Brilliant method. Thank you for arranging the English words in the same order as Korean first, before arranging them in proper English sentence structure.

별 말씀을요. (= "you're welcome.") ...즐겁게 공부하시길 바래요. (= "I hope you enjoy your study.")
@JesseHarshbarger
@JesseHarshbarger 10 лет назад
Conversational Korean I'm guessing that "별 말씀을요" is a phrasal cousin to "뭘 그정도 가지고요, 별 것도 아닌대요, and 뭘 이정도야", correct? In that case, 별 말씀을요 means more closely "no problem" ~ would you please help me understand all four and the subtle differences in their nuance? Thank you! (Maybe could be your next video?)
@ConversationalKorean
@ConversationalKorean 10 лет назад
Jesse Harshbarger You are correct, Jesse. The only difference i see between those four is "뭘 이정도야" is informal... I mean those four are very similar if not the same. Talking about the subtle differences, 별 말씀을요 sounds like "you don't have to say thank you about it." and the others are kinda like "what i did is not a big deal." ...But the difference is just a literal difference.
@JesseHarshbarger
@JesseHarshbarger 10 лет назад
Conversational Korean 좋아요! Very nice! I like, "별 말씀을요." (even though it's difficult to pronounce, at first.) Thank you. 고마워요. How to respond to "감사" is a common confusion for English speakers. I often hear Koreans respond with, "아니에요." or "천만에요." and then when I've used either of those, Koreans tell me, "That's not right." OTL

Annyeong oppa! ^^ I'm a kpop fan and I got interested in the korean language through kpop and korean dramas. I've been watching your videos and taking notes for a couple of days. How do you suggest I practice what I've learned?
@ConversationalKorean
@ConversationalKorean 10 лет назад
It would be best if you can practice that with native speakers around you. Other than that, well... try modify a single word this way and that way whenever you see a Korean sentence, or how about making short scripts with what you've learned and be an actress on your own as practicing? :)

I'm sorry that i'm having trouble with the pronunciation of "did"... wanna ask for "did", is the "suh" in "hae suh" written as "서" instead of "어"? or is it because of the word in front that ends with the "ss" consonant" that it sounds like the word behind start with the "s" sound?
@ConversationalKorean
@ConversationalKorean 10 лет назад
"했어" sounds the same as "해써"... As you said, the "ss" sound carries on to the next syllable since "ㅇ" has no sound there.
