My favorite thing about Ryu's install super in UMvC 3 is that the strategy guide straight up says it's worse than his base one and that you shouldn't use it.
You my friend, are a great parent and is giving your son the right games to play for him to be a individual of class. Just don't shot him the next game in the series unless it's just for the gameplay, trust me don't show him no story mode
@@fami5893 To an extent you're right. But Shuma is a character that can easily pull it off if you get hit regardless of where. Many need the corner and assists to get it done. Not Shuma since Shuma easily carries to the corner and kinda breaks the rules of the combo system.
Hulk's damage is way better (~1,350,000 without using any meter at all), he has a lot more top competition representation, and he's also in B tier. Shuma is ass. His assist hitbox is great but easy to punish. His combos are great but his neutral sucks.
Just got this game on a steam sale for 7 bucks and wow am I blown away by how awesome it is, I really hope it gets rollback someday cause I would love to play it online.
Thank you, good video. Another idea would be a team tier list with alot of breakdown for your reasonings including historical results, most played teams and theory. Also how untapped is this game where so many people have won with teams only they play.
Also what do you think were some of the major factors that kept Mvc2 players from transitioning successfully into this game while you did. Schmidt, Chunk, Soo, Sanford, 360 etc...... Seems like it was you and Neo ( Although Neo was more of a newer mvc2 guy) And I remember Clock and Ricky did ok for a bit and even less so, Yipes. Do you think the player transition was pretty much comparable to what happened with Mvc1 players going into Mvc2?
Between Abegen’s team of Tron/She-Hulk/Thor, iHeartJustice’s team of Phoenix.W/Cap/Strange, and Scamby’s dedicated Resident Evil team that smoked full teams with his Chris anchor, I’m a firm believer that if you believe in your team/character, you raise them a full tier or two.

I know Hsien-Ko sucks, but she's my favorite Darkstalkers character and I'm still glad she's here. Also Spencer is, in my opinoin, the most fun fighting game character ever made.
I would love to see some sort of character overview or video going over every character's broken stuff. I'm not really into this game but it sounds and looks interesting from what I've seen. good video!
not mad about my boy Taskys placement, but I don't think hes "basic". He's a crazy good anchor with level 3 x factor, hella mix ups, and his assists are great combo extenders.
Loved the video and this list made a lot more sense to me. Just missed more explanation on why storm deserves to be higher. I definitely believe she's underrated since most of the cast can't deal with her in a one to one match
I always thought that "Trash tier" meant that the characters in it were not viable for competitive play. Is that actually the case? Either way, pleasantly surprised to see this tier list update, nice to see UMvC3 make CEO this year.
This is why I main Vergil, Mirage Blades just Royal Guard's hyper combo's and the versatility he has in the game is what I like. Edit: LOTS OF COMBO'S TOO.
I'm still new to this game and have a lot to learn. Looking to get good. My favorite team consists of Deadpool, Dante, and Zero. I think they are very cool, very fun and they go great together due to being red, and having swords and guns. Also Deadpool and Dante are hilarious and a match made in heaven. Rate my team. Is it good? Does it stand a chance?
Viewtiful Joe in B breaks my heart. He's a solid A character. His IAD Voomerangs lets him get in without an assist and you can layer an assist to mitigate push blocks and the nature of Air Dashing lets you do that too. Plus he's one of the few characters with a grounded overhead thats impossible to react to. Easy conversion on stray hits with Red Hot Kicks. His damage is kinda ass without a team built around him but he's so good an being a universally strong character.
Iron Man to this day still super underrated. Dapvip and Joker made him work folks. He's not good, but my god is he still underrated. Godlike assist set, has flight and ability to stall, has amazing meter build and solid damage output, has an infinite any direction, incredible air normals, repulsor blast is godlike for space control, great dhc synergy because its a beam so that works with anyone.
I'm liked shared and subscribed, all that stuff, I'm suggesting you do more tier lists even if its memes. I'm supporting the boi, he is trying to get this videos out, I'm learning fighting games and enjoying them.
my favorite play of you playing in tournaments is the one you made to filipinochamp with that shoryuuken from akuma and then x factor and defeat his two different characters and then win the 2014 tournament you are incredible man and this is my favorite moment

I remember picking Doctor Doom and Zero simply cause I love Mega Man X and the Fantastic 4 comics. I didn't even know they were top tier until now actually.
I play most vs games and infinite is honestly way more fun. It just has almost no scene. The tag mechanic is amazing. Otherwise MVC2 is better to pick up
I put crazy time into this game in it's hayday. It's funny to see the characters I thought were like the best and could be kinda broken are pretty low on your list. I'm no where near being a pro but it's crazy to see some characters ranked so low.
I compete in other genre of games such as TCGs and MOBAs, i can totally understand how lower bracket players feel and understand from that point of view but i've never been a peak player of UMVC3. Being a casual player, this video was great to hear perspective and see characters get tier'd from a marvel player since I would never be able to understand how the META works at the top (like what character straight up dominates and who goes well with him/her, and what comp would be viable to break that team and still dominate the rest etc) or have that kind of knowledge and experience. I really like your tier list feedbacks! Please do more every now and then Justin!
I love Phoenix Wright but if Order in the court didn't remove bad evidence from your hand I might not play as much as I do. One of the best things about the turnabout Pheonix is that people often get caught off guard by his Snitch finger since it's so large compared to Pheonix and they look at your character and not the death zone that is front of you.
UMVC3 should have a pokemon/smogon-esque tier list... OU = Top 3 is definitely Zero, Morrigan, Vergil. I'd put Doom as 4th because he's just on like every competitive team out there, and fits well with just about everyone. 5th/6th is a tie between Phoenix and Magneto, then 7th Nova. BL would start with = 8th Wolverine/Spencer/Strider, then the list goes on imo the top 10: 1) Zero 2) Morrigan 3) Vergil 4) Doom 5) Magneto 6) Phoenix 7) Nova 8) Wolverine 9) Spencer 10) Strider
@@paulakroy2635 I think it's also the fact he's so over-used that everyone has a lot of experience battling him and predicting + avoiding his mixups and pressure in general. I still believe he is top 3 though regardless. If anything ease of use makes him even more qualified to be top 3
I would disagree with Zero being above Morrigan. Morrigan's damage and mobility is just completely insane, along with the length of her astral super. I also feel like she's safer than Zero. In terms of ability, Zero is probably better though
I missed out on umvc3 since i was so into sf4 at the time. With me getting a gaming pc and parsec im now playing it with friends..man what a game. So far im running firebrand,doom and Morrigan...good to know there already pretty high on the tier list.
I love this game so much I'm about to buy it again for ps4. Since I started playing TS on a stick I realized how much I miss these games. Channels like Justin's,JM and Max got me back into playing again although I'm over the hill I'm having a blast relearning stick play.
@@experimento6262 well I don't have any other choice. It's not that bad. I run into bad connections sometimes it's part of life I just don't rematch and move on.
Tho if you do lmk 😂 i need people who actually play fighting games and are decent at them. Nobody on my list plays fighting games and the people that i had that played are all trash and not wanting to get better.
@@experimento6262 The net code is one of the reasons I got tired of playing UMVC3 I still got love for the game but I would rather wait until it comes out on PS5. I'm ready to play a new fighting game anyway and not a game that's been out for years already.
Just wondering, since I played marvel many years ago But I remember everyone thinking Virgil was top 3 or top 2. How come he dropped down a bit whilst Phoenix is viewed more highly now?
Vergil is more easy to open up than any of the top tier characters and as for Phoenix ppl are getting better and making teams which are highly suited for Phoenix Example :- Zero Doctor Doom Phoenix
I mean he’s not wrong. I don’t think he meant that Wesker is weak, low tier, etc. I think he meant that Wesker is the Ryu of this game in that you can learn a lot about how this game works by playing him. He can teach you teleport/left/right mix ups, tick throw/command grabs, level 3 X factor comebacks, movement/plink/wave dashing, fairly basic but painful combos, and more things like that that you’ll need to be familiar with to get far in this game.

I think one problem of Justin Wong's tier list videos is he uses the worst templates. I mean look at this one, these icons are badly cropped and you can't see some character's full bodies! Other than that, his opinions are good.
one curious fact about the entire MvC series is that Capcom wasn't really able to get Ryu right even once in this series.... lol he's alright at best in XvS, MvS and MvC1, utter garbage in MvC2 and pretty bad in MvC3
"You shouldn't be opened up by hsien-ko" I main a hsien-ko/Deadpool/hulk team and I somehow do this on a regular basis. Sure, I only play with my friends, but some of them are better at the game then me and I still somehow do this. I have a feeling she's slightly slept on when it comes to her potential. But I feel she's bottom c tier at best, though.
She was my 2nd pick when I still played. DHC into her yellow form then tag out and she interrupts anything with her armor. Also something inherently cool about characters who can throw out 2 supers one after the other.
If they are better than you they shouldn't be getting opened up by her. I play her and her slow speed is her worst weakness. She has the tools but for her to get in is almost impossible because of how slow she is.
@@experimento6262 from what I remember, people could win with dampiere from soul caliber 5, who people agreed is the worst character in the game, just from the fact that people never fight against him usually, so some people don't know how to deal with him. Maybe something like that?
We still play this game all the time. Shoutouts to Justin Wong for the quality content. I can look at this stuff all day. Can you do like a Tatsunoku vs Capcom tier list or maybe any other games like Rival schools, power stone, etc?
Idk about fighterz, but it's a pretty easy game to play, especially if you played 2 and earlier. Now there's 4 buttons to press instead of 6, light medium heavy and launcher. The matches get wild and if you and a friend are learning at the same time, it gets real fun and competitive.
Its a bit simpler than fighters in the neutral but combo wise they're relatively even and the fundamentals around anchors and good assists and whatnot are still important. Most characters also have super long and stretched out combos for the more experienced players but also short and fast ones for people trying to pick it up.
Hsien ko's gimmick is ridiculous. Though. DHC into her 'yellow' form and she has unbreakable armor. She eats every move. And will interrupt anything. Also her little gong deflects any and all projectiles so throw one then hop and throw another and characters like Chris get stopped in their tracks.
If only UMVC3 had a balance patch update (like league of legends, or Tekken 7 at least), it would have been a game that would last decades (there are so many characters with potential, i.e. Jill, Joe etc) instead of those 7 S tier characters
If umvc3 had a balance patch they would have ruined the game. If you look at a lot of the low tiers it’s mostly characters being gutted from vanilla to umvc3 ( tron, she-hulk, storm)
speaking of best friends dr doom and ammy they work so well also helps dr doom to get in and setups of course there some issue it slow startup assist and tron frank west sentinel my favorite team hulk tron too x23 captain america akuma or vergil in it helps x23 mixs up cap and vergil with her lvl 3 super .
This game is far from my favorite in the series, but I really appreciated it after having 10 years of MvC2 (which I'm not a big fan of) being the last entry, it was certainly an improvement and hey, they even brought back the old Wolverine back to his glory days, unlike a certain other entry, *ahemMarvelvsCapcomInfiniteahem* ! sorry I got the coughs.
I don't play this game, but would be interested in knowing matchups/ frames and what's plus for some characters. Just figuring out the data would be interesting cuz just watching casually (I play mk) I'm just like WTF is going on lol
