This Video is In memory of my dear friend Rita Fox who we lost yesterday to our beloved Father in Heaven. The Danger, Danger B9 robot routine was one of her favorites. I was fortunate enough to have completed it a few weeks ago so she was able to see it. However she had said she wanted to see him mention Will Robinson. Well Rita, Here ya go my dear, along with a few other additions and improvements. Afterwards I also show a new animation I'd been working on and demo new Time, Date, Temperature scripts thanks to David B. Thanks David!

Magnificent! WOW! Animated arms... and the wonderful sound effect of the whirring and clicking. Just amazing! Thanks, and I hope you show us an update soon.
@DavidSchulpius
@DavidSchulpius 3 года назад
Hi Stuart. Thanks for the codos! The arms took about 2 years of R&D and building. I has about 5 failed attempts. I'd currently doing some prototyping on a different rail drive system to move the arms out of the torso. The cable system I now have is too clunky and big. Stay tuned!

@@DavidSchulpius Thanks for replying, David! Or did you have the robot do it? I’ve seen lots of B-9’s, being one of the millions who’ve loved him as long as we remember, but I don’t know if I’ve seen another with motorized arms, or one that emits that simple, perfect sound effect. Are there others? I’m almost certain that I haven’t seen one with both. The sound effect has impressed me all of my life as a detail that someone on the show had a right to feel proud of. It convincing suggests complex mechanics, it’s loud enough to be heard but quiet enough to be unobtrusive, and it’s unique. I’ve always considered it to be as indispensably a part of the robot as the bubble, and found it odd that it’s never mentioned by fans (or so rarely that I’ve never found it mentioned), and hearing yours make the iconic sound gives it an impression of being the real deal! I’m in a rush, but do you recall seeing or hearing about the robot’s commercial for a lawnmower that aired during the series’s original run? More soon. Thanks!

Dave - this is wonderful. You are amazing to be able to do this. I wish I had a full-size B9 at my house. He was my favorite member of the LIS cast. I guess I will have to be happy with my battery operated B9 that speaks and lights up. Xoxoxo

I don't think I ever saw one fully articulated. Now you just need to get it to roll around. Won't be too many more years before AI systems will allow you to mount a small, indiscrete camera and he will be nearly fully autonomous.

You would have put Bob May out of a job with this thing. Bob’s happy computer chips and servo technology wasn’t anywhere near today’s or the studio might have gone with a completely animated robot.

Too bad you can’t incorporate Alexa or Siri to have the robot voice….
@DavidSchulpius
@DavidSchulpius 4 месяца назад
Thanks for the kind words. Yes, it would be nice to have the function of Alexa and still have the robot's voice answer. There are some builders trying to use AI to do something like this. They're getting close.

The main elbow motor is a DC windshield wiper type motor that is driven by a worm gear. It's going as fast as it can.

His chest/mouth light is too bright... need to match up some grey scale form the show to your B-9...
@DavidSchulpius
@DavidSchulpius 6 лет назад
Thanks for your insight and comments. I respect your opinion. However things like color and brightness are subjective to the person viewing. Personally I took great care to match the color scheme of this robot to the TV robot of the 2nd and 3rd season as close as possible. Perhaps your remembering the 1st season robot where the show ws shoot in black and white? There are other builders that have tried to copy that grayscale memory. Not for me personally. As far as the neon, the camera makes it look brighter then it is in real life. However I love the "in your face" true color and flash that a real neon will give. I may have it turned up a little to bright but it's not an issue with me or anyone that seen him in person. Again, thanks for your comments and watching my video. ;-)
