There's nothing more exciting than seeing a bass blow up on a top water frog! This video bears witness to the effectiveness of Z-Man's new 2-3/4" Finesse FrogZ in Green Pumpkin and Black/Blue colors. Finesse FrogZ were introduced to the 2018 product line-up at ICAST 2018 in Orlando (in July 2017). These nifty frogs are buoyant (float), nearly indestructible, and available in six great colors. They are ideal for times when the fish prefer a smaller profile frog or top water lure. Because they are naturally buoyant, when rigged with a 2/0 EWG hook (I often use a 3/0 EWG hook) they can be fished either fast or slow. When retrieved quickly, the paddle feet create a gurgling sound and lots of enticing vibration. Try different retrieve speeds; sometimes the faster, the better! Enjoy the show!
Finesse FrogZ are available at fine sporting goods stores or at zmanfishing.co...

Don, you're a huge influence on me! I find myself more and more examining Z-Man's new offerings! I bought both the TRD HogZ and the Boar HogZ the other day, plus a package of the NedLock jigheads that you showed in your last video! And, I rarely buy new stuff (or so I thought)! Now, you're tempting me to get the Finesse FrogZ! How could anyone resist the thrill of that surface strike? You captured the action perfectly in this video! You did a great job enticing me once again! Thanks for the another action packed, enjoyable video my friend! All the best to you, Brenda, and sister, Lorraine!

John, thanks so much (as always) for your kind and thoughtful comments. As you know, fishing is a fickle hobby. It didn't take an average, everyday angler (such as myself) long to realize that fishing is like a puzzle that requires thoughtful consideration about what lures, line, techniques, etc, etc to use based on a wide range of variables. If I can somehow find a solution to the puzzle, it is personally gratifying to share the story with family and friends. I guess it is a Missouri "Show Me" thing! Oh, I've also ordered some Boar HogZ and am positive they will work good, too! So many new goodies; so little time! Hi to Jeanne and the girls and all the best from JC. Don, Brenda & Lorraine

Glad you liked the show FnJ. I'm sure these little frogs will come in handy when the lily pads start dying out after the first freeze. Don

Wow, and double Wow! I'm sitting in my living room watching my fishing partner catch all the bass...what a show and looking forward to all the excitement of using the new Z-Man Finesse FrogZ. So fun and hope to be out there enjoying the fun of catching the "big ones" soon. Thanks Don for the show, love ya Lorraine

LJ, if we ever get to fish a place not totally choked with water weeds or lily pads, I think you'll like using these frogs. Just cast them out and reel. Couldn't be easier! Since I already know there's big bass in the NF railroad lake, why don't we head up there after the lily pads start dying out and let Mr. Froggy do his thang? :) xxoo Don

Thanks, SLC and of course I completely concur. Exponentiality best describes the new, wonderful things constantly being invented to fool the fish. I've actually felt guilty thinking about all the lures hibernating on shelves in my garage. So, in the months ahead I'm going to resurrect some relics and see if they still have what it takes. Best wishes, Don

Tis the season for frogs and mosquitoes down here in south Texas after Harvey. I hope to go back fishing soon and try some frog lures. Thanks for the review.

Wayn, if you had any significant flooding in your area, I hope the fishing recovers quickly. I'm positive the heavy rain storms we had earlier this year really had a big impact on smaller lakes and ponds in this area. Maybe fall will make up for the slow summer. Best wishes, Don

Looks good. This is pretty much the same way I want to fish the finesse tubez. I've found that a 3/0 octopus hook fits the 2.75" tubez, and I think I'll have no problems casting them t-rigged , weightless, with my BFS(UL baitcasting) gear. I tried this with a 3/0 circle hook in October, but the fish easily threw the hook. I did land one on it though. I'm hoping to get a better hook up with the octopus hook. Anyway these frogz look like they would be nice throwing on the BFS gear, and might be better to use than the tubez. Throwing a weightless t-rigged tube, has always been one of my favorite rigs for bass. I could always get the bigger zman ones, and use a bigger EWG hook.

Glad you enjoyed the Finesse FrogZ show, SGT. You may have noticed that I switched to a heavier rod/reel in the last half or so of the vid. Several bass grabbed the frog and dove into the heavy hydrilla, floundered around, and got off. Many of the places I fish have lots of hydrilla or weeds so some sort of weedless hook style and stout gear is a necessity. There's some other bass places where I can get away with Medium weight gear. Good luck with those TubeZ this year. They, and their smaller TRD TubeZ pals, are very good. Best wishes, Don

Dexter, our prayers are with you, your family and all the other Floridians facing the impending wrath of Harvey. I can't imagine the devastation of all the wind, rain and storm surge and hope you can survive and recover. Don

Z-man brand is my absolute GO TO baits! What I started doing was adding a "screw-lock" to the baits and attaching that to my hook to avoid the bait sliding up[ or down the hook or the line. Works great =)

Thanks for commenting, Rob, and Z-Man sure does make a cornucopia of awesome lures. Both the finesse and hard leg Z-Man FrogZ are really good and you can bet I'll be using them again this year. Best wishes and happy 2018.

Thanks, Skip, and hope all's well in the First State. This pond was hard hit by big rains a week or so before I went so I'm hoping it will be recovered and even better if I can get up there later this fall. Bass Wishes! Don

What hook did you use in this video? I’m going to try out some of the gamakatsu offset round bend worm hooks in 1/0 because they are such light wire hooks.

Thanks for commenting, RF. It is a nice little frog. I have non-Z-Man frogs with the identical size and profile but they sink and thus can only be used in the fast-retrieve mode which works well. It is exciting to watch a little frog like this scurry across the surface and get blasted. Don

Thanks, Terry. The bass and gills finally managed to yank the paddle feet off all my black/blues. Our local Bass Pro doesn't carry any FrogZ so here lately I've used the white and it is doing very good. Have a great week, Don

I have the hard leg frogz... can't wait to use them as soon as the weather gets a little better. You should skipping them under some brush (if you confident enough, not sure I am). They are apparently amazing at that based on other videos I've watched.
@Winkiedoodles
@Winkiedoodles 6 лет назад
Texan, yes these hard leg frogz in the 2.75" finesse variety are a lot of fun. Yes, I'm sure they'd work good being skipped under limbs like willows, etc. I'd have no problem doing that and would probably switch outfits to something with braided line (like I did about half way through this video) if I were fishing in real brushy situations. The larger, 4" hard leg frogz are really good, too. Don

Thanks, GMan and yes, these frogs 'take a lickin' and still keep tickin' for sure. The bigger hard leg frogs might be better in situations where more noise would attract (or irritate) bass into biting. All the best, D

John, I hear you! There's no way to prepare for the surprise of a top water strike - and that's why it is normally a jolting, breathtaking experience. I've always loved poppers and buzz baits and now there is a little frog (that doesn't get hung up) that bass attack with no mercy - ha ha ha. I have some other places that I want to use this frog later this fall. Call me an adrenaline junkie! :O Best wishes, Don

Does zman bulletz fit this finese frogz sir?
@Winkiedoodles
@Winkiedoodles 10 месяцев назад
Thanks for stopping by, Iamele. The Bulletz jigheads do fit these little frogs but they will sink rather than float on the water or on top of vegetation. IMO, a 2/0 EWG light wire hook has worked best for the deadly FrogZ. I've had the most luck with the white or blue colors. Have a great day, Don

pleasure, I got my hands on these two weeks ago and it has been a blast!! I was battling to keep the frogs on the hook as they seem to slide up and down, maybe im just using the wrong hooks but i found if you put a O-ring over the nose of the frog after rigging it, it squeezes onto the hook nicely and hardly moves around
@Winkiedoodles
@Winkiedoodles 6 лет назад
Great news! Nifty idea with the O-ring. I think I tried using "bait buttons" on 3/0 Gamakatsu EWG hooks for these little frogs. They worked so-so. Have fun!

well it happened. my skills on the computer has been revealed. I KNOW NOTHING.AND HAVE LITTLE TO WORK WITH. I am sorry to throw the curve at you.. At my age and in my body it still thinks it can do all thing.(ha- ha) once again I sorry I cause you some difficulty. I still believe there is room for them in my tackle box. It truly was a great video as always. still praying for Lorraines speedy recovery. as always (now you know) just Bob

No problem whatsoever, Bob...but if you know nothing about computers - that makes two of us! I found some other, hard-body frogs on a shelf in my garage and might try them out in Binder. I don't even remember what kind of frogs they are but they are a lot bigger and are the kind that you reel constantly. Sometimes old things work good! Lorraine is feeling better every day and doesn't wear glasses any more; medicine is a miracle these days. All the best, Don

thanks Don for being understanding of my faults . To share with you about this fault of computer ignorance. My one room school desk did not have an IBM setting on it, nor did the school down the road at Lost Corner, as well up the road at Booger Town. So no matter where I would have attended I would still been ignorant about computers. My grandson keeps me out of to much trouble , He helped me to subscribe to your you-tube videos so I could thank you for them and converse with you. . just a thought Pike Co. probably had computers. Well I have taken up more of your time. Now you know why its Just Bob

@Winkiedoodles 7 лет назад
Bob, we never had computers all the way through college because they weren't even invented. I first ran into a computer in the 80s and was forced to (ha, ha) use computers on my job. Thankfully, I was always a pretty good typist so the learning curve was somewhat shortened. I still consider myself an anachronism and agree that the youngsters know a whole lot more about technology. Best wishes, Don

What type of rod reel and line should I get?. Got these coming in next week thanks Rob
@Winkiedoodles
@Winkiedoodles 6 лет назад
Robert R Robert I like a 6-6 to 7 ft MH spinning rod, a decent 2000 size reel (or a good 6'6" MH casting rig in more open/no trees situations). Spiderwire 30lb Invisibraid works good with these frogs and gives a better chance to land fish that dive into weeds and hydrilla. The color of the braid doesn't seem to make a difference. Good luck! I'm not familiar with rigging a zoom frog. Only advice might be use an EWG offset hook and not a straight shank hook.
