New Caledonia Riots: Death Toll Reaches Six, France Launches Operation
Violence continues to grip New Caledonia’s capital Noumea and has killed at least six people. The Noumea Mayor Sonia Lagarde has said that New Caledonia is "under siege" as numerous public buildings have been set on fire and "situation far from calm". The French government has launched a "major operation" to control the violence and has sent 600 heavily armed personnel to Noumea. The troops aim to retake the road to the airport from unrest-hit Noumea as flight operations have been suspended in the unrest, leaving around 3,200 people stranded. The unrest gripped the Pacific archipelago of 270,000 people on May 13 after the French government announced plans to allow non-indigenous residents of New Caledonia to vote. The region's indigenous Kanak group, which opposes French rule, and pro-independence groups claim the move would dilute indigenous votes. Kanak community makes up about 40% of New Caledonia's population.

You do realize that many people have been in New Caledonia for generations and also just like the natives, see it as their homeland. You can't just say "France leave", they build the country the infrastucture and everything in it, we speak the same language and share a lot of culture. You want the whole of Europe deport non native people from their countries as well? That's just not how reality works..
