I did. Craig was dumb and didn’t check his work before uploading. Now it is out there, performing pretty well and driving me crazy. I want to fix it, but the moment I do, the videos performance will be affected. Thanks for mentioning it.
Unrelated. Could you please consider reviewing the Echo Auto. I tried a first Gen device years ago with disasterous results. Is the 2nd generation functional or should we still avoid them?
I have considered it and I may check it out again. I never felt the original one caught on because it wasn’t great and all the wires. I do need to revisit the new one.
The network section of control center is useful to me. Finally I can access this quickly and easily, without having to dig into settings. I use more than one network at home for various devices for my family and guests as well. I can quickly see what network the tv is using, it sometimes changes without my knowledge, and switch networks when trouble arises.
I would go under the settings and look for the remote settings. Make sure that the volume is set to auto. If it is, then check to see if you need to program the remote with your TV.
Oh I absolutely did NOT see them brining FaceTime with other devices to appletv ... sure didn’t However, I will absolutely use it ... just sad it took them what? 10 years to figure out it was useful since Microsoft implemented the feature on Xbox and I loved it for the short time I used an Xbox as what I now use the appletv for. It was great ... glad to see they caught up in this particular case I would also like to see them implement more alert ... or cloning abilities to iPhone ... similar to what they have with watch ... I mean ... why can’t I see texts on screen if I want? Just seems silly it isn’t there. Also, why can’t it be more like a phone in general, if I’m watching the morning news while getting ready ... and I ask Siri how long it will take to get to work ... why can’t it tell me ... or give me a map ... I dunno ... just think there is much more they could tap into with appletv ... I get it isn’t a computer and it shouldn’t be ... but it can be a smart device that has more capability than it currently supports ... people spend 100’s of $$$’s on google screens and others ... when apple could simply make everybody’s tv do the same thing ... only much bigger and more convenient Just my .02¢
That is hilarious. I do have too many. It was not bad early on. The problem was the new colors. I got them for the channel. That added four. Then the two new ones came out adding 2 more. I don’t want Apple to bring out anymore HomePods. I don’t have anywhere else to put them. Thanks for watching.
The greatest thing about the TVOS17.... My appletv 4k 2022 now turns on by itself when whenever it wants. I also love how program content regardless of which... stops abruptly! Music, video, etc. Oh, well, I've always wanted a $150 paper weight.
Continue to love the content, Craig - great work. The combination or reality (“I probably won’t use this much”) with pure fanboy another times aligns well with what I think of most Apple and SmartHome products.
Thank you. I made the mistake of dragging a clip on top of my video and not checking the video before posting. Now the video is performing well. The moment I fix it, views will slow down big time. I am so frustrated seeing it there.
It does not work on 1st generation Apple 4k. It is only working now on the 2nd gen and above. It is disappointing that the 1st gen does not work. If you have a 2nd gen you should be good to go with Eduardo’s help.
What hdmi cable do you use? Do you recommend one? Getting a Apple TV but can’t figure out if I should a cheap one from Amazon of do I have to get expensive one
Get an HDMI 2.1 cable. Just get something with good reviews. You want 2.1 because it can do up to 8k or 4k up to 120fps. Newer Apple TV 4Ks support higher frame rates.
@@CraigsTechTalkSo true! I got an Oehlbach HDMI cable her ein Germany at 32,99€ which is a lot. But the Apple TV 4K 2022 switched directly to Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on the Home Screen. I activated the Match Frane Rate etc. option under the settings, so the Apple TV box switches itself to the appropriate frame rate according to the source I am watching. Awesome! My older Apple TV 4K 2020 (the big one with cooling fan) was not as good in handling HDR content. It is in the bedroom now, though, and totally ok for that!
just thought I would let you know, the feature to find your remote control using your phone, and the vibration pattern is useful for those of us who are blind, who cannot see the image on the phone to indicate location of the remote control. Something to keep in mind perhaps when you were doing your iOS software reviews and updates. keep in mind people who use voiceover as their primary method of accessing the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV. 0:06
Now I have a couple of 2017 4ks in use, 2 - 2021 4ks and the most recent 2 - 2022 4ks. My 2017 ones are still working great for my daughters room and our bedroom.
My remote on my iPhone 15 doesn’t work and I’m on iOS 17.03 but the remote on my iPad works and it’s on iOS 16.6.1 and I tried to pair it multiple times but it doesn’t work….. any suggestions????!!!and now I’ve reset the Apple TV and even the iPad remote doesn’t work……
I would double check that the Apple TV is updated. Then go under settings, remotes and devices. Then remote app and devices. You should see what is paired and should be able to pair your device there.
Just switched from Amazon Cubes to APPLE TV 4K I have existing Echo Studio Home Theater 2 Studio Speakers and Sub. How do I connect to Apple TV? it seams to only allow me to connect 1 studio at a time
Hello, unfortunately you will not be able to connect them in the same way as your Fire TV cube. Amazon uses the echos and Apple connects to their HomePods. If you connect with Bluetooth it would be to just one speaker and you would most likely get out of sync sound with the video.
In tvOS 16 you could change AirPod settings, such as noise cancellation, transparency, head tracking, etc. Did they take this feature away in tvOS 17? Also, it would have been nice if the remote made a sound to make it easier to find. And FaceTime is not supported on the 2017 Apple TV model. Great video. 👍
When you hold down the control centre button, look for an airpods icon next to your clock in the control centre, navigate to it using the directional button on your remote and, you'll be able to fully access your airpods setting :>
Thank you very much. I will have to take a look at the noise cancellation settings. I had not played with those in 16. Good point on the remote. It would be nice to ping in. It is disappointing that you can’t use FaceTime with the older models. But it does seem that the 2nd gen was the real big change for the Apple TVs.
Thank you Paul. You are welcome. There has been much support early on in the UK. Some of the best people I have met through the channel are out of the UK. I hope you are doing well Paul.
The only thing I don't like is I can't seem to skip ahead as easily in ten second increments like I could with the glass remote. I can click to skip, but then I have to click play again with the new remote. Do you know a way around this?@@CraigsTechTalk
The wifi controls in the control center are for people who travel with their Apple TVs. It just makes it easier to join a new network when you are in a new place.
I can see how it would help while traveling. I like to travel with an Apple TV. I would have liked to see something like a caption button or put another feature there. Thanks for watching and mentioning the traveling.
Very cool. I completely understand that. It wasn’t very useful for most people. You just go there to turn off things. Now you have a new menu to play with. Thanks for watching.
Yes. Siri turns off Apple TV, TV itself and Yamaha AV receiver, and when I ask to switch Apple TV (via the remote control Siri button) the iPhone Siri is asking me which Apple TV I want to be switched on. I have two. So I click in the Siri pop up message on my iPhone on Apple TV Living Room, and all devices are switched on: Apple TV 4K, the TV itself, and the Yamaha AV receiver. Please check your set up. Siri does work, flawlessly.
Has anyone noticed that that you can change the microphone audio modes (isolated mode and wideband mode) when using FaceTime on the Apple TV. You can access it by selecting the continuity setting icon in the control center on the Apple TV.
Craig, IDK why they remove the ability to show the airplay status in other rooms in homekit. I used this a lot to airplay from one room to another. Does anyone know how to do this now in tvOS 17?
I have not tried any, but I saw this article from Forbes. www.forbes.com/advisor/business/software/best-vpn-apple-tv/ I would pick the most recognizable name. There are so many vpns now.
Hello Craig It’s always a pleasure watching your content about Apple TV I just have a small query please When I search ‘ Siri play ‘movie name’ on Netflix’ it never do I mean it never searches movies on Netflix how can I fix it
Hello, Thank you very much. I think the problem is that there is no integration with Netflix like other services. For example Netflix content and RU-vid TV content doesn’t show up in the “Up Next” section. I had not tried calling up Netflix shows, but I am wondering if there is something Netflix isn’t doing to have Siri search.
Whenever I connect my AirPods to my Apple TV, the TV would go to sleep after awhile. I already deactivated any sleep mode on both my TV and Apple TV. So how do I eliminate this problem?
Tried FaceTime once during a beta test. Didn't work. Too much hazzle for me. I use my MacBook or iPhone more for FaceTime. Those are the devices you have immediately available.
Craig, it doesn't make that muchof a difference, but something weird happens around the 3:17 mark. I only mention it just in case it's something haywire with your flow going forward. Thanks for the excellent vid, as always. I hope you're well, my man.
Thank you very much Pete. I appreciate you mentioning it. I hope you are doing well. When I saw your comment I had to go find it. It was a dumb mistake. I didn’t double check my final edit and had dropped part of a clip on top of my timeline. But it never fails that when I make these mistakes the video always does well. Last time I made a dumb title mistake, the video took off. But the moment I corrected the title, the views stopped. I have to wait a bit and go into the RU-vid editor and try to remove that part.
Still can’t get surround sound or have HomePod and tv speakers going together. And to be able to adjust each levels.. Would love to have the HomePod speaker behind us for hearing dialogue and tv speakers for effect sounds.
It literally takes a second and a half. If that can be eliminated entirely on a technical level, Apple most likely would implement that. For the time being I can live with that short delay, easily.
They already need a patch update. For some reason it no longer is able to control my eArc Atmos sound bar for volume control. Turning on and off works but not the volume or mute on the remote.
You can set up your Apple TV 4K, TV itself and your soundbar in two ways: 1) Apple TV via HDMI to the soundbar directly, and the TV connected to the soundbar or 2) the soundbar is connected to the eARC HDMI port of your TV, and the Apple TV 4K is connected to one of the other HDMI ports on your TV (if available, use an HDMI 2.1 port and a high end HDMI cable. I use instead of a soundbar a Yamaha AV receiver, and I can control on/off, volume +/- and mute with either remote control. The TV remote control also works for channel +/- zapping. I use the German Telekom Magenta TV app so I watch TV via internet. The Apple Remote does not support channel +/- zapping - only swipes - which can be annoying.
Perhaps it might be a good idea, to ask your question in such a way, that it can be understood. For me: I am lost at what you’re talking about! Sorry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Very cool. That is great that you will be able to put it to use. We often travel with an Apple TV. Now it has the new added value of FaceTime. Thanks for sharing and watching.
Yes you can pair other Bluetooth headphones. You might be able to do a Bluetooth speaker like headphones. But for pairing and having default sound speakers, they need to be HomePods.
That is funny. Apparently not hard enough make mistakes like not checking my video before posting. It is driving me crazy seeing it there. But if I change it now, the views will slow down a lot. Thanks for watching.
You have to go under settings - Airplay and HomeKit. Make sure that allow access is turned on for your home. Also make sure your Apple TV is put into a room with a name. Then the icon should be there.
@@CraigsTechTalk Thanks but didn’t work. Access allowed for “everyone “ and “tv room” selected as it was before the update. Home hub shows “connected “.
