The competition exists only on the internet because nobody buys either at their silly prices. They need to be 50% cheaper before they will sell. You can literally buy BMWs, Triumphs, Hondas, Ducatis etc for cheaper and they are always 3X the bike
@@ilikelampshades6 Except people like me are looking at specifically Harley and Indian. Its not always about horsepower, riding or even being comfortable. Its about owning a Harley or an Indian.
@That90sKid I can see the appeal as the Indian scout with a custom exhaust is one of the best sounding bikes I've ever heard and it looks cool too. But they're too expensive for what you get. I don't care much about performance and want to rumble around on a gorgeous bike making a nice noise enjoying the countryside.- but I can buy a Bonnieville for less money which rivals the American cruisers for style, noise, accessories, ease of riding but with the addional benefits of 2 up riding, better performance, better touring capabilities, better dealership network, better spec to begin with. If a Bonnie is £12,000 the Indian Scout should be less than £10,000 and a Sportster should be £10,000 ish- they don't even have double discs on the front - talk about budget!
As the owner of a '21 Street Bob and '23 Road King Special, this is the first and only Indian that grabs my attention. This is a huge swipe at the Lowrider.
It's great to see Indian stepping up in this way. I never thought we'd see dual discs, inverted forks, and better suspension but to see it with a fairing and other updates is pretty awesome
What's crazy to me is the fact that I agree. That red might still be my favorite color but a year or two I hated that gray and it has strangely grown on me
Had a '17 Chief Classic (111ci) which i sadly had to let go. For a 330 ish kg bike it handled brilliantly, and oh, the torque. I'm thinking these new models can't be anything but even better.
If I can't, for whatever reason, manage to get my hands on the Buell Super Cruiser then _this_ bike right here is next on my "list". It just looks phenomenal.
Brilliant Indian, this will be a smash hit. I think the single instrument counter is what Harley should put on the Lowrider ST - get rid of that handlebar screen. The Lowrider S/ST now has some serious competition. Bring it on- awesome!
Couldn't agree more. Rode the ST on a demo today and with my fading old eyes I could barely read any info, especially in sunlight. The fairing is nice though but can't see how it and the bags are worth 5k over the S
What LeWard said, they both take inspiration from the club style trend. The Buell Supercruiser is original as a performance cruiser but there is nothing original in its riding position or the overall look.
This bike is awesome great answer to the low rider S. I'm torn between the two now but that infotainment indian provides always checks the mark but Harley dominates in customization. That icon blue for the chief oh my my my.
I need a good windscreen so I hope the taller one works without going aftermarket. Overall I think it's a win for Indian I just wish it had a 5 gallon tank.
I love the mini cowl harkens back to the SOA Cali style. I wonder if they'll offer a bigger tank or would that ruin the "aesthetic??" I learned that word from my 3 daughters! I hate stopping for gas!!!! I also think alot of this styling came from the stripped down holigan bagger racing bikes which have gained a lot of traction. Love your videos, yeah.
Pretty disappointed they didn’t use the power plus 108 from the challenger in this bike. Yeah they would have to modify the frame. But it just seems silly to me to build a “performance” cruiser. And not put your race winning performance motor in it….
These bikes need more aluminum and carbon fiber. Besides weight reduction things less likely to rust out. I live in Hawaii. Even powder coating does not last long due to rust.
G'Day Bob, So unusual to see an American bike on your channel. I've ridden the standard Chief and while I'm not a cruiser or Amreican bike guy, I quite liked. I wouldn't mind throwing my leg over one of these new "sport" models just to try it out,but I'd 100% lose the bikini fairing and drop those bars back down to a normal height. Will be interesting to see whether there will be a "sport" version of the R18 released?
We definitely try to cover American bikes as much as poss - like you I do enjoy riding them although it’s a different experience that can’t be rushed in the same way as a naked for example. But I still see the appeal in the same way that big American cars look cool to me 😎
@@motobob cheers mate. Yeah I’ve got a stupid amount of attraction to the RAM 1500 they they started selling down here a few years back, but they start at $100K AUD. all I can do is salivate when I see one and continuously ask my wife “why is that guy allowed to have a RAM and I’m not?” 😀 Never gets old - for me at least. Hahaha
Its not a style of bike for me, but all the Sport Chiefs have a great look 👍. But most importantly, Indian is doing what HD has failed to ever do.... That's make bikes with actual "performance" in their class that's consummate with the cost.
I'm surprised that Indian is sort of crapping on the Scout Rogue so early in the game. Two different power plants, and two different price points, but with similar styling.
I’m buying this over the low rider s. Compilation like this is where the consumers benefit from, Indian hits a home run Harley then has to reciprocate. We win we keep getting better and better bikes.
This what harley should have done with the low rider s... The sport chief is a beautiful thing...such a shame I just bought my ducati desert sled less than two months ago...maybe in the next years...
why do oems not always use inverted forks? i am not an engineer and never looked into why one handles better than the other, every guy like motobob always prefers inverted. and when oems try to improve a model (i.e. Triumph Sport Twin recently), they move over to inverted forks.
Like the Indian range over the Harley. Don't like the prices of any of them. Way out of my league. By the time they get down to my level the things are knackered.
It will come. The Sportster S beats it by about 30% in HP and torque, with a tech package that rivals high end sport bikes. For only 20% more cost. The Scout line-up was good two years ago but with the Honda Rebel and the Sportster S hunting same buyers market, not so much. (Notice I did not mention the Nightster, I don't think that bike knows what it's market is)
That medium grey color is over used and trite now. I wish the other colors were gloss as well. I believe matte finishes are a trend and will soon no longer be en vogue.
Turns out I was right. It is easily £8,000 too expensive and we will never see a single one sold in the UK due to insane prices on American bikes. They are terrible at everything yet demand premium prices
So it’s the chief answer to the Low Rider S. Good luck Polaris The fairing is ridiculous looking but it’s probably a nice bike. I don’t think Harley has anything to worry about though. Indian is always playing tag with Harley.
@@amphibdriver1 The last few years it seems to me to be Harley coming up with updates and Indian just doing the same, as if they're playing a sad game of keep up.
fairing would have to go. It messes with the classic look these bikes should have. 2nd to go would be the exhaust as factory exhaust is never the best.
Hello, 🦩🦩🐞🐞🌸🌸🐞🥀May I share an Old Testament Verse with you from Daniel 7:14 "And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a Kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should SERVE Him; his dominion is an Everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom shall not pass away, and His Kingdom that which shall not be destroyed." Also, can I share Isaiah 53:5 " But HE was WOUNDED For our TRANSGRESSIONS, he was BRUISED for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His STRIPES we are HEALED." God the Father loves you so much that He sent Holy Sinless Jesus (His Holy Son) to earth to be born of a virgin. Then, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins. He was in the tomb for 3 days, then Father God raised Holy and Sinless Jesus Christ (Y'shua) to Life! He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, & unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, & immoral persons sorcerers & idolaters & all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire & brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today and please repent. Will you have a Real encounter with Holy Lord Jesus (Y'shua is His Hebrew Name) and stay in a Genuine relationship with Him daily please?
