*I like the old style Echo Dot because it's small also **Newest.Technology**, gives out decent sound and doesn't take up a lot of shelf space if you want to put it on beam in the workshop or shed.*

It depends, echo wins in bass, while Google wins in middle and treble range, and Google has a much larger sound dinamic. So in the end it all depends to what genre you prefer to listen.

Yes it does depend, I prefer more bass personally. If you truly want amazing sound, the google home max takes the cake.

I have both google and amazon products in my home mostly google items but the echo sounds so much better than the new nest audio the nest audio sounds hollow like it playing in a tunnel

Hello, I was planning to get the Echo 4th Gen. I have the Echo Dot 4th Gen which gets slightly harsher (sharp treble) at more than 70-75% volume & I need to lower the treble. Wanted to know if the full sized Echo 4th Gen also has the harsh treble issue at higher volume or is it completely balanced sound without the need to tweak the EQ. I want a cleaner audio experience with a perfect balance of all three frequencies & not just one like for e.g the bass overlapping the other two. It would also be helpful if you can shed some light on Google Nest Audio (I've seen the comparison video) in regards to the balanced sound signature.

Echo seems to be a better sounding speaker vs the Nest Audio. It's very clean for the most part, it's not perfect but well worth the $100 price tag. Much cleaner sound compared to the Echo Dot as well. If you want the best sounding smart speaker, it's going to be the Google Home Max which retails for $300 though (granted it does typically go on sale and black Friday is right around the corner)

The Echo 4th Gen doesn't have a harsh sound like the Echo Dot 4th Gen, it's still smooth at higher volumes but Home Max takes the cake for the best sounding speaker. Here's my scale (these scores don't reflect price obviously) If Home Max had a sound of a 10 out of 10 Echo 4th Gen would be a 7 out of 10 Nest Audio would be a 6 out of 10 Nest Mini would be a 2.5 out of 10 Echo Dot 4th Gen would be a 2 out of 10 If we had to take price in mind, maybe the Echo 4th Gen and the Home Max would be a tie, as in speaker quality for price value. In summary, Echo 4th Gen is well worth the money and I'm like wow, this thing is amazing for $100, I think the same for the Home Max, it's amazing for a $300 smart speaker.

I will also say that I prefer Google Assistant over Alexa just an FYI, they're both very good but I feel like Google Assistant is a little bit better because it does a better job of understanding human language. Meaning I don't have to talk like a robot to Google Assistant, it understands human speech better. To clarify, Alexa also understands human speech as well but I feel like Google does a slightly better job.

I have amazon prime which gives me access to free music without ads but it's not every song. If you want everything they have a subscription for that.

Had a very annoying issue with my echo...after about 3 hours of playing, the Bluetooth will stop playing sound (BT connection remains, and music/podcast remain playing on device) Only work around are to play from your phone, or reboot the echo(doesn't fix the underlying issue, just makes the sound work) . Have been on with Amazon tech support, but no solution yet.

They're both good, the Echo 4th gen sounds better. But I feel like Google Assistant is a little better. If you're in the Amazon ecosystem, then you can't go wrong with the Echo 4th gen.

Nest a bit muffled and Echo sounds clear. But not too big differences. I still prefer Echo though.

Echo 4th Gen sounds better but I like Google Assistant better than Alexa. Do you have RU-vid Music? or Amazon Music? It really depends what you're going for. They're both good in their respective ways.

Not from what I know, you have to use the switch from the back. You can say "stop listening" if it turns on.

he he, I have watched a couple of sound comparisons of this 2 and its always different "clear winner"; so I think guy you should stop using the "clear winner", dont want to sound harsh but this review was a bit biased towards amazon

Makes sense, I personally think the echo sounds better. If you watch my other videos, I think the nest mini sounds better than the echo dot. And the Google Home Max makes everything else sound like a small speaker. Google Home Max is my favorite sounding speaker.

Use EQs...my Audio Nest is great sounding and pairs with my Nest Doorbell Camera etc. My Echo 4th Gen arrives tomorrow a Black Friday deal, £49.99 with free Philips smart bulb. I also have the Google Nest Home Hub Max arriving tomorrow too...overkill? Yes!
