Super useful review! I was about to purchase more floodlight cameras but these spotlight cams are easier to install and the batteries make it so I don't need wiring EVERYWHERE in the house!
Hi there Just found your video & to let you know something you might not know about the new spotlight cam , on the back where the ball is located when you have the door open where the ball is that whole piece can slide out so you can have it at the top or the bottom ( as in your video you said it can only sit 1 way ) i have 4 spotlight cams & hope this helps you out
We have a 3 acre home and our neighbor has a 4 acre home. For reasons I wont get into, we need some sort of security system that will tell us whenever he is outside his home, within about 90 feet of our house (or within 40 feet of the property line). We live in a rural area and our WiFi does not extend that far from the house. What Ring products ill help us get an alert or even a video of our neighbor on his property but within about 100 feet of our house?
Still can't get the bottom off. This thing has been sitting on my back porch for a year after getting filled with water the first time it rained. Should have called and gotten it replaced, but didn't until it was too late. Today, I decided to search how to open it. Released the screw and it still won't come open.
So a few questions. They have a wired version and a battery version on the ring website - but I assume that both can be hard wired using the USB C port on the back to give it mains power?
Hi! Yes both can be hardwired or used with battery. I have the spotlight pro battery and hardwired versions. They are identical except the hardwired comes with no battery and a power adapter while the battery comes with 1 battery. Be prepared to use add a 2nd battery if the cam is located in a high traffic area like a driveway and you have high sensitivity levels.
So if you have aluminum siding, or you have to mount it where there’s aluminum or metal, it’s gonna distort that sound when you’re listening back to previous recordings. So I have to figure out how to fix that problem because the audio is horrible on all of the ring cameras, because those are the only ones I’ve ever tried, and there’s no way on some of these ring cameras to adjust the sensitivity volume so that everything‘s not just rise off everything you’re getting all this distorted, scratchy, horrible Audio! And I’m noticed that it has to do with aluminum siding or any type of metal siding that you put your item on your camera on. to. Besides the above, now I have another issue with this camera! I’ve had it installed on the front of my garage, and it runs into the garage and plugs into an outlet. Yes, it’s the corded, not the direct into a junction box. Now it’s been up for a good , probably eight months, with no batteries in just running off the plug-in that I installed and now all of a sudden it a lot it’ll work but the lights will come off and it doesn’t wanna connect and it’s nothing to do with Wi-Fi or my bridge. It’s something in the system itself apparently, it doesn’t wanna stay on it doesn’t wanna stay charged or somehow it isn’t getting any electricity to it and I can’t understand it because it’s been plugged in. It’s worked fine what’s wrong with it unplugged it plugged it back in the lighter come on for a moment and then it’s just no juice and I know it’s not my garage. I know it’s not the plug-in, and most likely it’s not the cord! So I’m really just personally sick of all of these types of cameras and all of the constant issues and going off-line Wi-Fi problems here I’m just ready to go a more professional type unit, that I don’t have to deal with any of that it’s all corded and it all runs into a box. You can monitor it because I’m sick of all of this and I’m I’m just wrong good money after bad all the time by the time I’m done with all this crap I could’ve went and bought two professional systems, save your money people go look at it up professional home systems. You’ll be better in the long run and a lot less headache and hassle.👍
Attempting to secure the pressure release screw that is attached to the camera mount to the mounting plate. Have you had any issue getting that specific screw to secure?? Any advice would be helpful though snapped into place screw will not secure.
I bought a Ring Spotlight Cam Plus plug-in and see it has same compartment for battery, can I use my plug-in cam with batteries and adding a solar panel?
Hi! Yes you can add batteries from other ring devices and you can add a solar panel. But the solar panel connection has been updated so best to get the current solar panel for the spotlight cam plus.

HI, no you must get 2 batteries (it holds 2 inside) and lower your sensitivities a bit. 1 battery with high motion sensitivity could run out of juice in 2-3 weeks.
@@TheFrenchGlow oh man!!!! How about the Ring Battery Doorbell Plus? Do you have any info on that one? I think it's one of the newer ones that came out recently...
I ordered the Pro wired and received the battery version with a wired kit. Amazon said this is how the wired version is sold. Is that accurate or is there a specific wired Cam version?
hi! I have the Pro wired when it was first released and it came as 1 complete kit and NOT as a battery + Wired kit. However, Amazon might sell them together now to save some packaging as its the same parts.
The gray backing plate on the mounting bracket does NOT want to come out on mine. No matter what. I think it'll break before I'm able to get it out. What a terrible new design. The old bracket design was a lot better. And why is a there a damn screw on the front of the bracket?!! It turns but does nothing. Geezzz
Hi! I had a similar problem and ended up using two small screwdrivers (normally for opening small electronics) to release some pressure and pop it out.
Please do not buy the new model for the elderly or anyone with hypertension. There is nothing in the package that remotely indicates twisting the bottom to open the case. Just the word "twist" would have been nice but the designers did what they did I suppose to sell more models after the customers pried on these things to the point of breaking them. It's just unbelievable. Secondly, the round snap-in grip is like inviting a thief to just snatch the camera off the grip. The irony of trying to secure our homes, but the camera itself is open-season for grab and go thieves. That's right folks, even with the clamp in place, a nice little yank and the camera is yours. So mount them high, and go for the solar option I guess.
I have spent 3 hours watching multiple videos of yours to make sure i got what i really wanted and needed. Thanks so much for the content helped me so much. Your detail is great.
The only thing steering me away from buying this is it seems the product only comes with one battery, but needs 2 batteries to function. Why would ring sell a product without everything it needs to function? Sigh….
This is a new one my 1st spotlight lasted 4 years, for some reason it just went off line and wouldn’t go back on. However it lasted good day and night for 4 years. It had One battery that we hooked to a solar panel. It worked great. Never had to worry about the battery running down. Bought this one today and I hope it is as reliable as the last one. I have wyze cameras at another house and it goes of line. The rules change on its own. They were cheaper but they should be since they don’t work as well.
nice video. Shame no 2k or 4k but you do a good job explaining what the benefits are and why Ring went with 1080p. I guess its all about the cloud storage.
If your willing to run wires and have a server setup in your house you can easily do 4k. Alot more setup though but very little future repairs. Im to lazy for that in the future but might do it one day. For now i use Ring Pro
I have a big lot and two different buildings. Can i setup cameras on two different wifi and connect them to one phone app? Also how long alert notifications go on the phone? Can we have app installed in multiple phones so everyone gets alerts? Is subscription mandatory? Can you exclude animals from creating false alert? To charge battery do i have to remove it out of camera every time i need to charge and how long they last?
Are you the one who streams that music from RU-vid you have on the music in the background? If so, I listen to it all the time while doing my homework!
Hi! If you are drilling into wood or siding, you won't need anchors. I used wood screws. But for drywall (not sure you would have drywall outside), you definitely should use anchors.
Does the solar panel actually keep the batteries charged 24/7, or do you find that the batteries still die or struggle with charging even with the use of the solar panel? I ask because I am interested in purchasing the Ring Spotlight Cam Plus with solar for my grandparents for a blind spot on their home. I'd like for them to not have to worry about the hassle of frequently recharging the batteries since hardwiring isn't an option because, on that specific side of their home, they already have a standard floodlight there which is elevated quite high unlike their Ring Floodlight Cam in their driveway and Ring doorbells that are accessible if need be. I'm opting for the Ring Spotlight Cam with Solar because, If there were any complications with the Ring Spotlight Cam Plus, I'd rather them not have to worry about climbing a ladder to such a steep elevation to reach it if it were hardwired where their current, basic floodlight is since the Ring Spotlight Cam would be installed at a lower, more convenient elevation. My only concern with the Ring Spotlight Cam Plus with Solar is the battery life. Great video btw! Very informative!
Hi! You have to get the 4W solar panel and if you have battery issues, you will want 2 batteries and not 1. Battery drain is really dependent on how sensitivity your ring settings are. The spotlight + cam uses 25w so if your spotlights are on all night, it will drain the battery fast. With minimum spotlight use, I have not had to charge the batteries yet after over a month.
Yes, it now comes in only one version. I had to replace my older plug in version under warranty and this is what Ring sent to me as my replacement. I also got the power cord. At first I did not like it, but now I do. Here’s why, if the power goes out the spotlight switches over to its battery for power automatically. When power is restored it switches back and then starts to recharge the battery. Also when plugged in it keeps the battery charged.
@@TheFrenchGlow pick up motion or record motion. i had google nest camera battery “ it barely record motion and send notification but also i wasnt receiving notification and video at night time so i returned google nest camera”. could you please recommend me a good wireless camera brand that pick up motion and record all motion then send notifications to my phone. also do you prefer spotlight plus or pro
