Thanks for showing us around the new RR Michael. Having tested the 1200 RS I’ve no doubt it’s an awesome bike to ride, the altered riding position will make it feel different to the RS. Looks wise, I’m personally not convinced if I’m honest. I’m sure when Triumph launched the 1200 they also said there’s only one model, no S version and no plans for any other model. That’s a bit naughty if you’ve already put a deposit down on the RS! Saying all that, I’ve lots of followers who absolutely love the look of the RR, let’s see who buys it! 👍

If the Speed Triple RS/RR technology would trickle down to a ergonomically sane sport touring bike I’d rethink my next purchase. Wishful thinking aside, Triumph has done what I never thought they’d do - build a wide range of utterly fantastic motorcycles.

Nice looking bike but can we now have what the customers really want. More exciting paint jobs for Street RS, electronic suspension for Speed Triple RS and all for less money!

That’s got a wheel finisher, but the one i ordered to be on my 1200RS still hasn’t arrived along with the rear brake reservoir, 🤣 other news bike does look nice

I absolutely love the look. A true modern day cafe racer rather than an out and our sports bike. I think the standard white colour is spectacular with the black sections and gold pinstripe too.

Each to their own and all that, but do you really love the look of this? I find it hard to believe that anyone thinks that front end looks good.

@@JamchesterBoozle Yeah I genuinely like it. I think it offers a nice blend of modern and retro lines. Ok it's perhaps not as elegant as a Daytona 765 Moto2 or as awe inspiring as a Ducati Superleggera, but I think the Speed Triple RR has a unique style that works. I was never overly enamoured with the 'bug eye' front end of the standard bike.

Personally I'd buy the rs over this as I don't like the idea of electronic suspension also whilst I think it looks ok it just doesn't looked right with that cafe Fairing on it. Imo they should've built a 1200 Daytona with a proper Fairing, its like Triumph don't back themselves to build a decent hp sportsbike...

Triumph even tho i ride my cbr on the street it does not mean i want it to be less track focus, ive tried the speed triple RS and i loved it and i aways say if you lauch a super sport id buy it. not this.....

These look great - sophisticated, non-retro design and they look classy. Finally! The sort of good-looking, grown-up bike Ducati should have in their range. Takes me back to the late '90s and bikes like the VTR fFirestorm and TL1000S. I don't buy this 'cafe racer' BS - these are true road going serious sports bikes. I'd get the Speed Triple, but not a fan of the upright position for longer, faster rides, so this fits the bill. Triumph are also improving their finish and detailing. Only that throttle cable flapping around looks rough. Expensive though.

Interesting point. There's not a direct like-for-like competitor in terms of power, suspension and overall look so only time will tell if they've found a niche that will sell. Cheers, Michael

Why doesn't the front mudguard go all the way down at the back? It just throws mud and stones up into the rad. Have noticed this on many latest bikes. Only mentioning it because the Triumph engineer took part.

If you switch traction control off then that will automatically reset as a safety precaution but I don't believe anything else would revert to default. Thanks, Michael

I seem to be the only one that finds the styling, or lack of, quite bland. I prefer the look of the last model tbh which I own. I will test and upgrade if I prefer the ride on this though....

There must be something wrong with me? I don't like this looks and I don't think many will buy it. I would choose RS 1200 over this any day. And if you can't sell Daytona then make road friendly sports bike like Aprilia did with the RS 660.

I own and ride a Triumph. As much as I have come to appreciate the brand, it pains me to admit that they are overrated. Mostly make polarising yet brilliant looking, decent built otherwise mediocre motorcycles and then slap-on trick components simply to justify the price. Engineering vision is right there, however compared to Japanese bikes the product always has some or the other minor or major issues which leads to unwanted anxiety. Gasket leaks, stalling ,failing starter motors and tft screens that literally countdown the warranty period to be over , being the common issues. The Speed Triple RR is an interesting product, which also means that Triumph believes it can’t compete in the mainstream super sport/ sport bike market, at least for now.

I have to agree, it's like they don't back themselves to build a decent stand alone sportsbike to compete with the competition they had to badge this under an existing model. Personally I don't think the bike suits the cafe looking Fairing.

Take a new Speed Triple RR in white - bin the fairing shroud but keep the round light front end, keep all other upgrades, electronic suspension, clip ons etc. Call it a Speed Triple RSR if you must. Perfect. My 2009 white/navy decals 1050 Speed Triple showing its age but still going strong. Remains a classic in my eyes. To me the Speed Triple means all-round performance with a rough edge. Don't design out the hooligan.

A Sprint St 1200! Sounds like a sports tourer but they're sooo out of fashion allegedly. Shhh don't mention the success of the Kawa ninja except its half the price. I just don't see Triumph selling many £18k sport tourers - or RR's at this price - sales figure will prove me wrong maybe?

@@S1000xrhp I don't think it's fair to compare z1000 vs 1200 rs/rr. Single side swingarm, semi active suspension. It is definitely higher trim.

@@daytona765 maybe not and I agree that in the main you get what you pay for. But there is little technically or aesthetically wrong with the Ninja, particularly the price. It's popularity is testament to that. The RR maybe be more technically advanced but at twice the price? And I think that's the issue here. The big K understand that folk don't need a gold plated, hand carved mahogany handled hammer to bang the nail in. They might still like to have one though 🤣

Is it just me or do others think, £17,000 plus for a motorcycle where the speed limit in the U.K. is 70mph is just a bit ridiculous? What about real life motorcycling? What about bikes in the 500 to 750cc at an affordable price? I found the waffle by the marketing guy just boring.

It's all about horses for courses, some might think £17k for a bike is great value considering the components. Others won't. If we were all the same, life would be a little dull don't you think?! Have you tried the Trident 660? Or Triumph are soon bringing a Tiger Sport version with the same engine, if it's the 500-750cc range you're looking at. Then again, almost every manufacturer has a bike in that sector. Let me know if I can help point you in the right direction if you have any other criteria for your next bike. Cheers, Michael

I love what Triumph have tried to do here, but unfortunately it looks crap, there's no other word for it. I own a Triumph and support British brands but I'm so disappointed with the styling of this bike, its ugly plain and simple.
