Further additions to the advanced audio routing are now available in the new Rodecaster Pro 2
Beta that has just been released by @rodemic
There's also been some updates to the UI of the RodeCentral app, giving it more control over the onboard processing as well as of course control over the new audio routing features.

Alec, respect. You have some kind of a workflow that I think we all need to learn: barely was the new beta firmware released, you have managed to (1) download & install it both for the RCP2 and for Røde Central (2) understand it (3) test it and (4) record a demonstration of it, in such a quality, well-built-up, easy-to-follow and comprehensive video! Absolutely stunning. 👍 Standing ovation. For me it will take another two weeks to produce it. 😅

Alec, thanks for this great video. I never thought of bringing audio from the computer into the rcp 2 via the stereo pair the way you described it. Very good one. Let me ask you: you mentioned that you use the headphones out to bring the mix minus back into the computer. How are you doing that? My MacBook Pro Mi only has one audio jack.. Thanks in advance!

In the RødeCaster settings under Menu > Outputs > Routing, you can set a custom mix for each of the outputs including each of the headphones... so you could bring audio IN from your computer using the stereo pair as described in the video and then take ¼" out of one of the headphones back to the computer, but set a custom mix for that headphone channel to exclude the stereo pair, thus creating mix minus, in effect. To do this with a MacBook with a single socket you'd need to get a converter to convert the combined Mic/headphone jack on the MacBook to individual headphones (out) and Mic (In)..... something like this: amzn.to/3AstLVf It's a hack, but it'd work!! :-)

Great video! I've had the RCP2 for a few months and was having issues routing audio with Zoom/Chat for my live streams. I really like the idea of using mix minus with the Headphone outputs. This new update should help solve my issue. Thank you! Cheers!

Quick question about to purchase one of these. I'm assuming firmware won't be updated out of the box. If it's a few versions behind the newest can I skip to the newest or do I need to download and install each separate to obtain all new features? Thankyou!

hi its a bug?. I discovered that if the physical faders have the listen function activated, it stops working on the virtual channels. If I turn off the listening function on physical channels, it works again on virtual channels. I hope they can fix that bug. since the physicists can be heard all if they are active. except virtual ones.

I noticed you had your MV7 input as a SM7B on the Rodecaster. You would recommend this as opposed to selecting “dynamic mic” ?

Yes the MV7 and SM7B are not identical, but they are close and so using the SM7B preset as a starting point makes sense to me... all it is doing is adjusting some of the advanced presents for us. I do then go in an adjust those myself to tweak it further.

I am still dealing with some confusion with the RCP2, I don't know what it is I'm not understanding if I'm honest. I was using the BEACN Mix Create to handle sub mixes and it made things so simple by using virtual audio cables to assign the different nobs/faders to individual sources and the routing table was clear with what went where. Example: I could set my browser source to nob 3 and choose whether or not to send it through mic, and I could control the volume for myself as well as stream or friends. What I'm asking is how can I get something like with the RCP2? I would like my game to be on USB 1 and Discord/Game Bar on USB1 Chat. Would I go into sound control panel and set Playback so that RCP2 Main Stereo is default device and RCP2 Chat is default comms device, and for Recording do the same? Or set one of those as the default for both? I feel like I'm overcomplicating things and am missing the simplest thing, any help from anyone is much appreciated! Currently using Beta Firmware 1.0.9

Thank Allan! Indeed the Rodecaster would work with the Wavelink software... that video is on my list of videos to make too! Basically, you'd have the Wavelink software going into one of the channels on the RCP and it would then almost act like an extension of the mixer. I currently use the 3 USB channels for Ecamm Live, Zoom and Discord (all Mix Minus). I then have the rest of my system audio routing into the RCP via a stereo pair of inputs at the back (out from the headphone jack on the computer). I'll be using Wavelink to control all of that System audio.... as I say, though... video coming soon!

I have a problem and not one video anywhere has spoken about it. I have my mixer going into my PC, My bluetooth phone music is going onto my mixer, I can hear it. Its on my mixer faders. But i cannot get it on any of my channels on OBS, I have tried everything! Any help would be nice!

I just received the RodeCaster Pro 2- I also have a AKAI MPC Live, and it has audio inputs and it has a usb connection for the computer as well. Im trying to figure out if it's better to try and run my speakers to the RoadCaster or setup a separate mixer and run the speakers there and then just run an audio cable back to the Roadcaster? Im confused now - Please help

I'm still unable to remove my mic that is going to output(headphones) 1. I have my desktop speakers plugged into 1 and do not want my mic going out as it causes feedback. I selected output 1 and removed the mic and it still routes out of my headphones.

With this firmware update there is indeed a way to turn off mic monitoring... you'd go into the audio routing settings I mentioned and then select your headphones 1... then just toggle off the mic 1 input for that channel..... this will stop the mic monitoring in headphones 1 😊

No the beta does not damage your device as such, however the very nature of Betas is that they are there for testing, so their may still be issues in the firmware that need to be ironed out. However you can find instructions on the beta download page on how to revert to a non beta version. This would reverse any changes that the Beta had made to the firmware.
