Blabbot: I love you. There, I said it. Me: Aw, I love you too, buddy. Blabbot: I am in love with you. Me: ...Mate, you're a plastic children's toy. I meant it in a platonic sense.
When Amanda says she feels like she's "rotting" and that it's "far away", I think she's referencing her corpse. At the end she says that she's "out there, somewhere"
My guess is Amanda is the adopted daughter of the guy who created the show, and she got stuck in a trap in the woods and died. She was able to live on in the tapes, but went insane as a result. I'm not sure how Wooly and the other missing kids fit in, maybe Amanda's dad wanted to give her friends in her tv show world and used some form of black magic to do so (as silly as that sounds)
Oh God... That line makes a lot of sense with this in mind... That's just morbid ;-; But it makes for excellent and twisted horror, so that's pretty cool I guess lol
In one of the tapes there is real life footage of someone watching amanda the adventurer and their parents say hey come down we have a cake for your birthday! It’s mint choc chip! Then the boy disappears and wooly says he likes mint choc chip…oh and there’s a tape where it’s his birthday.
@@deen7530 In one of the secret tapes it shows that the company was trying to do something devious to the adopted daughter that sam (her dad and the show creator) wasn't cool with. And in another there's a news story where the company talks about how they don't know why sam went missing but they're keeping the daughter out of the public eye and cancelling any planned public appearances for her mental health, or more likely because they did something to her. I don't think he put her in the tapes. I think the company is keeping her body somewhere so they can keep the show as popular as it's supposed to be since it's hypnotizing the kids that watch it. In the comments on a different playthrough someone else pointed out that the stuff they had her say in a secret tape could be them getting her to chant the names of different demons. Like bye/yell (belial) and pie/man (paimon). The tape ended with her talking to someone that wasn't there and saying that she didn't want to do something.
Wooly seems about as self aware as Amanda, maybe even more considering he can notice things going wrong and actively tries to stop you from continuing the tapes sometimes. In the birthday card tape he seems to gain a bit of control, being able to make all the other cards sold out by himself while amanda goes through some stuff. He's going to remain my favorite until the fandom dies.
I'm glad they didn't stick with Amanda being completely sadistic, and Woolie being completely out of control. That alternate store shopping tape really showed a lot of depth to their situation. Correction, sadistic
I didn’t expect them to go the route of “Amanda is a victim in this situation also”. She was pretty irredeemable to me in the demo updates, but in this release, she seems like someone fighting with something, forcibly transformed into the being she is, and playing along to make the best of a bad situation. Even Wooly pities her, as shown in the “birthday card” segment.
@@ujjssjsjsjjsjs8061 i am optimistic about this twist, but only if we get some hint of who the Big Big Bad actually is. It’ll be disappointing if it’s left completely open ended.
I'm assuming Wooly's "job" is to keep Amanda as stable as possible so she doesn't start doing... all that meta stuff. Maybe it's antagonistic in nature, but I like to think he's genuinely worried about her, so he tries his best to keep things as they are supposed to be ("Nothing's rotten here.") so she doesn't get upset and uh, straight up possessed, I guess.
i'm not sure if anyone else has talked about it, but in the other version of the episode where they go to the store to buy a card, the music notes on the wall spell out facade. i think it's so cool to have an easter egg that's sort of hiding in plain sight, just because there's a limit to what you can spell out using music notes, and that people who know how to read music can figure it out so easily
I think it is really funny that the devs put an embargo on endings. They knew RU-vidrs would try everything. Devs really said, "Slow down. Enjoy the ride." I take for granted how much work goes into making these games and how much time and effort was put into the project.
@@Bloomkyaaa - That’s… literally a standard practice for review copies. Companies make reviewers sign NDAs to avoid spoiling certain elements of the game regularly. The most recent example that springs to mind is that Nintendo put an embargo on reviews for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet until the day before its release.
The embargo doesn't make any sense lol. Like, if someone bought it right when it was released today, they could release a video on all secrets/endings the same day. Meanwhile, someone who got the early-release copy has to wait 3-4 days before releasing the exact same video. It doesn't solve anything It would've made a lot more sense if the early-release copies were released a few days before launch, to drum up hype
@@smittywerbenjagermanjensen4007 - It actually makes perfect sense, at least to me. The people currently under the embargo are the RU-vidrs people typically go to for watching full gameplays of horror games. Their core audiences are likely waiting to see the full endings playthrough from them rather than seeking out another source and are thus encouraged to try the game themselves in the downtime. Meanwhile, anyone who is currently seeking out the gameplay videos from smaller channels are likely other people who are searching for a guide on the game, and the videos likely won’t have the same reach as the big content creators. It’s more inconvenient to find a smaller channel that can be reliably trusted to deliver all the game’s content. The RU-vidrs got a head start to find everything leading up to when they’re released from the embargo while everyone else is in an arms race to find as much as they can and post videos as fast as they can. In theory, this strategy should protect the launch window, which is when a game is most profitable. Or maybe I’m just deluding myself into thinking this is a really smart marketing strategy lol (Also, your name is absolute bitch to reply to on mobile, I kinda love it)
I've figured out why the "I'm out there...somewhere" line freaks me out so badly. Because her voice isn't being filtered through an old VHS. It makes her sound like she's in the room with you
Sometimes I think Manly's sole purpose in life is to irritate this little cartoon girl when he plays this game lmao It's pretty amazing to see this game having a full release. I remember seeing the original oneshot and how neat it was, it's great to see the devs be able to make something out of it.
There's something so hilarious and tragic about the "lonely kitten" scene. Maybe the kitten is a metaphor for Amanda herself and while she doesn't fully get it due to her age, the trauma about her situation leads her to freak out over Riley not wanting to help it and her by comparison. Idk, but there's something so sad about her screaming about helping the lonely kitten as she's transforming into the entity. It really makes me feel that she's not fully in control, but sometimes she benefits from it's powers when she's harming Wooly. Or... in the cases where Amanda is more sadistic, it's the entity manipulating her actions. I guess we'll know once we see the rest of the endings. But it really makes me feel like Amanda isn't the one in control, that or there's a chronological order to the tapes that we haven't seen yet. Especially in the sharing ending, she sounds so lonely. It's easy to imagine that some part of her misses Wooly, but she's not even allowed to say it. it's hard not to sympathize with her at times... Even when she shares her secret, it feels so... sad. You would expect it to be more triumphant, she's not something that can be contained within the tapes, she's free and has been this whole time... but she's not. I think the second most... disturbing thing was seeing Wooly become more and more animal like as the zoo tape continued, until he's just another sheep munching on grass. Overall, I'm really happy to see how far they've gotten with the initial premise. I was excited to see the whole attic area because they could do a lot of creative stuff with it, and I'm so glad to see it's been utilized so well.
When Amanda said "I'm out there, somewhere..." I don't think she was referring to her monster form. I think she was referring to her body. She mentions feeling like she's "rotting somewhere far away," which makes me think that she has a corpse in the real world but a consciousness in the tapes. I wonder if the monster is actually even her?
@@rowancook4369 My best guess is Melissa summoned a demon through that ritual that producer guy was trying to make her do and it consumed her soul. Her body itself was buried somewhere by the company in order to dispose of the evidence. Somehow her soul was able to connect enough to 'Amanda' that she could reach out to others through the show, but she isn't in complete control, and someone possibly being a jerk to her can traumatize her enough to summon her demon form to come kill the viewer (like the kitten bit). She crying out for help for someone to find her body and unearth it so her soul can escape from the demon. One particularly odd thing I noticed is Hamlen's motto, 'Follow Us to Fun', along with the mouse shape of the logo. It made me think of the fable of the Pied Piper, who could hypnotize rats or children to follow him with his music. It makes me wonder if the show was being used to hypnotize children to lure them to the Hamlen company and have their souls be taken by demons. That one puzzle with the mousetrap and using the cheese to kill a rat for it's meat might lean in that suggestion
I love how with each playthrough, you get more codes and routes. It really helps each playthrough feel unique and makes finding new clues feel so rewarding.
Interesting how Amanda doesn't seem to want to go through killing whooly at the butcher's again. She clearly knows that it wouldn't be permanent, yet she doesn't wanna go through with it another time, despite killing whooly another time in another tape. Maybe it has something to do with specific series of events, and she's tired of going through the same recordings over and over?
Okay but like, I love how it seems wooly actually is taking opposition to Amanda at times now, and also it does seem Amanda has a good side, this might bode well for future games in my opinion
9:25 Rebecca Colton is the voice actress of Amanda. At 19:47 we see a news article about Sam Colton, who presumably created the show. The article talks about Sam's "adopted daughter." Notice that at the petting zoo, amanda gets sad when talking about the father chicken.
29:54 I think what happened to Lauren here is the same thing that happened to the player in the "meat ending." Notice the parents look out the screen door at the end. I imagine that it turned into a portal like the attic door did for us.
Personally I think it's a sign that Lauren became Amanda somehow given how her favorite ice cream was mint chocolate chip and...well. what amanda said after Lauren vanished.
The detail I absolutely love is that they also used parts of the old version of the game. Or the animations, or the originality... I can't list of how amazing this is, clearly a well-thought game!
There’s definitely something going on with the emergency alert messages. Times and dates aren’t right considering they’re on the same tape during the same episode, which makes me think there’s hidden lore. Severe Thunderstorm Warning is 05/06/03 21:00:00 Tornado Warning is 02/29/04 23:00:00 Flooding Warning is 04/08/94 20:42:00 Blizzard Warning is 13/30/99 40:65:00 Also the Blizzard Warning is the only one with a different recommendation message. While the other ones say “It is recommended that you stop and check your environment for any potential hazards during the effective warning period” that one says “The National Weather Service recommends that you stay calm and don’t move around your environment at all”. There’s definitely something more going on here. 🤔
This animation has gotten so dang crispy, I love it! Amanda’s so much more expressive, and this show honestly does feel like some of the really old, low budget 3D cartoons I’ve seen when I was really young
Amanda got an attitude lol also I can’t tell if Wooly’s trying to calm her down in that one episode or manipulate her or maybe he’s doing both. but it doesn’t seem like Wooly has ill intentions and if he does then he’s damn good at hiding it that “Do you trust me?” Doesn’t sit right with me.
I'm actually pretty surprised a lot of the assets came from CC libraries like Sketchfab. It's not everyday you see a game with so many open assets actually pull off good atmosphere and writing! Really something special here, hoping they continue it if they leave the endings open-ended. Excited to see all the endings in a few days!
I feel like you missed one thing, the combination of the banana and strawberry in the oven, since it was referenced in the interview paper. Over all, the game is definitely interesting, makes you think "What did Amanda or her father do to cause this?", the game also has who question, "Who IS Wooly?". I would definitely love to play the game myself some time. Over all, great playthrough!
The part where you leave the video to turn the oven on and come back to Amanda and Wooly screaming because their oven is on fire was SO HILARIOUS and unexpected.
about halfway through this so far and wow, this project really came into its own for its commercial release. the idea was fun from the get-go but i was starting to get a bit worried about the general progression getting stale as the preview builds came out. they did a fantastic job expanding on and improving the flow and the horror. very pleasantly surprised :)
This is a massive relief! I was so worried this game would end up being another cash-grab in the mascot horror market but this game is actually really good!
@@gisi5276 idk,, they have the main characters name in the title, she’s in basically every part of the game and the game has a very childish aesthetic which checks off all the boxes for mascot horror games. Agree to disagree??
It's interesting that Amanda seems to relate to the lonely kitten. Assuming Amanda is Sam's adopted daughter, maybe awful things were happening behind the scenes? I kinda get the feeling that Sam made some sort of deal so his show would become popular, in exchange for his daughter.
I haven't seen anybody mention it yet, but I LOVE all the little details in the animations. Specifically woolys. It's genuinely great to see how much this has improved from the original version.
14:28 There is a book with a cypher, like the one on the fridge in the demo. Edit: I went back to the demo translations and I think this one says, "Who Is Wooly?"
i absolutely love how dynamics wooly's facial expressions are. it makes him feel real, and its a little haunting when hes standing next to dead-stared amanda
The secret with the oven on fire was actually added because of a fake trailer somebody made that was that exact clip. It's funny how they added a bootleg to the game.
Amanda the Adventurer has really turned into an interesting and entertaining ride. I really hope the devs end up releasing more games because it's pretty clear they have the skill, dedication, and imagination to release solid games.
so a theory that i think some might agree with, the "monster" amanda and the tape amanda are connected yet also separete entities, for an analogy as to how i think their relatioship is: tape amanda is the laser dot and the monster is the guided missile. while she seems to have no qualms about working as the locator for the monster we see in the "do you want to be my fired" death that regrets having led the monster to you yet posesses no power to divert it when it is so close (hence why i consider it to be a separate/autonomus entity). she also apparently does not have full controll over the realm, and whooly is not the only one who can interefere with it (weather he is actually good or posing is something we have to wait and see).
This is a great game. I love the ability to pause the tapes and the game being effected by that. It’s shows that you really need to run through the game a few times to see different outcomes and scenes
43:16 I'm surprised that Amanda has more conventional "standards" when it comes to what animals she pretends to be interested in. I guess that even cassette tape possessing demons are scared of spiders and snakes.
This is a really fun variant on a certain visual novel series, where you play other routes, find clues in those routes that then unlock different, more secret routes as you go. It's like you're seeing it all physically rather than with a flowchart. It's cool!
Does anyone else feel it's less scary when the monster attacks and the horror is more overt? Just finding out this secret story, piecing it together and seeing the show get more and more warped is already pretty haunting? Outright supernatural elements often feel hokey in contrast.
Amanda the Adventurer: the only game where you can break a little cartoon girl’s patience and mental / psychological wellbeing by intentionally choosing the wrong answer on purpose.
I like the little nod of the Pied Piper reference of the studio's name. The Pied Piper of Hemeln lead the children out of town, either to drown in the river like he did the rats, or to a better place. Hemeln or Amanda lead children to possibly their doom or a better place in Amanda's eyes seeing as what was probably done to her when Hameln betrayed her or her father. It's and interesting detail that I think ties the story together.
Much more interested in the story with the full release. The demos all just make the whole thing seem very one-dimensional. Mascot of Kids show is really big scary monster! OooOOOo! But this time, I felt genuinely sorry for Amanda at times. Props to the actress, they did a really good job. It's like she's suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's but isn't fully aware of it and doesn't understand what's happening to her. You can feel the mixture of anger, confusion and fear in her voice whenever she has her "outbursts", as opposed to before when it was just "flagrantly evil monster failing to pretend to not be evil". Not to mention she is aware to a degree of people outside of the tapes trying to help her, as shown by when she was trying to send a gift to "Kate" but it had been so long that she couldn't remember her name. Meanwhile, they also turned Woolie from just her victim to someone who seems like he's genuinely trying to help her instead of just being held hostage. All characters involved just in general got a massive glow-up. Interested to see where this goes once you're allowed to release all endings. Props to the devs. They turned what I fully expected to be an escape room puzzle game with a very two-dimensional villain into an intriguing mystery.
I am beyond impressed. Never really took this game seriously before when it was in its earlier stages, but the devs have absolutely knocked it out of the park with this final release. Consider me proven wrong.
I love how this started as a small project, but it became much bigger with the community's support and love. Honestly surprised me. I love both the polished version and the older version. The intro cutscene where the mother's daughter goes missing gives me the chills because whether or not it's paranormal, it can happen in an instant. I know people who've lost their children like that.
Been a long time coming. I remember the very first version of this game, and it's impressive just how it's changed and improved. Looking forward to the remaining secrets and endings.
AH! Plz type “Riley” instead of Wooly for the “friend” route! Idk if you noticed, but it’s 5 letters, and if you get it wrong, “wooly”’s name changes to “?????”. I think wooly is a child trapped in the tv or something
Did anyone notice that credits in the tapes are weird? Like, in store tape the last person Danny is "containment specialist", and in accidents tape last guy Larry is "chief neurosurgical officer"? I wonder why those were needed for children show....
My theory is that Amanda was once a real girl who died tragically, and her father somehow kept her consciousness alive in this show. He made her a friend (Wooly) and a world to control but all of it’s only temporary. Wooly knows he isn’t real and Amanda is desperate to come back into the real world. I don’t know what the entity represents, maybe it’s a side effect of Amanda’s loneliness
Can I just say how much I appreciate your videos? I know that every time I watch a playthrough from Manlybadasshero that I'm getting all the secrets all the endings (this video is an exception because I know you have to wait) and every last bit of content from the game. If possible he will always fit every ending into the video. Not only that but he also uploads the ENTIRE play-through in one video. I am never left waiting or wondering what I missed. You my good sir are a true professional at this and all I can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your work does not go unnoticed. I love you. The end.
Oh My God, They did such a good job on this game. From the small demo that it was to the huge game it has become. I LITERALLY CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THE REST.
what i like the most about this game is that it doesn't use the same ps1/n64 nostalgia horror like the others do, it preys on the fears of the kids who were born in the early late 90s-early 2000s which makes more effective to someone like me and is a breath of fresh air imo
1st off, I love how you were open about the embargo as well as followed through with the developers wishes. Far too many people would be willing to break that limitation for their channel's gain proving once again why you are among the best. 2nd, while watching through this video my personal RU-vid app crashed at 45:30 and I have never seen a more perfectly timed app crash than that. It caused a genuine startle which is rare while I am watching your channel because I am always anticipating something followed by me laughing for about a minute straight while getting back to where I was previously before the crash.
I’m about fifteen minutes in and noticing the company/studio at the end of the tapes is “Hameln,” with a mouse image… as in, The Pied Piper of Hameln, who spirited away the town children. Not sure if a relevant clue or just a fun reference.
Not entirely sure about this: But i believe the german word Hammeln is for lambleg. Or atleast: Hammelkeule. Again, im not sure xd its a dish too Edit: a quick google search also spat out a german city, Hameln!
Feels like there may be more to this. There's a newspaper clipping talking about the shows creator, and implying he's Amanda's father. There's various things in that article that can be applied to some of the toys around the attic, like strawberry banana pancakes with the oven or entering the father's name when asked what the rooster is called. Or maybe I'm reading too far into it.
I love how Wooly sometimes helps Amanda when she’s confused, I fin it sweet on how they act like siblings sometimes. (Lets not talk about how she killed him tho)
This game doesn't disappoint! Ever since the first release, I had a feeling this game was gonna be good! Some of the scares in this full release actually caught me off guard and unnerved me, like that jumpscare during the "Oh no! Accidents!" tape or that ending with the Meat man. The effort put into this game is awesome and I hope this game gets the recognition it deserves. Also, that sequence with Amanda and Wooly screaming at the oven being on fire caught me off guard I couldn't help but laugh. 😂
Manly's channel is basically this seemingly endless conglomerate of 1-3h long podcasts and they're all FKN AMAZING!! I absolutely love your videos. Your soothing voice really makes each horror game you bring on here very enjoyable ^^
