The design is not my cup of tea... loaded with tech that eventually break and super expensive to repair... Bikes are going the same way as cars... ever more complex. Others in BMW community might like it, but I am not one of them
So, the Harley Pan Am had a love affair with a Lego brick. I do like the attachment points, gotta give them that much. For now, I’ll stick with the 1200/1250 GSA.
A Cybertruck, a 1300GS and a Tesla designer walk into a bar…..and this hideous thing walks out! 🤦🏻♂️ I love how BMW calls the automatic transmission…..”New Technology”…..only took them 8yrs what Honda had. On behalf of all the DCT owners in the world…..in my best Bruce Willis interpretation……Welcome to the party Pal!!!😂🤣😂
The most anticipated release of the year and by the looks of things also the biggest disappointment. I can’t imagine anyone buying this ugly mutt of a bike. Looks like my 1250 just increased in value. Thanks for nothing BMW, pathetic.
Oh My God. Ugliest bike I’ve ever seen. The tank looks like an a/c unit.. those openings on the side??? They styled the bike to look like the luggage. Heavier with more weight higher???? Please don’t ruin the new RT and RS😡
These big adventure bikes are becoming huge, grotesque, bloated vehicles, priced accordingly. 99% of owners will never take them off road, Chelsea Tractors for the biking world.
I’ve no doubt it’ll be a huge road mile muncher with loads of tech and comfort, looks will have to wait till I see it in the flesh, great review James , 👍👏🙋🏻♂️🫡
Ex GS owner here, the last a great 1250 GSA, they are too big and the new styling is horrid, I’ll keep my stunning Ducati and it is so much more fun to ride.
A GS rider is usually a small, bearded old man with a yellow safety vest and an open-face helmet who is unable to tension a chain without killing himself. I think the bike fits this category of rider perfectly. 🤔
Lots of big feelings for a bike that no one has to buy but eventually will. It’s a great counter-balance to the slimmed-down 1300GS. I don’t want the regular 1300 but I’ll take this. It has presence and every technological feature you could want. BMW went in a totally different from Ducati and we are all better for it. Buy a F900GS if you really want a more classic adventure bike look and functionality.
The design of the tank and the covers arround ist very boxy, I do not like it... Of course it can be still a very good bike, but it is more fore the newest tech... lets See how it sells next year
Indicators in the hand guards, sure they’ll be cheap to fix when you drop it. At least on the 1250 when it disintegrated immediately followed by the clutch when I had a little off, I was able to swap them out for bark busters. Not going to be possible in this case. Also, why did you do the walk round on this bike, which is covered with packs trying to take away from the ‘interesting’ design decisions. I’m sure it’ll be an incredible ride, just hasn’t immediately taken me like the 1250 did from launch. I’ve ridden the 1300 and have to admit I enjoyed it both on and off road and loved the balance, but the 1250 does everything and more than I need for years to come. Hopefully the facelift version of the GSA to come might be more palatable.
BMW have cocked up big time here; they seemed to have designed the bike to match the panniers! I'll stick with my 1250 GSA until I move to the Ducati Multistrada next year.
I am soooo glad I bought the 1250gsa Triple Black. The new look is not a bike I will purchase. Looks too much like Harley’s attempt at an ADV which I also dislike.
If I were in the position of the production manager at BMW, I would immediately stop producing this bike and modify it immediately and say this was just a joke. After all these negative comments about the design, I am surprised how I did not find anyone who liked this design. I do not know why they consider it a new design, and in fact If the design was for a 5-year-old child, he would draw a more beautiful design than this cube
I love the design and after 2 days purchased one to replace my 2013 1200LC. At the first glance, I've found it ugly. At the second glance it was 'better'. Now I find it much more up to date than my 10 years old GS. This is typical with new designs that are radically different. I'm pretty sure this bike will sell a lot. Let's see.
I’m not a designer but that headlight reminds me of a ducks beak thats my only complain the rest I can live with it I mean the headlight assembly is so out of place with the rest of the bike
It’s absolutely awful. Nothing whatsoever to commend it. Such a disappointment, as is the standard 1300. Crap light, crap luggage, harsh ride, fiddly switchgear, less road presence, uncomfortable pillion position and hideously ugly. Not to mention the shocking value for money. I will stick with my GS1250 and when the time comes, switch to Ducati. Such a shame. I’ve had 5 BMW’s and 3 GS’s. No more. The team responsible for the 1300’s should be fired. A total screw up.
A bought my first GS (R80GS) in 1985). The last in 2022 (R1250GS) ... 6 in between. The design of this piece is ... terrible. Never want to be seen on it!
In my opinion: looks even more like a sperm whale, in comparison to the 1250 GSA. A total miss in my eyes. It's comfortable, without a doubt but Goldwing is comfortable too 😀But too pricey and too heavy to go offroad. So it's a bike for adventure pretenders.
Terrible, even more ugly than the 1300gs which is some achievement. After 3 x GS its time to move on after my present one. No matter how the new one goes, it looks shit. Just couldnt spend big money on that.
