Imagine the buzz this bike would get if one of the established manufacturers had introduced it at EICMA, but for decades they ignored our pleas for a lightweight ADV bike that was good off road with enough power to comfortably cruise the occasional highway. Apparently, they preferred to sell us their expensive 850 and 1250 cc ADV bikes. Suddenly, the Chinese have 4 or 5 of these 450 to 500 cc ADV bikes.
@@chrispekel5709 Nice! About time, hopefully they put more thought into it than using a ninja frame. I had a 300 and it was enough on road, but the geometry sucked off road.
@@cineenthusiast1234no they don’t. KTM 390 Adv doesn’t have a 21 inch front wheel. Versys doesn’t. Honda cb500x doesn’t. 450MT and Himalayan do have the 21 inch front wheel. So no. All Adv bikes don’t have it.
CFMoto is making some great looking, heavily featured bikes at more affordable prices. This is very encouraging given the high prices of the established brands. This particular bike has tubeless spoked rims and adjustable suspension. In the USA, CFMoto also has a well established dealer network which is a huge plus. I’m looking forward to seeing the pricing on both this bike and the new RE Himalayan.
man Himalayan has tha same power with this but in lower rpm i cant believe that they took a sports bike engine and put it to an adv. how can you will use the 46 hp in gravel if you need tto drive more than 8000 rpm?? cf 450mt has 46hp at 10.000+ rpms. rediculus and also the quality is very bad to all models with problems in electronics, so for me before the test i choose the himalayan as a bike that already has an amazing quality and now has nice spects.
@@user-bc1tm9ko8p don’t know what you are talking about. Peak power is 8,500 for the CF moto and 8,000 for the RE. Peak torque is 10% more for the CFMoto at 6,250 vs 5,500 for the RE. I wouldn’t call a 450cc twin making 43.5hp a sports bike engine
Oh man, what an offering! This is what the light(er)weight ADV-community was waiting for and to date no manufacturer cared really to listen to. I was hoping Triumph bringing out their 660 XC, but in vain. Let alone all the others, too. With this bike and with the new 675 triple engine CF MOTO already earned my respect!
You might want to look at the Kove 450 Rally, although it'll be more expensive. The Chinese manufacturers are all over the lightweight 400-500 cc ADV market this year, trying to sell us the bike we've begged to have for years (lightweight for off road but powerful enough for highways), but were ignored by the big manufacturers that preferred to sell us their heavy and expensive mid and full sized ADV bikes.
@@Al.j.Vasquez - I thought the Kove 450 looks nice... except the version they dragged to bike shows with the Chinese Communist Party flag on the fairing. The ADV version should be black or gray IMO. 🙂
I won't buy a KTM despite my friend raving about 890 adventure, ugly looking thing and fuel tanks like a saggy backside. Rationalise it how you want. Still Ugly dam ugly
Ktm also feel the need to have loads of internal screens and filters (not on this 450) and it's super annoying! Give me one external filter like the yamaha and Honda's that still last forever...
@kkhalifah1019 I missed that feature when I watched the review. I wonder if it's a solid nav bar? Definitely a bonus feature if it's functional and solid.
As someone who wants to add the Himi 452 to the stable in the New Year, this is the only alternative out of everything else I've looked at on the market. I honestly feel this might be a real hidden gem from a Chinese manufacturer. CFMoto are the only Chinese manufacturer to enter Moto3, which is a testament to build quality and specification, as regulations are pretty gnarly for competitive racing. This speaks some volumes to me. I think the overall stance is killer, it's a Twin too, with a 270° crank, that ticks a huge box for me being a lover of the Triumph Bonnie engines. The little details like the brake caliper cover, and the finish of the switchgear look sweet so far. I can't wait to see one in the metal and test ride it! At the moment, my only downside is colourways! Bring some Matte paint and a darker colour scheme, and I'm there 🙌🏼 great vid as always dude 🤙🏼
If that's 200kg WITH all the protection bits like the 800MT comes with, that's fantastic news. I can't wait to take a demo ride on one of these things.
Maybe instead of the 451cc Ninja 500, Z-500 that Kawasaki just announced and the 451cc Eliminator from last year they should have done a Versys 500 or KLR 500 to compete with this.
Agree! I need to test ride both bikes and see which I prefer. Esthetics of this bike is just 🔥 Imagine Honda Transalp 750 in this outfit. Nothing beats Japanese build quality so that is the only thing to worry about when it comes to this bike. But we will see future reviews when they enter market.
This is the direction the market should follow. It is almost perfect, if the wet weight could be 170/185 kg, ABS completely off and cruise control added down the line and the price undercuts the market thia is some unicorn stuff from CF Moto.
The individual bike coverage/vids have been great but, will you be showing any of the rest of the new products at the show such as helmets or clothing or any other accessories? Thanks a keep up the great work.
If you're in the market for this kind of ride it's an impressive package. If the price comes in under the Honda NX, I can't see a reason not to buy one.
This and the Himalayan will be the go-to, light weight Adv and beginner adv. Himi for more offroading and 450 MT for more on the road but both being fantastic options. I envy new riders.
@@MikesProjectsandHobbiesMC I was about to argue the power but your right the torque for the 450 Himi is 3 lbft less. I wait to see on the suspension as that's something we need to feel out. As long as CFmoto has their throttle and fueling down, I think your right! I also own the 800 Ibex/MT hence why I bring up the fueling.
@@Cabooseified What do you think about the Ibex? I’m looking at something a little smaller but I’m curious. I’ve had an Africa Twin and now a 1250GS (freaking love it) but I’m about to give up and build my own midsize to light weight adventure bike out of a DR650 or XR650.
@@MikesProjectsandHobbiesMC personally I would wait for the Kove 800 rally if you are looking for performance. The 800 Ibex to me is just a poor mans mini 1250 GS. Heated seat and grips, cruise control, decent suspension. Over all it's not too bad. I need to get the KTM 790 clutch adjuster for better clutch feel. Other than that the throttle is pretty twitchy. Honestly another option is a used F650GS. I have one set up for the TAT. 340 lbs, 75 MPG and some amazing power. The best upgrade in the world for that bike is a stronger fuel pump. It's a direct bolt on and boosts the PSI by double! The bike has a ton more power. I've heard most people love adving their DR650. Pretty easy to modify, get a lectron carb and exhaust and boom a ton more power. The biggest issue is the lack of a 6th gear
@@MikesProjectsandHobbiesMCit seems you are comoaring dry weight with kerb weight mate , its hardly 4 to 5 kgs heavier and this bike looks pure plastic
Thanks for the video. It's cool to see that someone is finally building this thing. Did it have cruise control? That's one thing I couldn't quite tell in the video. If it did, it would be my unicorn.
I like the bike. CFMoto is definitely finding their identity. Does Aprilia have anything going there? Also, how bout some helmet and accessories coverage please? Thank you for the vids. Your content is on point, informative, and professional. Love it!!!
The CF moto line up could clean up if they had a decent dealership network. I would have bought the cfmoto 800mt explore a few months ago. But here in Spain they are being sold online and by apparel stores. Not motorcycle dealers, they have no part ex capacity you just have to buy the bike. Where do you get it serviced, back up warranty etc. maybe they will sort it in 2024
Thanks a lot for another great video. Would you look at the new V85TT please? Diolch yn fawr.

If there is a brand that can break the "made in china" stigma it is CFmoto. Just like the mt 800 explore, this bike will make the difference in the sub 500 ADV segment, that is a starting point for many. IF they deliver on quality in this bike, all it's owners will prefer to risk on the bigger bikes of this brand, rather than to invest on others. excelent strattegy.
Great presentation again, nice to see CF Moto have used my initials to try and tease me into buying it. I’ll be interested in what the price will be in New Zealand, my local supplier has been dealership of the year for the last two years so fingers crossed they get a demo soon. Thanks again, keep up the great work!
A lot of adventure bikes nowadays in the market. For me, for us to know if the brand is reliable is they need to have at least one entry in Dakar rally. This should be the testing ground of all the brands. If you want to sell us your adventure bikes, prove it in Dakar first.
I'm on about to swap my CBF 1000 for something cheaper to run, that bike seams to tick all the boxes. Power enough, light weight, looks great, will see
A 60+ hp version could be super. I don't know why manufacturers aren't targeting the 650cc area. The MT 800 doesn't look like the same chassis, but the MTX Concept if built could be the adventure bike to watch for. I assume it's a 790 clone?
The bike looks really good.. I've been a sports rider all my life and would like to explore the Adv world. This bike might be the perfect start for me.
I'm currently riding a Yamaha WR155, with 133 KG dry weight, it is so much smaller, with fuel consumption about 2L/100km. A Full 8 Litre Tank could go up to 400km range. Possibly, has more range than this 450 MT. So, I think, if you really really want an adventure, Small displacement actually makes more sense. Bigger CC is just for you to do cool tricks and ride faster.
Given the apparent quality of the product and with the launch of the MT700, which will replace the MT650, I think they will push up the prices. The MT700 should be in the €8000/8500 range and this MT 450 probably €7000/7500. The recently launched 450SR, with the same motorisation, is €6500, so the MT with more extras/investment should be in the €7000/7500 range. My guess is that the RE himalyan will come out in a lower price range (€6000/6500), which could give it some advantage in terms of sales. Just my point ✌
thanks for listening, I think your right but it would have to be a lower price than the Honda perhaps by a grand. The 800mt can be had fully specified with luggage for £9200.
BOB I always like your reviews and your approach towards motorbikes but sorry to put my personal view regarding CFMOTO ---- Copying the Design from so many other motorcycle modules..... Chinese Motorcycle quality is the big question? Is it dependable? I really do not understand why people only look at "Cheap price " IF you have a passion for motorcycles, you better look for something else and more dependable modules .....
This is my next bike. 100% nailed it on power spec, and you know they are gonna have to undercut Enfield, and Honda for market share. Don’t like the colour scheme, however if there’s a black one….yesssss please ✌🏼🙏🏼🤞
Nice one MB! Thinking I will volunteer to be a crash test dummy on my current ride - XR650L with a few choice bits so 3rd gear wheelies are a daily given. Admission of guilt is I have not translated well to the more modern options. I prefer the old school modified stuff a bit better - more seat height and 290mm of suspension travel are good in my books. I'm 1.78 (5-10 imperial) and height of bike has never been an issue since 1980 when my girl friend insisted we go bush riding with her dad's PE400. 250mm suspension travel + is good in my books
Am loving the look of this. Swaying toward this rather than the Himalayan.. just need to see them both.. shame the cfmoto dealer network is so spaced out in the UK. Its over 160 miles round trip to my nearest dealer!!!!
@@eastsidebadger8416 You're the only person I've ever heard say the Chinese better expand to your town FAST! Here in Aussieland we are shit scared of them 'expanding' here haha
Depends on pricing..the Rieju is going to be very expensive & I would bet the Himmy will be cheaper. CF seems to be only slightly cheaper than the Japanese. Dealers seem to be an issue with CF. Imo I like the CF & Beta Alp but for me dealer support is an issue.
Reiju is 8.900 Euro as it stands. Not a lot of money for a decently specd up bike. This need to come around the new Himmy or very close and it will be a golden deal.
@@mermerac9610 If its £7500 ish with that big tank its got to be looked at I would say if you are looking at bikes around that price point. Well I would...2+ days worth of petrol yes please. It looks like the price diff maybe 1k..so quite a bit...
Hi MotoBob excellent coverage of EICMA 2023 and another excellent CFMOTO MT 450cc motorcycles looking trendy and big game changers in international market in 450cc Adventure motorcycles.I liked the trendy looking most beautiful motorcycles of MotoMorini Milano and CFMOTO MT 450CC.HD 350x and HD 500cc made in China are also Nice looking beautiful motorcycles.i liked your video.its excellent💯🎉
The weight and extra complexity of a 450 liquid twin, for 43 hp? I mean a 1960s Triumph 500 was 40 hp. So the CF makes bikes like a DR650 look better every day.
This engine tuned in the street bikes has higher HP. It's been altered in this for higher torque. Also, they're strangled by emissions requirements. So it actually does make more power per cc than the Triumph. Pretty much ALL bikes except for the top of the line 4 cyclinder machines haven't really moved up much in HP in years due to reliability and cost concerns of components. They're really not getting much better in terms of engine or power, but they are in terms of REFINEMENT and technology. A dr650 is great but they feel old. This bike will feel modern and more refined. I guess that's the real difference. Motorcycles are basically stagnating and have been for years IMO
A lot of Plastic at the front which is a shame because it then requires crash bars to protect all that plastic which then adds to the weight. Why they have 2 separate headlights I'm not sure as it adds weight & complexity & I don't think it really does much for the looks of the bike in my opinion.. Made in China so I'd be nervous about the engine, & how good they'll be with parts back up or long term support for the model is something else. Otherwise their are a lot of positives like the spoked wheels at 21" & 18" tubeless-twin cylinder engine for gross under 200 kg, 270 degree crank for that unique V twin sound-adjustable screen-alloy swing arm-
Agree with everything you've said, except one thing - come on dude, get to the party. Everyone knows the good chinese stuff is good quality these days, get out of 2005 mindset.
The bike look stunning! What is the fuel tank capacity and is there any USB charging pot? I ain’t gonna use for off-road but rather appreciate the ergonomics and sitting position. Plus the seatheight and weight not too intimidating for extremely vertical challenging guy like me in the adventure bike perspective. Thanks for reading and responding. Also sorry for the poor grammar 😊
This looks like what Versys X300 have wanted from both Kawasaki and Yamaha, a smaller lighter Tenere, and a better option to upgrade from a Versys x300 than the Honda CB500X or the NX. I'm saying this as an owner of a 1st gen Versys X300
You may have seen one and didn't know it. CF moto has been building budget components and even entire engine assemblies for the big 4 Japanese manufacturers since the 1980's. In Japan, like the U,S, labor is expensive.
One word! .....HIMALAYAN! Apart from the mill being a twin pot, against the Royal Enfield's 452cc single, there's not much difference between the two bikes! Even the style and other specs are VERY similar! Royal Enfield OWN this segment, by simple virtue of the fact they created it! Their dominance is illustrated by the number of other manufacturers trying to bring their own versions to market! ....and that was when the 411cc air cooled 20hp motor was being used! NOW, RE have brought out their "Sherpa" 452cc water cooled motor, and it seems, by all reports so far, to have elevated the bike to NEW HEIGHTS! If The CF Moto 450 can perform as well as the new Himalayan, and come to market in the same price bracket, then it might just have a future. Until the "back-to-back" rider reports come in, I'll put my money on the "daddy" of the segment!
Himalayan bike is mostly hyped marketing. I question myself why people buy these 450cc with just 24hp? Hype of course. So much ❄ down below. Why? Can't accept the fact you're buying yourself a relic?
@@manugatzi6158 showing your ignorance? The 411cc had 20.5hp but a useable amount of torque. It was also HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by many overlanders! The 452cc water cooled motor has 40hp! The new bikes are MUCH more able to keep up with faster traffic when needed, but those who find this unacceptable STILL haven't grasped the purpose of this type of bike! BOTH BIKES jave garnered UNIVERSAL PRAISE, for their usability across many sitiations, and illustrated the phrase, "greater than the sum of it's parts" MANY TIMES!
Do you own a 411 Himalayan? Those bikes are not holding up well in the US market in my opinion, our highways speeds pushes them past their useful limits. Honestly a 25 year old Suzuki DRZ400 and DR650 is a superior bike to the Himalayan in every single way. I have a 411 Himalayan and its my first and last RE product. Its a fun nostalgic piece but its built like something from 1975 China.
@@black8art was refereeing to the first one. At 24hp, its just a 200cc motor for others. And to compare it now with the upcoming 450MT, its simply is irrelevant imo.

I need some adv advice ! I’m 5’5” and when I sat on the Kove 400x, 500x , Voge 500dsx and those types of “small”adv bikes I felt like o couldn’t see anything in front of me; about 3 meters out was ok but I’m used to being on a naked and it seemed unsettling to have such a blind spot. Is this normal? Is it something that you just get used to? Any comments from shorter experienced riders? Thanks in advance!
Those are going to be coming in thick and fast when both bikes are released I am sure. India vs China. It's weird how that's a thing now with products and not just border disputes haha
They have been listening and this bike nails the features we've all been asking for. Hopefully this forces REAL competition in the lightweight ADV market, and we'll see more sub 350 pound highway-tolerable enduros and off-road-ish ADV's... Someone please build me a new bike with dials and no screen!
The big brands specially the premium ones, have to look out for these new comers. They will hit hard the competition sales if they don’t back up on prices or Service offered… I still think that these Chinese Brands have a long way to go in terms of availability of parts in European market, but when they´ve got the European covered with a strong dealership network it can be a nightmare for the European brands, if they go global, because if they target mainly Eastern Market, that’s not so bad! Generally their growth is good news for the consumer!
