I’ve always been a fan of the air cure system for not needing an oven. Atomizes very well and wether hvlp or rp spray gun. I’ve never had issues with modeling up color and always an easy way to feather edge any imperfections for blending
AWESOME. Glad to see your business being built up like this. I would love to work there. Hey quick question on cerakoting. Have you ever done, or will you ever do a tests/experiments on this stuff? For example say, utilizing say different blasting media to get a different surface finish, or spraying it on a tad thicker and lowering the curing temps by say 50, while increasing the oven times a tad all to test abrasion resistance? I've always wondered if a rougher surface finish provided by aluminum or magnesium oxide would help cerakotes abrasion resistance.
Interesting thoughts, when you go to cerakote headquarters for the certified applicator training, they run you through a whole bunch of test scenarios (you can see test plates, where they have performed tests) that they have done literally hundreds of experiments to test pretty much every aspect of their product including things like diamond points running against the surface and what not.
pretty kool stuff going on there ! Speaking of trigger profiling did you ever do that test after you put the gun in the freezer and repeat the test compared to room temps ?
Lol, I bought their oven. It still works but their spray booths are not a good option. You can build a one twice the size for what light armor charges. Light armor uses metal wall studs and self tap sheet metal
@@EagleEyeShooting I agree. I also own one of their ovens as well. It works. It's not bad, but it's not great either. I'm definitely skipping both of these brands when I purchase my next oven. Thanks for the tip on their spray booths!
@@philbaker29 Its all about continous improvement. Trying out products, finding out what works, pros/cons, and sometimes going a different route. I considered the Light Armor Oven until UR recent video dropped and I asked what He thought about the differences between two brands. He relied next level. I ordered a single oven and spray booth. It was damaged in shipping and @builtamericanequipment helped me out and did me a solid!! So I upgraded to same setup as UR! They have excellent, unparalleled customer service!
We did our first run (4, basically prototypes) recently, and we're working on specs and pricing for the next run which will involve a more formal process, etc including pricing!

It was damaged in shipping and @builtamericanequipment helped me out and did me a solid and started building replacments immediatly!! So I upgraded to same setup as UR!
I’m out still, it’s an insulated box with a heating element and a fan. The markup is insane. Just because it’s comparable to others doesn’t mean you’re not getting ripped off. Have fun with that thing.
