Absolutely love the look and QC so far. I only wish it was either a little bit cheaper OR had lower print runs. Those 2 will prevent it from appreciating aggressively. Fanatics seems to be trying to avoid that. Like you said, having it available at this price for a while wouldn't be the worst thing. Cheers!
Stryker, the youtube notification you posted a few weeks ago about 2023 Chrome being available on the Topps website helped me snag a hobby box before they sold out. Thank you!
I been watching your videos from the UK for a month or so now, you're instantly my go-to for mlb cards. I'm gonna treat myself to a hobby box for my birthday next month. Keep the videos coming!
Nice rip! I'm excited to get my hobby boxes. I got an email that the value/blasters are on the way but nothing on my hobby boxes yet and I ordered mine as soon as you could. Hopefully they get here on Wednesday.
Great opening...it would be interesting to factor in the buyback value for the basic $40 parallels and the $20 base into the value sheet (take the price off the per box price). By my calculations when you take out inserts to figure the total base cards and total unnumbered parallels, blasters average $7 in buyback value, hobbys $17 in buyback value, and jumbos $28 in buyback value. This would only further the value of hobbys And blasters compared to jumbo.
Not sure where you got your info from, but the 60/40 for a PSA 10 is only on the back of the card. The front image has to be within 55% and 45% for centering.
Hey Stryker, I just checked out Packman's 2023 Topps Chrome review and he had a Breakers Delight box, OMG insane pulls he didn't even realize how good they were! Check it out, your going to want a case for Breakers delight for sure! That one pack box probably paid for all 3 boxes he ripped, a Hobby, Jumbo and breakers delight box.
Best Topps Chrome baseball product so far this decade. And probably the best since 2018 Topps Chrome Update. Maybe even better depending on how the rookies pan out over their MLB careers.
Have you checked out the new format yet? The breakers delight. It looks pretty loaded with just 12 cards but you get 2 autos and oranges youthquakes only way to get them
Sweet Kershaw.... The look of chrome is good and the quality control is way better than last year. However, the price point doesn't make sense for the layman to buy boxes. It will be rare to break even on any boxes you buy. Better off to buy singles or cheap team breaks.
What really helps this release is the checklist. Last years checklist was so bad with rookies that it hurt the product. This year with so many rookies and the buyback? Good stuff.
Thanks for the video. Using your small sample pool, hobby appears to be much better than blasters. I bought 4 hobby boxes (presale) off Topps website. Mine have yet to ship. I’m anxious to receive my Chrome and pull some gems.
Looks like some value here. Just ordered 2 hobbies. I'm glad I don't need to hit the streets for blasters. Haha thanks for the inside scoop. Prices will go up fast.
I just started to collect baseball cards, and just got into the sport again this year since middle school. Do you have any tips for a new collector and how to know if you pulled something great? Thank you for the video, definitely earned my follow!
Stupid question here…the regular Topps 2023 were Series 1 and 2. Are these chrome the same way or do they just have one Chrome offering and that’s that? That’s to say, Will Benson (who you got an auto from in the first pack) was part of Series 2, but Riley Greene was part of Series 1. I’m assuming that the Chrome’s just take the “best of the best” from both series?
As an old collector(72) i’m not impressed by much but your baseball card analysis is top notch and i watch you religiously for past couple years. Continued success! Baseball collector 1909-2023.
i’m new to the channel been watching for some weeks i usually watch jabs he’s fun and all but i love how you break things down, are for the community and the range you have in knowledge. truly appreciate you i just ordered a hobby box after watching thing i never usually buy a box but i said let’s see. i’ll be sure to join the patreon soon 🫶🏼 thanks man
Whats up Stryker! What do you make of the discrepancies between Pack odds and box odds on the odds checklist? For example in Jumbo Topps says you'll hit a rookie auto 1:9 packs, yet for box odds they say you'll hit 2:1? Math doesn't really add up there? Thinking I'm grabbing a case of Hobby at the national regarldess but the differing odds is weird
We can talk stats. The Mets suck and spent $340 million. Now, how can you make a team worse by spending $100m more? It’s a puzzle. The team, other than Verlander, is the same as last year, but 5x worse. How does a team accomplish such a feat? Also is Alonso, with his 204 average, the lowest average ever to make an all-star team?
Id rather just go buy the cards I want graded then spend so much money on a hobby box. At least you are guaranteed to get the card you want. They want $250 for a 2023 Topps Chrome Hobby Box in Florida. They are insane
