Hi Jose, outside the US the T3i is identified as a 600D. It is the same camera. If you are beginning, make sure you get a good camera card (32mb if you plan to do any video), the kit lens (get the newer 18-135 if you can afford it), and if you can't get the 18-135, you might add a Canon 55-250 lens to go along with the regular kit lens. In your bundle, you will probably also need a carrying case because you will be adding to your equipment as time goes on. Good luck.
kamalilives, the T3 is an excellent starter camera. My philosophy has always been that you should get the best camera your money can buy. If you (or your dad) do not feel that the extra couple hundred dollars is worth it, then go with the T3. But if you are really serious about learning photography with a DSLR, the T3i has more features that are similar to more expensive pro cameras. If I was your dad, I would be considering the time and effort you have put into getting better as a photographer
@NicoleTiana I don't know the answer, but I came across a possible reason at the dpreview forum. Here it is - "if you take a shot then delete it, you are not reformatting the card, and thus you create a "hole" in the storage area. It may be possible to start recording and when the video recording gets to that space that is empty, it will look for more recordable space. If it takes too long to find, the video will stop." This is not a verified reason, but it sounds reasonable.
