skill to knock someone out and it's actually not always good to knock someone out on the street.
That's not true you can throw your right hand if you see it you don't need to set up. I just came back from Detroit Michigan national golden gloves. The finals were today. You can always throw the right hand before the jab if its there. 😉
