These seem to be 100% IBM CGA compatible. Only thing they lack is composite output, but artifact colour can still be displayed with Hoglet's RGB2HDMI or similar, as demonstrated here. RGB2HDMI seems to struggle to lock sync a lot. I wonder if this is the same on IBM cards?
They appear to be derived from Book8088.

As the person who wrote The CGA Compatibility Tester, I've used an RGB2HDMI device a lot, and it doesn't have nearly as much trouble syncing to a real IBM CGA cga as you are showing in the video. That said, I do not have my rgb2hdmi unit configured to automatically switch profiles, I always keep it on my CGA profile, so maybe that's one difference. EDIT: I noticed you have auto switch off, so I'm not sure what to tell you.

I re-ran it all a few more times to have a closer look, and I think it may be compounded by my capture device. The "I'm synced" LED on the RGB2HDMI blinks every time the capture blanks out, but it takes the capture card a moment to come back after the RGB2HDMI light goes solid. Probably a combination of factors at play here, and unfortunately I don't have a real-real CGA card to verify its not caused by this clone card, and/or rule out my RGB2HDMI hat being maybe faulty/marginal or something.

Is Book8088 the portable mini computer that popped up around on AliExpress? Or was that something 386? I can see usage of these cards for retro machines and owners wanting to keep the CGA experience alive, even after their original CGA cards have given up the ghost. This is really interesting.

Yep, the little slab one. There's also Hand386 which is a more laptop shaped thing.
