Much like "BRT," the City of Fresno is now redefining the meaning of "protected bike lane." Everyone go look at the new "protected" lane on Barstow we were promised for years: it's just a completely normal painted lane without any protection at all-not even bollards. The bulk of the money just turned out to go towards restriping the asphalt for cars The city pretends to be funding alternative transit for state grant reasons but the caveat to all their projects is that they must never inconvenience drivers in any way. The reason the lane in this video is lined with orange traffic cones rather than permanent bollards is so they can be removed after the news segment airs when a home owner complains
Okay so you're heading south on palm and you want to make a right at McKinley. Do you turn from the main lane or do you get into the "bike lane" which is now the size of one full lane and a turning lane. But the turning lane no longer exists and you have cars turning from both the main lane and now the bike lane trying to make a right. What do you do?? The only sign posted says "yield to bicyclists" 🙄 can there be some clarification please?? It gives me so much anxiety and now I travel through the neighborhoods just to avoid it..
Okay, and now they have put up those permanent green cones, but still, today I watched a car which had enough space easily go behind the green cones and make a right, while an SUV which could not fit behind the cones make a right from the middle lane. Still no clarification.
I have a very hard time seeing that green on road anyone else have this issue? Honestly nothing like artificially creating traffic jams all because a very few wnat to ride their toys on the road.
Not to burst your bubble but cars are creating traffic jams, not pedestrians or bicyclists. By the way, if you're blind and you don't see the street markings, then please stop driving so nobody gets killed by your blind ass.
