My dad passed away in January. When I was cleaning out his closet I found three pairs of NB shoes just like that, new, older, and oldest. I laughed and cried at the same time.
I just caught my dad unironically watching this video on RU-vid from the TV. I thought I heard your voice from my bedroom, so I ran in the living room and sure enough. Lmao
I watched this video last night and found it absolutely hysterical due to how true it is. What made it even more hysterical, is that I was on my way to work this morning and I was driving through a suburban neighborhood and I saw a couple (50's) taking a stroll down the street and I thought to myself "I guarantee this guy is wearing either NB's or Monarchs". As I passed them, lo and behold, he was wearing an old pair of Monarchs lmfao. It gave me a good laugh 😂
Man. This reminds me of my Dad so much. He wears a size 16 and NB (according to him) are the only shoes that fit him. He's always hiking-up his white socks and rockin' the NB shoes in the summer time. And yes, he makes those EXACT same sounds when putting them on!!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My Dad did lawn care in the rattiest pair of tennis shoes to ever exist. Old black pair of shoes with the soles flopping and the laces frayed. Wore his work boots to do it once Mom threw away his old pair cause his socks were getting grass stains.
@@brz757 What do you mean? The Nike's are 64.99 and the New Balance's are 59.99? Where are you buying these for 180 bucks, because you're getting majorly ripped off my dude.
New Balance shoes usually lift you up a little so that you're a little "taller" when you wear them--not by much, though. I'm a 5'6" guy, so I have to appreciate things like that.
I wore these freshmen year in Public High School, all the kids with $90 Air Force Ones made fun of me. It took me a while to realize that having your dad as a role model when your 14 isn't cool.
@@nonyobussiness3440 Even online there is limited selection of shoes in wide widths. You're pretty much stuck with dad shoes. None of the "cool" shoes are made in wide widths.
Nike air monarchs are comfortable. I wear them, the all black ones. I'm not a middle aged dad. But my brother always makes fun of me saying I got old guy shoes.
I have both. They are both comfortable. But between the two, the Nikes are more comfortable. But, the New Balance will last longer. I bought 2 Nike Air Monarchs in less than a year due to the sole separating from the shoe. Had to glue the sole back to the Nike shoe.
I wish these weren't known as dad shoes. They're both so fucking comfortable and the only shoes that have any real arch. Growing up I owned a few pairs of each of those...and then I turned 14-15 and realized girls made fun of them. I gave them up to get laid, in my mid 20's now and if I had a happy little accident with my girlfriend all I can think of is that I'd get to wear cheap comfortable shoes again
Rogan’s Shoes in Wisconsin has a complete aisle dedicated to both of these styles. NB on the one side, and Nike on the other. Classic white with blue accents in a plethora of sizing. Official shoe in the state of Wisconsin.
I used to bag on these shoes, now it's about all I wear. When you're 45, ya just don't care anymore and wanna be comfy and have them last. Dad shoes for the win. Levi's 501's, pocket tees, hoodies... Khakis and untucked polo shirts on dates. That's about it. Get set in your ways, you'll be happier when you don't give a shit anymore.
I'm 39 and I'm a Dad. And though I'm perhaps too young to be like this, I can relate to the belief that shoes are never truly wide enough. And also the grunting....and I'm not even fat. It's just a thing now with me.
I miss the old kswiss, super comfy, my next shoe is gonna be those ones you can slide on and the heel just automatically gets out of the freaking way, then it pops up on its own like magic, beautiful beer drinking shoes, tie them once and your done
