The show was better than I expected based on some social media comments I read. I think people just need time to get accustomed to something new. I recall being a the same way when "Wishes" went away and "Happily Ever After" was the new show. The only thing I wonder is why they didn't call it "You Are the Magic," since that seems to be the recurring refrain?
The projections were very pretty, but my full thoughts will be in the vlog! Figured I would upload the full thing so that in the vlog I can just show parts of it! Hahaha HOPEFULLY SOON!
What do you mean?? XD The structure of the show is still similar, but they way they conducted it was very rushed and no emotion at all. HEA used a variety of movies to hit the nostalgia to guests. The show was also set into segments: Opening, Dreams, Journey, Friendship, Love, Adversity Triumph, and the finale. HEA message was how YOU are the one who needs to make your decisions to find YOUR happily ever after. Disney Enchantment is just...you are the magic= you are the consumer. The structure of the theme song is set to bring people into the parks, which it does kind of work. There is also a heavy amount of Moana which is not needed. I'll say 60 or 70% of the show is Moana. If Disney wanted to not make a show about the history of the park, I'm find with that, then either make the show to nostalgia of classic and new Disney music (HEA) or make it a celebration of modern/classic Disney songs like Illuminate: A Nighttime Celebration.
Oh, I should also mention, HEA projection did get more love and passion than this show. Majority of the animation in HEA was original, and specifically made for the firework show. This made it possible for characters or even the villains to have its own theme surround the castle so guests as far from the train station can see it. To the majority of streamers I watch on opening night, majority of them said, If you are near the end of main street, don't bother to know what is on the castle. This is a big problem, since guests won't be able to know what characters are going to be featured. My all time fav example is the Ursula segment in HEA, she towers over Magic Kingdom, If you watch this video, I bet you won't be able to tell what characters are being featured. An example from the projection show, Once Upon a Time, people complained that the projection was not placed right because people who are further down Main Street won't be able to see it. Disney took note of that, which is why HEA was so amazing on projection. Yes, Disney Enchantment is good, but I would not say it is as good as HEA. They did update the projectors for this show so it will appear stronger, but the love and passion was really lacked. The show production started in 2019.
Sadly, I think you’re right…. Breaks my heart that we couldn’t just get an enhanced HEA with a 50th end tag or something…. I truly believe this show won’t last past the celebration and we will get HEA back.
