Yeah agree about those vents, at least on this color. On white, arrow grey, daytona grey and black it looks good. Not agree with "looks like a bigger A1", all audi's have the same looks. The sedan looks like a small A4, the A4 looks like a small A6 etc... normal 🙂
New cars are ridiculously expensive... 7.5 GTi or R still does it for me, I'd even look for a low mileage M140i if in the market for fast hatchback. Stupid expensive options on this Audi S3, BS
Speak on it....I'm an Audi fanboy but sheesh I feel this overpriced...better of getting a pre-owned 2017/2018 or 2019 if you lucky model S3 with low mileage...
I loved the review but the car Mehh. The price really hideously expensive. I rather buy a Toyota Supra or my favorite little hatchback out of every single hatchback out there... The Toyota GR Yaris!
@@ciankeulder802 Yes. It's a way more fun car to drive, and for me a hot hatch is about fun not practicality. Or if you want practicality and Fun then the Honda civic type R is the car. But ultimately the Gr Yaris is the hatch for me
Hallow!!!! It is exorbitant for a Hatchback. Jah!! Volkswagen took over the Skoda which is very cheap in the UK with the VW engine and very good looking. If you cannot afford the VW you have an option to buy a Skoda which is very good. I wish VW gives South Africans that option because VW cars are very expensive.
Let alone the fact they are being very cheap lately. For instance, in the previous generation, we could not see the bare body paint of the car on the A, B, and C pillars like we can on that new one.
The only type of person I see buying these cars are posers who aren’t authentic car enthusiasts... and it’s so sad because I remember how my heart used to jump at the thought of getting into a gen 1 S3...wow that car was epic
Woa, woa, no crap currency here, we are being fleeced by the local dealers. As long as we buy , they will increase prices. The latest ripoff is in used cars - lame justification is demand, it is a step up from the so called book values.
@@oomstu Put exchange rate aside, how do they justify double the price compared to markets with similar cars to ours - right handdrive eg Australia and United Kingdom. The government (SARS) does take its share but us poor buyers bear the brunt of greediness of the manufactures and dealerships. This is not just in cars but also all importers of electronic goods are are in the same boat. Now then can you explain why a BMW X3 , Merc C class and Ford Rangers made here in SA still cost double compared to the markets they are exported to. I have travelled extensively globally and worked overseas, I can confirm without a doubt that we locals pay more for everything including foodstuffs.
Another great car review, straight talk without glossing over the hefty price tag. I agree 100% with your comments, still seriously considering buying one though!
I have this on my short list in Australia. Price is $80k (Australian) for a pretty much fully loaded version - only thing not standard is the memory seats and mirrors, colour HUD and LED headlights. Even with Australia’s excessive luxury car tax (designed to protect a local car industry that no longer exists) that still WAY less than R1 million.
@@RRSmurf no I’m just saying it looks cheap probably amongst other things for a small luxury saloon, I have owned both the previous gen S3 and RS3 and if you’re a performance enthusiast you value a nicely branded cover for that price tag.
@@keloduma they should. They charge pretty much a million rand for a golf R. And you open the bonnet and it looks like that. It's terrible. He's 100% right. It's very overpriced.
Not sure if the current year has been a big step up or not, but it looks the same to me. These car guys are delusional from driving all these exotic cars and then being very harsh on cars like this S3. it is levels above the golf R in materials, design and build, and is a great drive with very sharp steering, beautiful brakes and amazing handling around corners with a nice little engine burble too - not amazing like the 5 cylinder RS3 but still quite nice. And it's not even the Glof R competitor - it's the GTI competitor and mops the floor with that in every respect. The RS3 is the full fat balls to the wall version, not this. There is almost nothing bad to say about this car except the cost of options which should all be standard at this price.
The person who can afford this car probably has a Jolion parked in the garage We are not the target audience for this car, although the pricing is ridiculous , If it was my money id rather get a Honda Civic type R and keep the change for fuel or upgrades.
Who's buying these new cars, coz it's not worth it compared to old modules and from an affordable point where is these prices hiking to, would be nice to see how much vw spend making these cars
Its a performance hot hatchback , but at that price, there are other more sensible options that one can go for beyond the thrilling experience of owning a hot hatchback… the Amarok V6, or even some SUV. I wouldn’t spend that much for an Audi S3
Car manufacturers are milking consumers by slapping "performance car" badges on the cars. In my opinion, it should be within the 600k-750k range not the ridiculous price they're selling it for
To be honest, I have a 228kw S3 and does 0-100km's in 4.6 seconds, this is a serious downgrade. The only nice thing is the interior and exterior. The previous generation still stands for me and I won't trade it for the new one. The new one won't be as exiting as the previous generation 228kw
Has this video only been watched in South Africa? Because I bought one of these (I live in England) for £39,000 which is an absolute bargain for the level of performance. I’ve timed 0-60mph several times with a dragy with the worst time being 4.2 and the best 3.9.
I used to think that one day when i finally earn 600k - 700K I'd be able to afford a brand new S3 without a balloon. All one can afford is a new Toyota corrola X or A1. fcnk ridiculous.
Can we be honest, the last generation Golf R/S3/RS3 are peak VW hatchback heaven...these new cars are YAWN, trick headlights or more screens in the cabin won't hide how boring these new cars are...they do look good but they pale in comparison to the last generation of cars...and they're wayyy too expensive for what they are!!!
I can buy many other good low mileage premium luxury sedans that will make more sense for far less money. The exchange rate is just crazy these days. These cars are overrated. Problem is, SA citizens are not afraid of huge debt, especially to purchase depreciating assets such as this.
I think its socially accepted that this Audi sits on the same podium as the Golf R, in SA, people, at least in my community tend or seem to respect or admire Golf R more and more as an ultimate hot- hatchback
Something has to be said about the price of new vehicles in this country!! We're being fleeced! Don't be surprised when you see more Havals on the road cause they seem to get the equation right between quality and pricing. Brand snobbery will cost you a kidney forget the arm and a leg.
Great review. Most other reviewers are praising Audi for sticking to what they know in regards to building a solid performance hatch, and Audi not trying to be something else. The problem is that for R1m nowadays there are not many options in SA that offers similar performance. Personally I would just buy a GR Yaris and save R400k.
@@juliuskona3299 overpriced tiny car? Oh you mean the s3. 200kw, massive turbo, lightweight, fun to drive (have experienced irl) a rally car for the streets, hah. And its a toyota. Dont even get me started on its handling, and it has a manual gbox. Your point is irrelevant bro
@@duzisparkz I'm not denying the fact that he s3 is overpriced. The GR Yaros is also overpriced and they not even selling that well in South Africa. R600k for a tiny GR Yaris no way.
Not an Audi fan but on Autotrader there is an Audi s3 for 898 000 whilst a golf 8 GTI is 899 000, there is just no comparison. Can't really complain about Audi pricing if a fwd GTI is slightly more.
New car thats slower than the older car... for more money... issh... M135i xDrive over this anyday... and non AWD and comfort, Megane RS300 EDC... bottom line is, with the prices of new hot hatches, its a matter of time before they become unfordable to purchase... cars in general I guess... lease agreements or used cars will be rotating the market... Its already happening now, used cars that are specced well with low mileage are selling over book... and people are paying the price due to the prices on newer cars out there... I think currently pre-owned BMW performance cars are pretty worth the money... from all the German performance car options here at the moment... as for used GTI - 100k over book... naaaaaaaah, best all round but price tag is just crazy
Definitely not worth it. I honestly would avoid this generation of A3/S3/Golf/GTI. Too much cost cutting, piano black plastic, and touch capacitive everything inside is a disaster. Very unexciting
Gooday Ciro itits me Mr.Scobbles Iam as you’re know a big fan of you’re movies. Ithing you’re are the best and ithing youcan do even nicer than madwotson. Did you also perhaps thing if talking on about autotrader they’re also sell cars on they wepsite have a look. Idid own three audis Alride A4 2.0T B7 manuel gearsbox the car did break. Ialso had the 2rd B8 S4 in the country itdid break. Idid also halve a A8 4.2 no doubt it didbreak. Hens also if idid halve to drive a Audi again I also wood note phone my friends. Itits nice for a car to halve a big gears knob init. If this s3 was a maneul gearboxes then ithing that knob would be a worst problem how can you change the gears with such a small think? Can I please look at your microwave oven? Thanks Ciro remember youwill halve to get a code to come into the estate so please phone me first ican also ask my enemy to cook a meal.
He superbly audible than most youtube reviews from international channels. I don't have problem. It is boring to listen to a voice over and not hear the actual sound of car's engine.
7:32 What’s this? Are you doing an ad for the audi? Why can’t you properly say bmw and Mercedes? You supposed to be a no fair no favour car journalist?
Do you really only have 1 sound clip of this things exhaust? Whats the point of coming here cause really people are only going to buy this for its 4pot sound.
Can see door paint on inside of car. That's so shit. Bmw never do this. How do audi think they can charge big money and still do budget stuff like that. Plus no new engine. Shit.
Honestly, your videos aren't "Fun". There are some car channels where I watch a lot more videos just as a pass time. In this channel you aren't doing enough to convince me to come back more often than I do. I came to watch this one because it's the S3. So it was more about the car than the channel. It should be more about the channel to get those views.
@@CiroDeSiena hi Ciro, I'm sure you're busy, being someone who's got a lot on his plate, just popping in to remind you about the song, when you are good though I will wait. Thanks again.
I drive a Audi S3 228kw. I dont think I'll ever upgrade (downgrade) to this. RS3 is the way to go. With just under 300kw and 3.8 seconds 0 to 100. Apparently its the fastest hot hatch in the world. Beating the Mercedes-Benz A45s. But price should be around R1.5 million next year.
Fantastic car. My preferred one over the 8R purely because of the premium factor, but horribly expensive. I'll gladly wait for an 18-24 months old, gladly.
I'm 100% with you on that one. I think they stripped away all of the premium feel in the 8R to make up for the profits they lost through the scandal. They even removed all badges on the engine covers of the VW/Audi group to try to cut production costs while maintaining the price for the customer. It's sad.
@@kripstoe just like the Audi, but it’s cheaper and has an equally solid build quality as the Audi, with a better badge for street cred 😂. I can tell you know that even the Golf R will be just as “mandane” as the Audi. Another option would be the Mercedes-AMG A35 (sedan) its much more stylish, and its more exciting than the S3. Buy if you want excitement, just get the M128ti 🔥🔥🔥
@@carcrazyguysa4059 True and I don't think the new golf will be that high in terms of price the starting price for the mk8 golf R is about 820K and I'm not sure how much will it cost fully loaded with all of the spec but u would say the new golf will be above a million or under 1.1 million
I think it is made more for a day to day drive. Like going to work, shopping runs, and maybe road trip hence the extra power for some fun on the road. RS3 is for the more aggressive feel of the A3 line. I would buy it instead of the RS 3. that 213kW is enough for me. The price is a bit crazy though
Sub frame used on 4 cars yet their pricing doesn't justify the spread of their production costs, unless Volkswagen is greedy for higher returns with its shareholders. A3 is on the footsteps of golf...🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️ bye bye
