The cool part about this new FM-1 by Tamiya is that they redid the wings from their F4F-4 kit. FM-1s were built by Ford Motor (FM), after Grumman went on to focus their efforts on the F6F. There was a need to have a fighter that could takeoff and land from smaller carriers. So Ford was tasked to keep building the wildcat. When they set up the assembly line the two additional guns that had been added to the F4F-4 were deleted. The new wings in this release reflect those changes. Lots of options to paint a FM-1, I am looking forward to building mine and putting it next to my F4F-3, F4F-4 and FM-2.
Looks like a great kit. I’m not bothered about the black and white drawings. You could look at it this way, if you wanted, you could color it in with the colors of a scheme you liked. Kinda like a proof image. Have fun with your build.
I have had great success with Tamiya decals even on natural metal. I use Gunze Mr Mark Softer and Setter. In my opinion they perform as well as most after market decals with these solutions.
Why did your decal turn did you put down mark fit you should've put the decal on the model first line them up first on the plane then apply decal set after there should be no way that they rip in the first place also make sure you water does not cool down i. done this kit with no issue
So yes all of the above, I crank my heater up in my whol house to 80 degrees when I decale now, but yest that's why it ripped cause of the top. Change. There isn't lack of effort on my part, I spend a lot of time dealing.
