NEW Beats Pill: Beats Finally Brought it Back!

Launched in 2012 before Beats was acquired by Apple, the original Beats Pill shook up the portable Bluetooth speaker category with fun colors and well-regard sound quality. The speaker got an upgrade in 2015 with the launch of the Pill+ under Apple's ownership, but over time it appeared to become an afterthought for Beats compared to headphones and earphones, and the Pill+ was eventually discontinued in early 2022.
After several months of teasing, Beats is officially announcing the return of the Beats Pill today with a host of upgrades and a lower price point of $149.99. The new Pill features a completely redesigned speaker system consisting of a single tweeter and a single racetrack woofer, a removable lanyard, USB-C and Bluetooth connectivity, 24 hours of battery life, and IP67 water and sweat resistance.

AppleInsider did a comparison with the HomePod mini. It was determined that the new Beats Pill have a much better sound profile.

@@ijuscant charge 5 no comparison… Charge 5’s Bass is crazy for the size of it. Flip 6 also has Great Bass for the size of it. Flip 6 is more portable than charge 5. That being said i went ahead and purchased a beats pill.

If you connect it to a computer (say MacBook) via USB-C, will it also transmit USB audio (lossless ideally) and let you control things like volume via the keyboard controls?

How is the sound vs the Soundcore Motion X600? Just wondering if it's worth the buy or skip, it is an Apple product and works seamless with Apple but just curious if it sounds better than my current speaker.

@@toxinoz1410 I actually bought the new Beats Pill. Without EQ settings on the x600, the Beats Pill actually is better. The only thing that saves the X600 is the custom EQ settings. The Beats is also louder again without the Soundcore custom EQ Settings coming into play. The Beats also integrates into macOS with it's own option the in System Settings and it's own little b icon in the menu bar. After a few hours of going back and forth, my X600 got put away in favor of the Beats Pill.

I use the new tribit x sound plus 2, and I think it easily beats the beats. It is cheaper at 70 dollars, with superb sound quality of 30watts. Plus it gives cover protection for the usb c and the 3.5mm aux port, Unlike the beats here has an open usb c port and No aux port.. I also have the jbl charge 3 and that is also great but I prefer the tribit with new features at a lower cost and greater louder cleaner sound.

After listening to mine for a few days, I realized that there is just no high, mid, or low separation. Ive done demos for multiple people compared to the Bose Soundlink Flex and everyone says the Flex blows it away. The clarity is just not there and its soundstage is not wide at all on the Pill. I bought it to compare to the Bose....Im returning it. The music quality to me just doesnt sound natural. The bass on the Soundlink Flex is MUCH better too.

@@deykno87 Because Bluetooth is shit. You don't need to have a screen to enjoy the advantages of AirPlay. Since AirPlay uses Wi-Fi, it can transmit higher bit rates and uncompressed audio data, resulting in better sound quality. It also has less delay in audio transmission compared to Bluetooth. As AirPlay is based on Wi-Fi, it can use the entire range of a Wi-Fi network, which often provides greater coverage than Bluetooth. With AirPlay 2, multiple speakers can be synchronized to play music in different rooms at the same time. Integration into the Apple ecosystem enables simple control via Apple devices and Siri.

@@deykno87agreed.. AirPlay doesn’t even offer true Lossless audio so I wouldn’t care given the environment I’d most likely use this. Hopefully whenever an AirPlay 3 protocol is announced it will address that issue.

I held off on buying a party speaker after they teased this. Cause I was also hopping for a XL. I miss mine and I wish I never returned it after they were getting recalled

Good video. This item is not for me because the color options are bland. Also, I prefer speakers that provide stereo sound without purchasing two speakers. The price is fair and usb-c is huge

Exactly…they have been pushing these mono speakers lately. Don’t fall for that. Using a Tribit and it has stereo full range speakers with a center woofer.

$149.99? I don’t think so. For that price, you can get 2 Tribit SoundPlus2 which are rated at 30 watts each.
