Video #593: If you have hand mobility issues, or if you process lots of clay, this machine could be a real life saver for you... More Info: www.beadsandbeading.com/blog/?... Polymer Clay Tutor.
Topics Covered In This Video:
* Unboxing my new NeverKnead Machine for conditioning polymer clay.
* This machine takes the hard work and pain out of conditioning polymer clay.
* Although it is not for everyone, for some people it will be a real life saver.
* Perfect for people doing large batches of polymer clay.
* Pain-free polymer clay conditioning for those with hand mobility/strength issues such as arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome and MS (Multiple Sclerosis).
* Some minor assembly required, instructions included.
* Install handle with round black ring and Allen key.
* Due to some base plates getting broken during shipping, all NeverKnead Machines will now be shipped with the base plate wrapped separately, and you will need to install it. You simple slip the bolt on the back of the base plate through the hole in the machine base and thread on the bolt to secure. It is also recommended that you glue in base plate with Weldbond, E6000 or 2-part Epoxy.
* Can be bolted to work surface through two holes at back of machine.
* Clean with baby wipe or damp paper towel to remove any machine oil, dirt or clay (after you've used it).
* Machine arm applies 1000 lbs pressure on clay, to knead it quickly and easily.
* The NeverKnead squeezes the clay so it doesn't introduce air to the clay, like pasta machines do.
* Large amounts of clay can be conditioned at the same time.
* Has potential to be used for stamping, embossing, cane reducing, and more.

Just a experimental suggestion someone might want to try. Someone might want to try a ultrasonic tool cleaner, the kind you get from the hardware store to clean grease off of tools, it's like a bigger version of a jewelry cleaner. They have a heat setting to moderately warm the water. So the gentle warmth and the sonic vibrations might hands off easily condition the clay fast and easy or at the very least get it like 80-90% of the way. A person would just put the hunk of clay in a plastic ziploc and put it in. Ultrasonic is one of the mechanically most effective ways of mixing. So potentially it could be amazing for clay conditioning. The only drawback from my use I know they make an annoying buzzing sound you cannot be in the same room. So you'd have to put it in a bathroom and close the door or closet or something. They all have timers too fyi which if effective makes it convenient to not have to babysit too. Just thought I'd throw the idea out there. I've just started looking to get into polymer clay, otherwise would have already tested it.

It's an arbor press. You can use it for all sorts of stuff besides this, like inserting eyelets for example.

I bought one and I love it! I have difficulty with my wrist being strong enough to condition older or harder clays and this takes the stress out of it. I also had some older clays that were impossible to condition and they came out smooth and pliable after conditioning for a few minutes on the NEVERKnead...And no air bubbles! For me, working with polymer clay as much as I do, it was well worth the investment. Customer service is fantastic too.

Just got it! I wasn't sure when I first took it out of the box. (I got the silver because it was cheaper) After conditioning some very hard Fimo while I watched this video, I can honestly say I am falling in love! At $129 from Etsy, (would have been 159 for the cool colors) I agree it is pricey. But this thing is so sturdy and well made, our grandchildren will be kneading clay with it. I am just getting back into clay (just retired) after away 10 years and this is so going to be so good for my hands. I have been putting the clay in a plastic bag and then my bra to try to soften. That can be bad when I answer the door and forget it is there! That will never happen again!

My son bought me a NEVERKnead for Christmas 2017. For my custom wedding cake topper business, I condition 2-3 pounds of Super Sculpey Extra-Firm Gray Clay per week. I have tried pasta machines and food processors, both are great however, not as fast and easy and this. I can get the firm clay conditioned and ready to use in a fraction of the time. I clamped mine down on to an inexpensive rolling butcher block cart I bought at Target. The wheels lock so there is no issue with the table moving while using the machine. Put a little music on, a few drops of mineral oil and start conditioning. It's a bit of a work out, gets my heart rate going for sure! I can condition an entire one pound block of firm clay in just a few minutes. I never heard of an Arbor Press. Personally, I wouldn't have thought to buy one, make plates for it and use it to condition clay. This seriously changed my life and saved my hands, kudos to the inventor for thinking outside of the box!

I have arthritis and I use one of the first die cutting machines Sizix put out with a handle that you would press down it works to condition the clay. It is a great use since I have the newer die cutting machines. I am sure many people still have them.

Due to medical reasons I recently had to stop polymer claying due to severe pain & the exhausting time conditioning the clay. Then I discovered NEVERKnead & I've been able to return to doing what I love. NEVERKnead is well worth every penny. It is a lifetime investment that you will never regret. Thanks Debbie for the NEVERKnead & Thanks Cindy for sharing.

This appears to be a one ton arbor press from harbor freight with a slight modification. My two ton was less than $45.00. I am sure I can make the modifications. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Cindy! I received mine and need to try it out! Have been waiting for you to unwrap yours, as you told me you were going to do! Appreciate you so very much! Will give mine a try tomorrow, although I have the boring grey color! God bless you!

I ordered a green one a while ago, it was expensive because I also had to pay a lot of custom fees BUT it was worth it. I can condition hard and old clay now without hurting my hands, this tool is a real time-saver as well, conditions the clay perfectly. :)

I'd seen one of these in my dad's workshop at some point in time so went to dig and found it! He didn't use it anymore so with a solid cleaning then adding a rubber furniture leg cap to the bottom of the press post ( whatever it's called), picking up a metal plate to set on the bottom then sandwiching my clay between plastic wrap.. the work of conditioning my clay is history! I have to give it to you for this wonderful re-purposing of a tool that's been around for ages. Thank you Deb! Just a note: I did see 0.5 ton arbor presses on Amazon for a little over $50. I can see where there is additional expense involved in yours Deb. You've added a really nice plate and the piece that connects to the press post looks fantastic. I have to watch my budget so $159 was out of the question but for those who can invest in one of yours, I'm sure they work better for this purpose. But if you can't.. you can still rig one of your own to work for conditioning clay really easily.

Hi Cindy & Everyone...I really love my Never Knead machine (even though I have only recently purchased it). I have had surgery on both of my hands which have left them weak and makes it impossible for me to knead my polymer clay , so this machine is a lifesaver for those with problem hands...now I can really enjoy working with my clay without causing more pain to my hands! Thank you Deb, great invention! And thank you Cindy for your tutorials which are very informative!

i don't do large projects but know all about the carpel tunnel .. would love this if i did more :). what always amazes me is that it takes so long for such wonderfully practical devices such as this to come out on the market :)

So you know, this is an arbor press. You can pick these up cheap and just sandwich your clay between two loose steel plates before pressing.
