In this video we take a look at the latest update to the sennheiser hd25 and see what improvements they have made. We also give a sneak peak at some of the new mods we will have for them this year. customcans.co....
Ive had HD25 for over 10 years never noticed the noise from cable. It never bothered me! but after you pointed out.... YEA.... THANK YOU! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! :-)
To reduce microphonic effect I made a knot (acuurately, not so tight) on the cable right underneath the can and it works perfectly. 90% of that weird noise has gone.
I've got 15+ year old of HD-25s (usual earpads replaced a few times) they're starting to get a bit raggy but I've not had any connection problems. I'm a bit scared to replace them now after watching this 😂
@@PyroVikingXD yes, we can probably fix that. You would have to send them in and we can take a look and and let you know the cost. They may juts need new arms
Yup.. I am excited about the aloominum parts too. I doubt we will be looking at the 660S2 unless sennheiser sends me a pair to review.... They are a bit too expensive for me to buy some just to take a look at the changes
attach the cable clamp to the hinge or headband itself so it's not on the ear cup. Or a soft rubber clip that fits where the earpad meets the housing the cable can strap into? Soft rubber dampened into soft padding.. food for thought. Also are you going to offer the aluminum housing in different colours? powder coat options would be awesome
My most favourite pair. Mine have leather cushings and HD600 cable with 4.4 jack :) I had lost a pair that was made in Ireland about 5 years ago. New ones I assume are from asia. Be well.
@@CustomCans that would be great if cans are made in Europe. Old ones had big made in Ireland label. On newer ones I can not find any made in.. information. And I did trash box years ago. Your cave is cool.
How can I ensure the HD 25’s I purchase online will be the new ones produced this year? Is there some kind of batch number or other identifier that I can look for? I’ve been using these to DJ since 2006 and I’ve always had the same issues with the pins.
Buy them from a larger retailer with high stock turn over - most larger retailers don't keep stock for more them a month or two. It is only smaller retailers that don't sell many where the stock will sit on the shelves for a long time. I know we get a new batch every month or two usually
Hi I’m from Argentina see you review of the original HD25-1 around 10 year’s ago and now the cable of my original HD 25-1 finally had broken can you suggest a replacement part and upgrade …. I do love my old hear phone don’t want to replace them for the new version I will soon enough maybe need to but not for now !!! keep the good work mate
Yep exactly like two times ;) the 25 anniversary HD25 and the amperior. When sennheiser discontinued them we bought up all the spare parts for them so we could keep building them. There is a video on here somewhere of us building the last ever pair of the original aluminium HD25s. The original HD25 aluminium are now going for over £400 on ebay and so are a bit out of our price range. Hopefully we can knock out this version out for around half that.
That is tricky because the box looks the same but most large shops will sell through all their stock and order new stock every couple of months. As all the new ones shipping from sennheiser are the new gold spring version, in a couple of months, most new pairs available online will be the new model. If you are at a physical shop they may let you unplug the cable and take a look down the holes to see what colour the springs are
I am about to either get my pair repaired originally made in Ireland. Have had them for more than 15 years. I hear they are made in Romania now which is not a problem but when i get to the store, if I decide to invest in a new pair, how does one know that they are buying the updated 2023 version? Does the box say updated version…2023???
I don't think it says on the box but most largeish retailers would have turned over all their stock by now as it is nearly a year. Sennheiser are currently out of stock of the HD25 so we have been buying them from various retailers to replenish our stock and they have all been the latest ones.
As they have been ou for nearly a year - most shops will have sold through any old stock - if you buy from a retailer, they will all be the lates version now
Is it normal for me to hear like some kind of electrical noise when I turn them on the DJ controller and I didn't play any music but turned on the DJ controller with the PC(USB-C attached), and on the PC when I turn them on it is different that noise is not heard. Is this a problem or is it normal?
It has been about a year since these came out so I suspect everywhere will have the latest model ... there is no real way of telling without checking the cable but... most larger retailers will turn over their stock every 3 or 4 months
Hello! Please tell me, is there a difference in sound between the new HD25 Light and HD25? The new HD25 Light drivers have the same design as the standard HD25 and the same 70 Ohm impedance. In my HD25 Light (new version) the measured resistance is 60 Ohms.
@@CustomCans Thanks for the answer! I had HD25 for a long time (12 years ago). I recently bought HD25 Light. As far as I remember, they sound very similar to the ear. After 12 years it’s hard to say :) But the sound is very high quality and the frequency response is smooth
Sos Its my bf bday and he is a dj. Now i have seen him having his Sennheiser HD25 for longggg time, they look like a disaster. So i wanna buy him the newest pair, that has the same plug like the HD25 as it is fine with his dj decks. What model should i buy? Sorry for my poor knowledge about headphones 😩
All the HD25s have the same plug so they will all be fine but if you fancy treating him, we have just release the aluminium ones in new colours . Here is a link customcans.co.uk/shop/?s=aluminium&post_type=product&dgwt_wcas=1
If they are made to order then they will all now be the new ones. We do have quite a big stock of pre painted ones, some of which will be the previous version but we can check for people
Yeah. A lot of people use then for portable use as they block out a lot of noise and stay on the head well. They were originally used on concord. Given to passengers to block out the sound of supersonic flighht
So if I understand from your video Customs Cans now has the machine to make their own aluminum earcups for the Sennheiser HD 25 ?? And like you said a little different than the original aluminum ?? Also a read I the comments you said will be possible other colors in aluminum ??? Imagine aluminum gold or Purple ?? And how much they will go for ??
Well... Nearly ;) we have designed the parts and a CNC company is machining them from billet aluminium for us. The first batch will only be available in silver but in a few months we should get them made in different colours. If we can we would also like so get some with a shiny, nearly mirror finish
@@phineasphreak6158 i am not 100% sure on the price as we don't know all the costs involved yet but probably £199 for a pair of HD25s with aluminium earcups and hinges already fitted
I am not sure if it is recommended or not but they should be OK as long as they are kept dry. I know the BBC used them for sound recording on the frozen planet series and they survived in some of the coldest places on earth musictech.com/features/interviews/chris-watson-life-spent-listening-field-recording-foley-david-attenborough/
It will be tricky to say for certain but I suspect all the standard HD25 will be the new ones by now as they should have sold through the old stock by now. The plus does not sell as quick but it will probably be the same for them. As far as I am aware, the special edition are older so probably won't have the gold springs
Hey there) I know i'm late to the party, but it seems a lot of people report leather on pads of HD 25 plus (at least haven't heard so much of this complaint about regular ones) begin to peel of on 3rd day of usage. Sometimes it's get mistaken for white sweat stains but that's not it- it's actually upper layer of leather coming off. Is this issue widespread? And on sidenote- my HD 25's measure 65.4 Ohm left and 63.2 Ohm right ear. Is this normal? Thanks in advance!
The resistance you are measuring seems right. We have seen a couple of pairs with the white peely looking stuff on after a bit of use but we have found if you give them a wipe with a damp cloth it comes off and then they seem fine. I am not sure what is is, maybe some surface coating or something they are adding in the factory that is going a bit wrong on the odd pair. I think we have seen around 1 in every 200 pairs have this issue reported back to us over the past 6 months and not seen it on any in the past couple of months so maybe it is sorted now.
@@CustomCans But why so different on each ear tho? My MDR 7506 give same resistance for both speakers. Alas damp cloth only makes peeling worse( As for peeling it's quite curious that only Plus versions seems to be affected. By the way- do you opened "affected" pair? Is it faulty only with coating or somenthing inside is off too?
@@williameckhart8263 Yes, there is probably more of a missmatch than some, I am not sure what the tolerance would normaly be. The left usually measures a little higher than the right as the cable is longer. If they are peeling, I would rpobably have a chat to the place you purchased them from. They may replace your pads under warranty
@@CustomCans already done that, got some money back and bought some Dekoni pads, so not much of a loss here I guess) Actually haven't thought about cable length) Indeed higher resistance ear is a left one. Got some other measurements from forums, seems consistent with what I got. My main concern was that these HD 25 were not legit, and due to Sennheiser removing qr check there was no easy way to verify. But everything seems legit. Thanks for your answers)
The problem with those pins/contacts is on purpose. The vast majority of users will go and buy new headphones.20 years ago I had the same problem with HD580 made in Ireland.I bought a new cable twice and finally got rid of them for nothing.I wish I knew about the problem.
