“I’m never going to be the fastest runner, I’m never going to be the greatest guitar player. Just trying to enjoy things.” Spot on 👍, I’m using that one!
Just got one last weekend in lite blue with black, yellow and shiny silver hilites. Fantastic shoe. Soft when walking, bouncy when running. A little unstable at times but no shoe is perfect. Love the looks so much, looks like LV or prada of running shoes lolz. Got it on a whim since its on sale for only $43. No regrets.
Fit felt very similar to the RC V1 first, but after a few miles of running and picking up the pace it felt much roomier like the TC. I think the midfoot is quite roomy and allows some slide. The length or width didn't feel too big and I tend to like a real snug fit. I tried a half size down as well and seems to fit okay still. I'd use that half size down for a race. It can easily replace the TC in TTS while being lighter, bouncier, faster, more stable, more comfortable, better geometry, more cushioned, and only $25 more (and I think the TC is good but this is better). I'd take that half size down for racing though. I'm not a fan of the Alphafly and like the Adios Pro but prefer this. I love the Vaporfly Next%, Metaspeed Sky, RC v1, Puma Deviate Elite, and Endorphin Pro. I think this would be the safest option for a marathon or longer race though as your form breaks down and pace slows.
I found the wet grip was ok. Not as good as the v1 obviously but no worse than average. I've used them on grass and wet stoney tracks too with no grip issues. I actually prefer them to the v1 as they are way more stable.
@@EDDBUD I've already said this but I ran 600km in rebel v1 and they are still great. Put 350km in rebel v2 and it's even better. Best trainer I think I've ever had. Been doing my runs in rebel v2 anywhere from 2:47km to over 5:00km. But some of my flat workouts I've been using RC elite v1, especially in the rain. Those two shoes together work well.
Between the 1970’s glamour rock looks and the fact I live in the UK and not in Dubai or some other dry country I will be staying away. Thanks for an honest review
Hi Edd - thanks for the book shout out!! Made my day! I suppose this shoe was always going to be subject to a comparison with the first iteration. Some said the V1 made them pronate? The dynaride was dropped as the Japanese manufacturer couldn’t deliver against the shoes launch date was what I heard from NB You’ve got me from Brooks GTS to some stunning shoes of late! I ran my best 10k ever second run in theses shoes. Thank you!
One of my biggest hopes this year 🙈 rebel v2 is my favourite shoe of the year this far. Guess I’ll go with the next % or adios pro 2 after all. P.s. Durant had one of the all time great nba Play-off performances 👌
Possibly someone has covered this already, but read somewhere that dyna ride process on the outsole would’ve hiked the cost and delayed the release date.
The weather looked very American werewolf in London 😱😃….running Liberace another classic Edd 🤩 Shame about the shoes, I’m gonna pass, and wait for mu Boston 10’s to arrive next week 🙌
Great review as always Edd! I don't think you're being harsh at all - grip is vital and you would expect it for a shoe costing 200+ earth credits and its not much fun going over on your harris while also looking like the #runningliberace 🤪 I think I am going to save my EC for the UK general release of the AAAP2 tomorrow at 9am. Assuming I can blag a pair in time that is.
Thanks Ed. I've got version 1 for my marathon next week but I do dislike slippery shoes. Auckland weather is often with sun showers which makes the path slippery at times in the wrong shoe. Something I like about my asics and adidas. Good in the wet.
I'm pretty sure I heard from somewhere (Running Warehouse maybe?) that the outsole isn't Dynaride as it would take more time for them to get the production line for the RC Elite v2 running. Logistical problems, basically. It's unfortunate as the RC Elite v1 had the best outsole I've ever tried on in a shoe. Way better than the Saucony Endorphin series.
Great review. Looking forward to getting my hands on it, but mine is currently backordered. Hoping these purple beauties can take me to a BQ this fall.
Good review. Almost sounds as though it's worth waiting for the v1 to drop below £200, which surely it will have to at some point. Btw, Reverse tardis - genius 😂
I tried the rc elite 2 in an all white colour way earlier today at the new balance store. So very tempted by it. But I picked up a limited edition colour way rebel v2 instead.
@@EDDBUD He's not the only one, looks like that plate in the heel is a bit of a problem, cant use discount codes so I haven't bothered, lets see if things change on full release of the range tomorrow.
@@EDDBUD Yeap... I've seen Mikes review... But as you say, he is just a man expressing his own opinion! I am a Boston fan for years now and I would trust your judgment, because I find my likings close to yours. Anyway no pressure... but please... Give it a go!
Received my pair today in white/red not tried them out yet. To consider, after lot's of dry weather the rain make the surface greasy might be worth a try after more 🌧.
Tough sophomore album, eh? I think producing shoes that are an amalgamation of everything else leaves the door open to missteps on what is or isn’t fit to change. ✌🏽💙🏃🏽♂️
Great review! Love the color way. Got the Revel 2 but found it too “mushy” but super light. Does this have more rigidity to it? For some reason NB run small for me… I wear a 46 in Nike. Thanks for the review! 👌🏻👏🏻😀
Thirty years ago I ran in NBs for the 4e widths, but all of them with blown rubber traction surfaces would have zero traction on wet concrete, like running on ice!
Great video. I haven’t tried new balance before and not sure where to go on sizing! I generally have size 11 in Nike and 11.5 in Hoka. Any tips on now these compare? Granted I should probably go and try some on!
wet grip very dependent on type of surface. in bristol weve got a grat cycle path that goes to bath, great for running but in the wet the old concrete it's made of can be very slippy even in a grippy shoe like the floatride 3. i think the composition of the concrete make a huge difference.
Yeah there’s one short segment of concrete sidewalk under a tunnel near my place that’s super slippery when wet, every other part of the same sidewalk is completely fine.
Love the look of this shoe but then I do like my Lebron James Soldier 12 'Flyease 'Authur' which quite out there. I also get some ribbing playing Rugby in NFL Cleats like Nike Jordan Retro 11's but I view wearing footwear as something that's fun as well as perform as you'd like. Sounds like the fit will cause me issues though so a hard pass for me.
I ordered the white/red color. I find the VF a little too narrow/unstable. I’m hoping these will be more stable for me. I want them for long run/tempo workouts.
I feel like shoe innovation is in a bit of rut with an excess of the next latest and greatest shoes being released. We all like to think the next shoe will propel us to faster times however I think it is about finding the right drop and stack and feel (firm or more cushioned) that works for you best rather than an actual shoe. Consumers are made to feel they will miss out however believe they leave feeling underwhelmed in most cases. I have banned myself from buying any new shoes this year ha ha. Enjoy what I have for the moment
I love the aesthetics of this one, just not sure I could justify the £200+ on it, especially not when I can pick up (through a discount I get from work) the Adios Pro 2's for about £162..
I am really curious as to why manufacturers opt to "overflow" their foam choices past the midsole sides (this shoe and Ultraboost 21). I was thinking stability, but there are lighter materials to use I think. It just seems to bloat the shoe and sacrifices are made in other areas (like outsole).
It’s one category that seems to not work all that well for me! A daily shoe with some extended cushion is my bag. The overly cushioned non plated shoes just see me sinking into the foam. Maybe look at the triumph or symmetros?
Here's hoping v3 will be a comeback for NB. Have you managed to get a pair of Asics Metaspeed Sky/Edge? Really hoping to hear your thoughts on that shoe.
New Balance need a comeback? They are possibly outselling any other manufacturer so far this year with plenty of people owning the 1080v10 or v11 or the Rebel v2 and now lots starting to order the RC Elite v2. Can't say that I've ever seen NB on more feet than I am seeing right now.
Difficult second album for me. Hahaha edd :) dont you Think the slippery thing has something to do with the pollen from trees and bushes making it more slippery here in the summer, when a Quick summer shower hits the Streets
This is disappointing. Looks like other than a bit more stability, they destroyed a nearly perfect shoe. Really bad news. I run on my V1 every so often as races are really not a thing here just yet, and I am glad they still have some life on them. Particularly those leaches (if that is what you called them if memory serves me) on the outsole still are alive and kicking!
I didn't quite see if you showed it. Mine have different sole color yours? They run quite nice it's funny you also crave weetabix after a run hahaha same
@@EDDBUD yeah well it was my early father's day present from my sons .. they saying dad your fat run more . Either way they saved up for like a year to buy me this tears to my eyes so I will run in them like I've never ran before
So the V1 takes on water…and the V2 slips on water… i think this one is a Nay from me, for now at least (unless I find a promo code) are you skipping the Metaspeed Sky/Edge?
Picked up a pair of these and sent them back within 2 hours of them being received. Didn’t feel anywhere near as good on my feet as a VFNext%, not my cup of tea at all.
I was thinking the other day why do we care about outsoles on racing shoes. Never something I pay much attention to. I mean who falls over on a road run in the wet. Twice. Oh wait then... A curious shoe and yet again New Balance have decided, as with the RC Elite 1, not to offer the UK 13.5 here in the UK and does not seem worth at least £350 for a US import then and being wider is not exactly helpful with my narrow feet. All the other comments have seen so far have been mostly around nice colour. Am still unclear as it to its actual race potential althoguh you seemed OK there. Why though would you pay more than a NEXT%2 for this am unclear. Maybe if you like the ultra soft FuelCell which am fast going off in the Rebel 2 as am finding it now more of a struggle to get going than nice feeling under feeling. I kind of assume the plate at least stabilises things but the lower stack RC Elite 1 was already my softest carbon racer and I thought too soft for me for racing.
RC Elite v2 versus Atreyu The Artist.......very, very, very similar midsole/CF plate.....but Atreyu outsole and value are 3/3, thus makes the NB RC Elite v2 absolutely unworthy. RC Elite OG outsole was, possibly, one of greatest outsoles......NB, WTAF would you change the industry best???
Though that lateral flare on the OG midsole made them unusable even for many neutral runners like me, by causing a bizarre pronation that I don’t have in any other shoes. A potential disaster for a marathon shoe. I hope v3 of these brings back the great outsole for those who love this shoe.
