I think after watching a lot of these new ba bat reps that people are just not taking enough firepower to balance things out. Its doesnt have to be a lot more, but deffo more. Few eradicator squads running about or a lancer/vindi here and there. I feel you need to balance it a bit more than you used to

People are playing as they played the dataslate, but CodexBA nerfs every key damage dealing unit (removed the Priest+VVets entirely), and this is regardless of how they are eventually pointed. So yes, firepower is needed to make up the damage.... the problem is that BA players dont want to play Repulsor+Eradicator combos. They want to be running at people and hitting them with erect nipples and sex mas... I mean "death" masks.

The problem is they are using codex points and everything is horribly overcosted, especially Sanguinary Guard. San Guard started the edition at a stupid 45pts per model and the codex was probably written about that point, so buffed version reflects that, but they are nowhere near 50pts a model in power. Bladeguard are 30ppm and not used, Terminators are 37ppm and not really used, so San Guard at 50 is stupid for 3W marine models. They need to be probably less than 40 to be properly competitive, they are also the main threat now in the book in melee because the DC got nerfed down so hard. Dante at 130 in the book is overcosted, he is 120 live points and overcosted there, he should be 110-115, Sanguinor is honestly too much at 140 as well, he should be more 130 and I think those DC in current form are too much as well. Add in Inceptors are overcosted (as most marine stuff is and vanilla marines currently suck) as well, that list is probably 250pts too expensive from being competitive IMO and that would allow you more firepower or like more space to get another hard hitting unit in. The whole balance of good competitive melee blood angels is really going to come down to where they put San Guard costs, if they are 35-40ppm the army should be decent, 230-240pts for a squad of 6, you can then probably afford 2 squads with a character and you'd be at about 660 - 680 pts, Codex points you are spending more like 815 for two squads, one with Dante and one with a Captain, that difference is like having a Lancer or Vindicator in your list difference, it makes a big difference. If San guard don't come down then you'll probably see people go back to BAs list that aren't very BAs, like gladius with lots of tanks.

Mines ordered so just waiting for them to arrive. And now just waiting to see what you guys do with them. The sanguinary guard changes I am.not sure about. The rumos said no ba libby dread? Say it ain't so?

50ppm on Sanguinary guard is just way too much, Bladeguard are 30ppm and not commonly used, and San Guard aren't 60% better than Bladeguard, I am not sure they are even 30% better, they need to at least come down to 40ppm, even then that might be on the higher side, maybe 38ppm so like 115 for 3 maybe, then a more jump pack melee based BAs list will work in both detachments as you'll be able to afford two 6 San Guard squads and they'll cost around 320 with a character, not like 400, then gives you more room for either more scoring support units or more fire support.

What changed was that monster units now take a -1 to hit, rather than monster models, which would have allowed zoanthropes to fire without the penalty, since the ability to fire was always connected to monster units
