That was a nice slice of the day Carl.. Thanks to you and Sarah for sharing a lovely day. In the sound of the kids at the beginning makes the world seem normal. 🌻🌻🌻🌞
Thanks Priscilla. Yes we are very fortunate to be able to feel relatively normal day to day but haven't forgotten our friends and family still fighting this awful virus. Take care and happy flying.
Thanks. We are always grateful we can have these events knowing so many can not. As kite fliers we make the best of it wishing for better winds but the families love it.
Enjoyed this one very much, I know the wind was frustrating and limited the flying but you really captured the pleasure and innocence of a kiting event. People from all walks of life just having fun at the beach. A good spirit lifter and very happy to see you enjoying your freedom. Something I will never take for granted again
Thanks Jonny. Yes we are very fortunate so far to be able to have these events . This kite day is popular because of the focus on families enjoying the beach. Us kite fliers just add some colour and interest to the sky.
A nice assortment of kites there Carl. Great to see so many people out having fun. I would suppose any other day the wind is blowing pretty steady. Oh well.
Our wind variations have been very unseasonal this year. Our summer winds used to be steady and consistent. The smaller children's kites were the winners on this day which was the object of the public event.
A great capture of the day Carl. Such a shame you didn't have the wind needed. You've had bad luck the last few years. Good to see you on Jims other videos - glad you got some flying in and had a safe journey home.
Thank you David. We made the best of it and of course nice to catch up with other fliers. Hope you are keeping well during the UK winter months. Maybe an early spring ?
Yes we a very fortunate to be able to safely have these events. The kite day has been popular over the years for families to enjoy kites and to see some of the show kites and displays. The wind was a little frustrating but the public don't seem to notice.
Carl, you look recovered and Sarah looks ready to fly some kites. I do hope there was an ice cream in it for you two. Just now I'm looking at my kiwi hatpin. Looking forward to your next post.
Thanks Glenn. We made the best of it but I confess I was still on some medication. They were giving away free ice creams but again we missed out. Too busy flying and filming.
Hi, A little frustrating maybe BUT it looks like a great day on the beach. It also looks like there were plenty of people out enjoying the day too! My new big tril in the "Dunedin" colours has arrived but absolutely no chance to get it up in the air. Truly rubbish weather and we're still under lockdown. The only good thing is that I've now had my first shot of the vaccine! Maybe I'll get out sometime in March!
Hi Bill. Well done on the vaccine. We are community free at this time so they are only vaccinating the most vulnerable and the rest of us later in the year. We all hope the UK will get ahead of this virus. The "Dunedin" coloured Trilobite is so far my favourite. When flying with other same sized kites it is still the last to come down. Don't know why. Hope you soon can fly again.
Hey, Carl, it's been a while. "Frustrating" is putting it mildly. I've had similar experiences, both with my kiting and my model aviation. In fact, the reason I took up kite flying was to cover those days when it's too windy to fly my models. Who says you can't have it both ways? Anyway, a noble effort by all.
Thanks Richard. I like your approach to having a hobby covering both wind conditions. I think I will stick to the kites and just make the best of the good days.
