My Envoy is the king of my shaving cabinet. It even overrules my Rockwell Model T, Baxter of California, Bevel, and Gillette Heritage. It's a feel and shave that cannot be matched. This coming from a fella with coarse hair that has to shave every other day.

Great video Matt. I’ve used the 3ONE6 a bit and found irritation (my fault) but I’m only 6 months in so working on my technique. I’ve found success with Douglas’ hardware recently. Looking forward to getting back to my 3ONE6 some day. I liked the feel of that razor for sure.

Hi Matt! Thank you for these types of videos. I bought the EJ 3ONE6 and the Rex Envoy from you, both are great. I prefer the Envoy over the 3ONE6 in general due to its efficiency. In my opinion, the biggest difference is found ATG. The Rex seems to have a good amount of blade rigidity. No so with the 3ONE6, the blade flexes and I get nicks. Just my experience there. Musgo Real...yes please. I want to try that product!

I love the design of the Envoy the most (of that 3 at least ;-) ) Some guy made me an offer to the Rex Ambassador. Not THAT good offer but you know the RAID 😜. So i bought the Ambassador and i love it! Great razor. Smooth and really efficient. One of my best razors. And a beauty for sure :-)

I had it and didn’t like it. Found the short handle and TTO. Felt as though it could loosen up easily. More expensive, but the Rex is my fav razor these days. I will say, the 87R is a good looking razor.

Don't have an Envoy (but do have an Ambassador), don't have an 87 (but have 4 other Parker butterflies, 22R, 95R, 96R, 99R) but do have a 3ONE6 (two of them in fact, one the all stainless shown in this video, the other the blue Aluminium handled version). The 3ONE6 is good razor (it's actually metal injection moulded, though I guess that is a kind of casting), generally get nice close shaves with it. The Ambassador is a very nice looking razor, very well made, knurling is superb, but I just haven't ever been able to get an easy, close shave with it for unknown reasons (oh well, it happens). I do like the Parker butterflies, but they are a little on the mild side for me - I tend to have to go over areas enough to cause irritation afterwards.

I have EDWIN JAGGER 316 with a silver colored aluminium handle, I get nice shave with it always but I have to be careful with it while shaving as this is deceptively aggressive, I don't have Envoy and 87r, but for me the most comfortable and the most used razor is one and the only MERKUR 37C 👍👍👍

All three are on my "wish list" - part of my RAD. So nice to see them reviewed. People tend to talk about razors in terms of whether they are more or less aggressive than the 34C (I guess because so many people own one) - how would these compare? I haven't had my 34C all that long, but with the blades I've tried so far it's easily the mildest of the razors I own - and unless I hit on a better blade pairing, too mild for my taste. So if these are milder than the 34C I might reconsider their place on my wish list.

I wouldn't call either a "beginner" safety razor since I still use both of them, the latter of which is my go-to, but here they are: Weishi 9306 - This is rebranded and sold in over a dozen countries including the United States. Here in America, Van Der Hagen and Microtouch One are the labels to find it under. I prefer the Van Der Hagen relabel as it offers a wider range of finishes and the quality seems a bit better than what is offered by Microtouch. Merkur 34c HD - This razor is popular with both new and long time wet shavers, and for good reason. On a scale of one to nine, I rank it at four, so on the milder end of the medium range. Both of these tools are great daily shavers and should be included in any rotation.

I bought a 34C recently; so far, using an Astra SP and a Perma Sharp, I am unimpressed. Just so-so shaves. I'll try another few blades, but it's definitely the mildest of the five razors I have, and too mild for my taste - though I really want to like it. Any blade suggestions? (I'll probably try Feather, Kai and Nacet next.)

Razors till 30-40 Dollar range have threading issues. Maybe due to top cap screw and handle being of different metals or alloys. Friction causes wear and tear and it goes loose.

Question: Do you *really* need an after-shave, or is face moisturizer just as beneficial? The reason I ask is because I have used cheap after-shaves that sting the shit out of your face (still have them because I never use them haha), slightly better than cheap ones found at stores that discount items (specifically "Winners" here in Canada) and I stopped using them as I found a good quality face moisturizer to be just as good. As I come up to running out of my good stuff and potentially using my not-so-good after-shave, I thought I'd shoot the question to the man himself! :)

An alum block will remove any sting before the aftershave. Then you can use any alcohol-based aftershave you want.

Depends. Buy once cry once is a policy for a lot of beginners in a hobby. The alternative is spending $50-$75 2,3 or 4 times to figure out what you like.

I thought the Parker TTO were all chrome plated brass? Are you sure about the center bar?

Yes. If it was stamped it would look just like a gillette and it does not.

@@RazorEmporium makes me want to cut mine up to see as in an interview with Deepak Grover and Howie Woda. they state "Our butterfly razors are all brass and our 3-piece razors have brass handles with a zinc alloy head." And a member of a certain forum has x-rayed 3 different razors. The Fatip and TTO Parker came up brass (handle, knob, silo door and headside)

I am not doubting brass components. But there's a difference in manufacturing technique, not just material. You can cast brass, stamp brass, cnc mill/lathe brass, or possibly even metal inject it. Each one has pros and cons. Gillette did stamped brass for the most part, and it is superior to cast brass (parker I believe)
