Yep... Still have the Bridge Of Spies LP, and all it's singlea. It's one of the great albums from 87, and one of the great from the 80's. I love every song, but the Bridge Of Spies chorus is special to me, i couldn't help but sing it at top of my lungs every time 😊

I'm so proud of you two. I remember when you first started and you would guess a song as being from maybe the 60's or 70's, and the song was so super 80's, my how times have changed. Look at you now, you know your decades, and you know them right away. It's always hard to know when it's the beginning or the end of the decade (early/late 60's, early/late 70's, early/late 80's, early/late 90's...), but if you're smack dab in the middle of a decade, like this song, 1987, then if you know, you know.

The band name as you pointed out was named after a female Vulcan high ranking diplomat who officiates Spock's mating ritual, but also the song title "Heart and Soul" comes from a line of dialogue where she explains that Vulcan marriage ceremony was the "Vulcan Heart, the Vulcan Soul", i.e. Heart and Soul

I'm jealous! Heart and Soul was a huge hit, but I lived in New York, and outside of that one song, nobody had a clue who the band was. I was given my cassette for free and had no high expectations, but I loved it so much I literally ruined it and had to run out and buy it on vinyl and CD! :)

I'm 50 years old - the first time I heard this song was when Casey Kasem introduced it on American Top 40 in June 1987. I fell in love with it before the end of the first chorus. I'm still blown away that they were a one-hit wonder in the US. My favorite is the power ballad Valentine. Definitely check that one out.

@@conan5885 looking at Discogs, it seemed that Heart & Soul was the only single that charted stateside. Strange that China In Your Hand was a much bigger hit in the UK reaching No 1 in the charts. Maybe it wasn't released there. Or Valentine or I Will Be With You. Sad that so many people don't know so many great tracks.

I was a huge fan of T'pau growing up in the late 80s/early 90s here in the UK. Was in their fan club! Great to see a reaction to this track. One of their best. The layering and production is excellent. Their mainstream success didn't last that long sadly but they left a mark. Still going today too. 😊

just want to add that the layers of vocals are amazing... how during the chorus the 'singer' is singing "don't make me beg for more" you can hear the 'speaker' saying "this time I beg you"...

This song really is a slow build but it's so so good & was a monster hit, both song and video. I love it because she's giving you 3 singing styles in one song and delivering both a beautiful melody and a deep groove! Just love it!

All parts are sung by her. She is married to band member Ron Rogers. They wrote the majority of the bands songs together. I haven't heard this song since it came out when I was a jr. in high school. Thanks for that blast from the past!
