How Alfa came up with this car out of nowhere is to me mindblowing. It's just a fantastic car and I hope it puts Alfa back on the map as a major competitor in this "luxury performance" segment.
Because they need to be able to fight with BMW, merc and Audi. Models like the mito and giulietta were okay, but don’t touch this in any way, shape or form
agreed. i dont understand why the owner didnt just get the clear bra while in DC. i mean, if it still needed to be polished once its back in CT, just get it done before the drive and redone after. much better than almost ruining your paint.
T-WRX I wouldn't say that. I agree this tape was far from ideal, but having all the paint there and having to make it resettle sure beats having (a) deep crater(s) where the paint is cut out.
Larry I just wanted to say keep it up and thank you! I've been watching your content since I was fifteen, today I'm nineteen, and I gotta say I wouldn't be nearly as passionate and crazy about detailing as I am today if it wasn't for you! it's become a passion and has surpassed just being a hobby. love your videos man, swear by your products. Also it kills me when you talk about how crazy you are and how everyone thinks your insane because you have a filtration system for your car care hahah I think this is universal to anyone who's passionate about detailing because I was told everyday by my family and my ex that I'm nuts haha 😂 doubt you'll see this but hey, you've taught me and everyone else here for a little over 4 years on this channel and I got to thank you man.
Dude... I really appreciate what you do. This is your specialization but you still share secrets that the typical DIY detalist doesn't normally know. Thank you
the final bit of advice at the end about telling the dealership "do no touch or wash my car" is very useful. I have dealt with paint correction on a brand new car because the dealer ignored the new owners advice and took it through a carwash. It looked like a bear attacked the paint. It was horrible.
you are literally a God in the car world. Without you showing us what to do we would be lost. As my past time i love detailing since i get a new one every year nuts i know but i love cars
I finish watching this video and the very next video that pops up? Doug deMuro reviewing this very same car. Ammo shield in the rear side window and everything. Very cool car indeed.
Awesome video again. Been a fan for over a year now & I realize I always like the videos but never comment. Just want to say thanks for all the knowledge you have brought to me and all the detailing enthusiast out there.
Great video as always Larry. I gave my friend a hand yesterday doing a new car prep on his brand new Mercedes A180 AMG Line and got to use his Rupes Bigfoot 15 and his longneck Rupes Nano for the first time, incredible machines! Thankfully we didn't encounter any weird problems like you did with the tape and the car turned out perfect!
@@robosteez False. Using painters tape is a good idea since there is very little glue on the tape itself. This way it peels off easy and with near zero residue. The hockey tape however, was dumb as fuck.
You said a new car's paint should typically not need a polish - I feel different. Mechanics always leave marks visible for sharp eyes and I have seen that no paint is really that glossy or superb after being painted before it has been polished. A light finishing polish will pop the paint for completely different spheres! Very very few cars seem to be polished before sent out to customer - Even the new 150k Audis come with orange peel paint that has not been finished :( Great episode, probably 2010's best 4-door and interesting stuff about the tape!
Yes, you can get it with a stick but you can't get the manual in the US. No, it doesn't make sense and it's a stupid thing and decisions like that are why people hate FCA.
After watching many of your videos Larry and learning a lot about detailing I've come to the conclusion you look and sound like Linustechtips. Keep up the good work :)
That's absolutely amazing job Larry. The car is so beauty after you did that, salute you as always :) I have plan to detail my car this weekend, this video is my inspiration to do it. Thanks you
I actually quite like that the steering wheel isn't all alcantara- full alcantara steering wheels are difficult to keep clean, especially if you have sweaty hands like I do.
Has already been said in the comments, but holy cow, get that thing transported if worried about rock chips. That is a beautiful sedan. I hope that the owner gets great pleasure out of ownership and that Alfa does well financially with their new offerings.
Martisan They could come back because if the bonnet becomes even hotter than it was during the polish those lines can sink again. They probably came from the heat of the engine in combination with the tape. But you never know, maybe it's fixed.
MORE VIDEOS! lol I love watching detailing videos.. I mean everybody who loves there car should love these videos especially yours. Keep Em Coming Please !
Reminds me of my hockey days. If we waited too long to take the tape off our sticks the it would be a nightmare to remove. The condensation form the ice made it stick extra
I am planning to own my own detailing business one day & I am really having trouble finding the right equipment to buy. Im about to graduate college & of course still have a part time job. I would love to know if you could make a video like of tools such as vacuum, air blower compressors and etc. that i could buy to start off with. Im pretty sure many people would benefit from this video. Thank you again for everything. Keep up the amazing work
clearly the customer has some money for Larry to do the car and travel to get there, why not just wait until after winter to have it done? ironically jacked the paint up by trying to protect it. as always you're great Larry good video
This is funny. I'm fairly new to detailing and I deal with this all the time at the deal ship when the new cars arrive they have the paint impressions on some of them. I worked on a brand new nissan titan all afternoon dealing with this. wish I seen this video earlier lol. Thanks. good stuff
Great video! Larry your production skills have grown to match your detailing skills! I would love to see a couple of motorcycle orientated detailing videos. Please!!!!!
As would I. I suspect that many of Larry's best practices with bucket / sponge management as well as the products used are transferable to cycle detailing.
Very interesting about the tape. When I drove from CA to WA I was temped to tape up the AMG but was worried about what you described. Wasn't sure if it could do anything permanent or not. Good to know in the future!
Very nice video this one was. Your job was amazing. Then you had this beast in hands...gosh how I love this car. This is the fastest sedan car around the Nurburgring track. Faster than the Panamera thats was before the fastest. The sitting position of the Giulia Quadrifoglio is considered to be a perfect sitting position. Italians sure know what they do. I am actually a italian car freak. Love them. Also love american cars. Take care Larry and keep up the great work and videos
I'd never say I know better than you Larry but I would have heated the tape like a decal before removing it especially in the cold. Could have pulled the paint off.
Hi Larry! Sounded like you are talking yourself into buying one, clearly you fell in love, haha, I say go for it :D Have been waiting for your videos as always, appreciate it and thank you very much! Ozzy from Norway
I special ordered a vehicle, and the dealer actually put it on the lot when it game it...it had a deep, although small chip in one door (all the way to primer or metal) and a white paint transfer on another door. Of course my car was a mid-range SUV, in the $45,000 range, not an exotic sports car. I probably should have refused to take delivery...they did a somewhat okay job fixing those problems, but every time I look over it I find defects in the paint...bits of dust that got painted over etc. I am not sure if this is par for the course with average non luxury cars, or if mine just skipped the QC process because it was a special order. One of these days I will take it to a professional detailer to see if these defects can be fixed. Average people probably wouldn't give a crap, because these defects are only noticeable when you look right at them in specific lighting conditions...but quality control is my job, so they drive me crazy when I see them.
You got "reflow" at 95F? Since it gets up to 110F down here in Texas, and the metal of a car hood gets even hotter (especially if it's black), I'm surprised we don't come out after work and see that the entire car has reflowed its paint onto the ground.
I have a Giulietta Quadrifoglio (not Giulia) in the amazing Bianco Lunare colour. Alfa Romeo makes some incredible engines and I love they way they look. However, they do have some peculiar Alfa issues... for example the driver side door handle snapped off one day lol
After seeing Shmee's new cars and the state of their paint, I disagree. It's actually scary how bad the paint can be from factory! Different for all cars of course but I doubt it was perfect on the Giulia
If only I knew Larry's tip about telling the dealer to not touch my car earlier. They left an oily film on the ENTIRE interior (probably armor all or worse) and washed the car horribly
Agree with the "take your new car home without it being washed so you can do it yourself" 100%. The way new cars are just "washed and vacuumed" is just horrific. Dealerships hire the most inexperienced kids that have never washed a car so they can find and pay them $8 an hour to pretty much assult your brand new 45k SUV with wash mitts that have been dropped on the ground. Then those same kids use some type of "body shine" to remove the water streaks with a mircofiber towel that has, more times than not, have been dropped on the floor and picked up and reused. So yes, save yourself the trip back to the dealership to gripe about how bad your car looked when it was delivered and just clean up the car yourself because the older, more experienced detailer (like myself) gets very tired of correcting $8 an hour fast food rejects messing up brand new paint.
