Meet the latest addition to the team: an AgroLED® Sun Par™ 5,000°K LED growlight - it's driving some incredible growth on my incredibly lush plants growing in deep water culture hydroponics. Go take a look!
Hey Everest, Any chance you CAN talk more about setting up the DWC peppers? Especially some of the more touchy maneuvers. You've sort of touched on every aspect, but i'd really love to see a full guide: How long you germinate peppers or tomatoes, what sort of equipment you use to pump and airstone a DWC, how you transfer peppers as they get bigger (which can get really tricky if you let the roots in rockwool get too long!). I'd love to see one comprehensive "The Everest School of DWC" collective video.

lights are great and all...I am looking forward to the video about adding O2 to your DWC (bubbler). Don't act like we didn't see the signs in your tent. Great Video as always!
Great to hear from you after a break. 1:28 - True, a Watt used is heat created; with an LED or a Freezer - it's Efficiency that is the key to less heat. 2:17 - I like a little bounce off of the walls combined with rotation, with that 120° footprint you'll have to swap around the position of each to even the light each plant receives. With 4x using 90° and dimmed you'd be able to crank them at the end of the season. A fan instead of an attic hatch will warm your home, a Furnace Carbon Filter would provide less dust, etc. Vents each end or the eves are another choice if you like blowing hot air out of your home (usually not a good idea). Sure looks nice. YT, Rob
is your LEP still working well and if youre not using it would you consider selling it? :3 im planning to add a second light to my rotation and ive been curious about LEP and LEC to get more resin produc- i mean 'UV sunblock reaction.' :P *also does LEP come with bulbs or does it just have like a cartridge to replace or is it just one of those things that eventually dies out after a million billion years? havent researched it too much.
Will you be switching to a warmer spectrum for flowering/fruiting, or will that light suffice for the entire grow cycle? Personally, I'm experimenting with the 11W home led light-bulbs by breaking the diffusion domes and exposing the PCB boards. You can pick them up very cheap and in various colour temperatures. I prefer to supplement the red part of the spectrum with a 660nm red cob LED. I think this combination mimics the sun better --sans the UV.
I replaced my gavita 300 with ten 100 watt 5000k off the shelf led bulbs from homedepot. Only pull 14 watts each for 140 total. Best of all they are less than 50 cents a watt. looks like they have the same chips as the bulb in the video. You do need to cut the plastic bulb lens off and make a fixture, but I get much better growth in the corners of my space than I did with my gavita.
Did those bulbs work well for you? Also, is it neccessary to take the plastic diffuser off? I'm trying to give my African Violets more light but I'm a little nervous taking that plastic off. Is it safe?
nice led aren't there in price yet soon, hard to compare 1000 watt double end hps for around 200 dollars to the hi price led! soon they will be old school and the price will come down I hope
Hi Tim, the initial purchase price was a bit eye-watering for sure, but I calculated the cost of ownership over ten years and the amount you save on no lamp replacements is more than the cost of the fixture! So definitely worth considering - I've been on the fence with LEDs for yeeeears - definitely feels like I jumped in at a good time.
Tim Huss - Other factors are heat budget, how much electricity you are using and the price of electricity (along with bulb replacement). You need to add all costs. Big Greenhouses use LEDs because it saves them money. None of that puts money in your pocket to pay for them in the first place. The payback period from Single Ended cheap Bulb HPS and DE HPS seems about 7 years (depending upon the cost of electricity) - so if you switch the Fixture is *free* after 7 years use. LEDs are similar, 1/2 the Watts for a bit better results; so 1/2 price electricity (and less cooling) pays the price of the Fixture after a certain number of years. YT, Rob
Everest Fernandez I am working my way up to the led for special placement grow ,I am putting in a chiller system with lots of cooling power, for water system and lights,so heat is not an issue ,maybe next harvest I may be able to swing that new one it's the only one that has caught my attention, I appreciate your efforts to educate!
+bcbudinto Hmmm good question! Fewer corners for me to head butt? (Although I have already collided with it once and it drew blood to my forehead - chunky beasts!) - when growing one or two plants it's rather practical - might be trickier to stitch them together to form a matrix / compound lighting plan though. I'll get them both on the test grid soon and we will take a look at the numbers.
If you want the highest yields with spectrum control go with the new solarsystem series from california lightworks. If you want the highest yields period try the alpha LED grow lights from hydro grow. The hydro grow lights are so hush hush that nearly no one knows to look for them but they consistantly put out award winning performance so much so that they had a $5000 contest to any LED light that can out perform them. Just giving you some ideas about other setups to try.
+Waleed Mcclintock Hello Waleed, the K (Kelvin) refers to the overall color temperature of the spectrum. So plants respond to a whole range of different wavelengths of radiation that make up those color temperatures. The range of radiation that plants respond to is known as PAR or photosynthetically active radiation and is commonly defined as 400 to 700 nanometers. Hope this clarifies matters amigo. Hit me up with more questions if you want. Peace and happy growing, Everest.
+richard schmitt Thanks / but I could not find anything to match the power (300W) / build quality and with adjustable optics included. If you find something please post a link. Thanks again amigo.
I appreciate the review on the lights, but i am way more interested in the electrolysis test. i have been playing with the idea of building a few electrolysis devices (either in 316l steel, titanium or carbon - to minimize possible reactions), but i am not really sure how much you can trust that to work in something like a nutrient solution that's so heavy on particles, without creating some nasty by products. although there are commercial devices sold, for shrimp tanks and for nutrient tanks. I ordered something to test out. But I'd be interested what your experience is. Good videos btw, love the quality and professionalism.
Can plants actually use negatively charged Oxygen, produced from electrolysis? -O is also found in Hydrogen Peroxide and while it's an effective biocide, it's most unlikely usable by plants. I'd like to see a study or a testimonial or two with -O versus +O.
those who sell it claim so at least... not sure if it really matters to them. Here are some tests: www.o2grow.com/certified-tests.php - but they are on the website of a company that sells it, so it might as well be biased.
@@maximosh actually if you use hydrogen peroxide as a biocide in your plant containers it works great but is absorbed by your plants making them taste like airy blandness, forget any natural tastes to your plants, I tried it once to get rid of bugs in my soil safe for your plants they said, youll never notice they said, safe it was but notice I did to never do so again maybe I used too much I'm not sure but I won't be doing it again
just curious here, but did you see a guy on youtube selling tools that inject oxygen in soil pot? and do you think they would work in terms of providing more Os for the roots?
hanith forman there the best check out there full spectrum all the way from 400nm and up which most cheap led lights don't cover that spectrum really check out there website.. also if your on a budget check out kingbo led and also spiderfarm ..hope this helps..
cheers, pal. Just wanted to know if they are worth the price. I often see people claiming a 1000w hps/hid can out perform LEDs at same watts, but i found on top of the scale model leds have great reviews. Initially wanted to go for californialightworks and then budmaster. but was told by my local store black dog trumps them all.
