Paul and Tiff get behind the wheel of two latest generation Aston Martins; the brand new 2018 Aston Martin Vantage and all new Aston Martin DB11 Volante - with a very surprising race track head to head ending with Paul and Tiff on an oval race circuit.
Both of these Aston Martins are now powered by the same AMG derived V8 twin-turbo engine and we see just how different these two cars were to drive.
Which would you take? The sharp-handling Veridian Green Aston Martin Vantage sports car, or the Skyfall Silver drop top DB11 Aston Martin Volante GT cruiser? Oh... and did you know what the "Mum Test" was, according to Dr Andy Palmer? ;)

new DBS for me tickes all the boxes. Vantage looks not up to AM standards inside and I also do not like convertible cars.

it looks good overall but if one was behind me at a light i probably wouldnt know it was an aston martin. astons have a pretty distinct look and the new vantage strays from that a bit

Well the new Vantage has the more Bond DB10 (Spectre) headlights and overal looks Having it in Skyfall Silver means that you almost have a Bondcar of yourself. Hopefully it doesn't come with an Atmosphere button. XD

Have to agree with Tiff, the Vantage looks good. It starts to grow on you after a while. From the side, it kind of has an F-Type design feel to it.

Tiff is a flipping legend, good to see fifth gear back on TV last week also! Out of these 2 cars I think the Vantage would be the best to drive. Can't wait until the make a more hardcore version of it.

Not exactly what I had in mind when I requested you get Tiff something to chuck sideways guys! Get on the blower to Aston Martin Australia & have Tiff chase you in a DB11 around Bathurst in a Vantage! Tiff in an Aston with the inside front wheel off the ground going down through the dipper would be a sight to see! Only a bit over 3 weeks til the mountain roars into life 😎

You've definitely carved out your niche in a sea of automotive content. Partnering with Tiff shoots the credibility off the chart. Quality video. Awesome content. As for which one? Tough choice. Two quite different cars form the same manufacturer, for two different driving styles. I'd have both!! (If only!!)

If you look each section of the car the DB11 look nicer but if you look at the whole package the Vantage look nicer. Honestly I don't like the head and tail lights of the Vantage but when you look at it as a whole package it somehow look nicer then the DB11. As for interior I think Vantage hands down better.

Who moaned about the db9? Or dbs ... the vantage sold quite well I remember moans about the virage being bland I’ve been hoping the db11 would grow on me, just something about it isn’t quite right The old dbs is my dream car, with a manual transmission it’s sex on wheels!

Back from holiday so I can finally watch this vid :p I'm the complete opposite of Tiff, I didn't like the DB11 at first but now I kinda fell in love with it. But the Vantage... Nope, not my style, not an ugly car at all but not as elegant as I'd like an Aston Martin to be. I do love the color tho ;) Great vid!

The LACK of haptic buttons is a real bonus for the Vantage. As a driver's car - indeed ANY car - the focus should always be on the road and not piss-arseing around taking your eyes off the road to find them!

dier2tte yea the new vantage needs some styling tweaks I loved the v12 zagato of the previous generation Wish they had taken those design elements into the new vantage I’m sure after a few years of slight modifications they will make it more beautiful

Love both cars also Aston Martin now but always talking about the engines although only mentioned briefly the fact they are produced by AMG and all the electronics are Mercedes-Benz. Great content as usual. Tiff is very funny, but he's right. The Vantage is the real drivers car and the DB11 is more of a GT cruiser. I am looking forward to driving the Vantage myself.

A bit disappointing after watching 14 minutes and discovering that it was only a roadtest. It is great to see tiff back in new fifth gear and lovecars after these years but what i am really hoping to see is him pulling lap times on a track and doing a serious dynamical assessment of the vehicle beside a great sence of humor. But hey, never mind me. I wouldn´t be writing here if lovecars channel wouldn´t care about our opinions which in itself is very pleasing and unique to us however mean we might be. I think that all comes in good time in case of you two- keep up the good spirits and i keep on waiting for more great videos!

I guess we all enjoyed that intro! So juvenile ignorant automotive corny-joy has it’s place, but it gets old in a hurry. I enjoy watching something a bit more tasteful, with substance and credibility, a show that is both lighthearted and serious, that is cool in a natural focused relaxed style! Please & thank you! P.S. Hey guys don’t you think that street cars are going to need manual transmissions in the future to compete in the fun-department against EV’s after the EV’s takeover all of the overly-cherished performance figures (if they do)?! I plan on buying a couple of EV’s, eventually, but I can’t imagine not having one MT ICE car as well. - North American lifelong manual transmission driver, give me the stick baby!😉

The front nose of the vantage are similar to the vulcan, unlike the traditional shape of aston martin on the db11. With the right headlights it might look even better.

Please get some better interior cameras and don’t use the go pro if your going for that tv looking shots and try to get a mic that you can hear the exhaust. Huge fan been subscribed since 10k and please keep tiff!

TV look on RU-vid budget = GoPro for in car shots! We're growing and adding to our equipment list as much as we can - but 4k GoPros for the in car stuff will be around for a while (unless we get some sponsorship!!). From the side Vantage ,DB11 AND DBS all look even more similar than the last cars. Not normally aspirated, terrible interiors, expensive for performance and quality and design good but nothing like the iconic cars they replace. Big fail = big depreciation, No waiting lists is proof ,unlike the old ones with two year waiting lists when new !!!!!

Somehow the new Vantage front end looks like a catfish to me. That grill is so ugly and spoils the look of what could be a gorgeous car. The old Vantage was stunning to look at and is still my favourite - I'd take one over the new Vantage any day.
