I have always wanted one of these 318ti’s with the proper trailing arm rear suspension. Well I found one and it was for a deal too! In this video we set it up as a basic drift car and shred it! For Merch check out fun-haver.com
I looooove the color with the matching interior. I think it'd be neat to keep the front. It's slightly goofy looking. But that makes it different! Excited to see this build/content!!
what I would suggest is getting M front bumper, well probably whole M pack that specific for compacts, it will look way cooler and is not that hard to do as changing whole front end for basic E46 spec.
Cool car. Even here in Europe you do not see a lot of them anymore. I´d keep the front with headlights as is. Makes it more and more special over time. Smart reasoning with the RHD steering
325ti prices are on the up and have quite a strong following now as people are waking up to what a fine handling chassis they are. Plenty of s54 swaps being done now also. @@Anirossa
No way! I was dreaming about buying this when it was for sale on Vancouver Island (I'm in Vancouver BC). So stoked you grabbed it, looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
i got the max pp rods lmao, they arent bad for the money it costs to get them, when set up right it is fairly grippy in drift, and it just makes the upgrade to bc more noticable
@@christossakelarioutbh I think they are just trying to sell the brand sponsoring them. I’ve sent mine into a ditch and had no failures with the max pp. My endlink snapped before anything else did.
I think the E46 compact is great though. I've thought about swapping a 3 liter into one myself as well. Here where I live in eastern europe I've seen plenty of 325Ti's with the M54B30 swapped in. It's a pretty straightforward swap as it already comes in with the same engine, just the 2.5l version. Thing is, only 2.8L and 3.0L E46's come with the ZF, so if you get a 325Ti it will have the Getrag. The 325Ti axles are also not as beefy as the 330 axles, the diff and the crankshaft is different as well. 325Ti diff is 3,23 ratio, but you can get 3,64 and 3,91 from bmw X3. It's all a big lego, that's why I love these cars.
Compact is the lightest and stiffest of the 46 chassis!!! The front end can be changed, everything is plug n play, except the fenders need to be welded from 2 pieces. They fit plug n play, but the body lines do not match then. ZF is also overrated. It can handle a bit more abuse, but it has shift pin problems (200$ fix), which getrag does not have. Also you can buy 5 or more Getrags for a price of 1 ZF trans.
@@TomSkarsts id rather buy one zf than buy 5 getrags and have to swap them constantly cus they broke. but yeah, theyre not cheap, but definitely worth it in the long run if you intend to give the car more power.
@@Chattsteezy I totally agree. My point was more in a way of budget build and saving money. That being said, getrag can easily handle ~250hp and won't break. Also they cost less than 50$ in eastern europe :D Obviously ZF is a better box, there is no denying that. Especially if the car has more power.
Actually, one in imola red with the msport kit is not that bad, I kinda like them, still looks goofy but at least a bit more aggressive. The interior has the same seats as a regular e46 You could actually get up to a 325ti here which is pretty cool, here some 320d (4 cyl diesel) are still around, with about 150hp and a fuel consumption of around 5l/100km which is amazing
Hell yeah my man, I dig the front. It’s different. If you could find a more aggressive bumper cover for it,or maybe even plastic weld an M3 style bottom half of the bumper. It’s pretty sick as is tho. 🤟🏼
Love the car. There is a guy in Michigan named Charbel Hadded who has a parts yard and buys and sells a lot of bmws. Anyways he’s had a few of those front ends for sale in the past. I’m sure he has parts for a front end swap also. I believe his yard is Called ehe but I’m not sure.
Ripper car! I’ve lusted after one for years, never been the right time when a good one has come up. Almost no headers work with the RHD steering column. Keep it Chelsea, you bloody legend!
Yea compacts are cool man, we get a few here in Australia, if you get stuck looking for RHD stuff just ask Luke (Fink) to send it. I know it’s not premium everything but it’s a pretty decent build straight up, maybe change to a m50 intake (as you know) those m54 intake have gremlins inside.. Plus more air flow ect… I know you know already. Most beema guys are on the same page.. Looks sweet though, love the green 👌
good cars, have been using mine for last 5-6years, m3 rear end will fit but you get diff with bearing problems and only 1 ratio so kinda no point specially with m54b30 power which will be around 230-240 , get remap for ecu so it will unlock few ponies and will make mid range more efficient due to tweeks in vanos.mine stripped is about 1070kg :-) good luck
Nice, little motor and conversion. i'm just about to get stuck in to my e46's... Both 330 Msports (ZHP), 1 x 5-speed and 1 x 6-speed.. No coupe though: :/ Red Saloon and Black Vert. Added a few mods to the 4-door, also carbon bonnet, boot and mirrors... No point modding the black one, other than a splitter maybe. That one's too clean to wreck lol ;)
All suspension mounting points on the TI are the same as all other e46 including m3. the only thing you won't get from the m3 is the V whaped body brace that goes under the gas tank, only m3 has the mount for those. There are plenty of complete m3 swapped tI's over here.
I say keep the front end, put a front lip on it just. Colour and interior is sweet. Good luck with the rear shafts, they're going to grenade themselves eventually.
very much doubt that's putting out 230bhp,210 at most. I have for a long time thought the m54b30 has been slept on,we need someone like yourself to properly turbo it,you'll get more power than m3 for a couple of grand more. There's plenty m54b30 turbo builds out there but very few have been done by people who know what they are doing. Wire the oil pump nut, don't raise the limiter, put lowe cr pistons in or a cr reducing head plate/ gasket and you'll have a ripper that will last. We just need someone to prove that engine is worth the time and effort for entry level drifters pls pls could you do this, would be a great series and will get big views
#pistachio is a great name for it. What a nugget of a little car. It sounds great for having such a big exhaust on it. Some better looking wheels would go a long way on it too.
hell yeah man, as a fellow e46 compact driver here in aus this was so cool to see, i will happily admit that the compact is the ugly duckling in BMWs lineup but imo it gives it its own special charm while i understand why people want to front swap it i think its better with the stock front end, also maybe try get your hands on the Msport Bodykit, it looks a lot better than the base stuff, it'll be impossible to find anything in the US but if you're ever in australia ive got an msport front and rear bumper i could sell you 😂 as for spare parts and stuff, a lot of regular E46 parts fit on the compact with some exceptions like bodypanels, so basic mechanical parts wont be an issue, and when you do need compact specific parts you could probably find a seller in the UK, Europe or here in AUS. Love my E46 compact and i hope yours treats you well
this is awesome , would be cool if you didnt put m3 stuff in it , as an e46 owner its really cool to see how basically the car i own can be driven and stops me from making excuses lol . great stuff chelsea
I have one of these with full M3 / CSL parts and a twin screw supercharged M54B30, no expense spared build. Had the car 15 years and looking to sell soon.
That car is awsome it would look so agressive and sick with the M3 front end with the wider fenders and bubble hood but zhp works also. Awsome buy. Cant wait to see the transformation!!!!!!!!!
Saloon front is the easiest way to convert it ,bonnet ,bumper and head lights bolt straight on ,with the wings/fenders you use the rear section from the compact and front from salon and cut and weld them together, this is what a have done with my front end on my 46 compact
Did you buy this on van isle in BC Canada? There was the same colour one of these for sale about a year ago with a 330 swap. Almost the exact car to the one I almost bought here
in Latvia we call it "Kompots" similar from compact but it means "compote" and they try to put big e46 engines like 3L diesel or petrol engines.. nice to see compact e46 in USA
It looks goofy and it reminds me of the videos from the Nordschleife Touristenfahrten, where they would slide around and either spin or are close to spinning. With the exception that you can hold and control it.
This thing must be from Vancouver island ?! If so then i started it down the path to you and that is fucking AWSOME. What a funky looking front end hahaha
How did you get the car imported here? I have been wanting an E46 compact for a long time but though I would have to wait on 25year law to get it here. Much appreciated for any guidance.
So I heard you say SLR for the angle kit. Why go that route instead of FDF? I’m asking because I’m about to pull the trigger on a real angle kit. I need to find one of these!
Speaking of your school cars… my buddy owns the og e46 sedan from the How To Drift videos. it doesn’t look the same and it’s not stock anymore but it’s hella cool for us to know the fact.
Instead of a sedan front end look up M trim. "M aerodynamic package" or whatever it´s called. Front and rear bumpers and side skirts that are compact specific. The base version looks odd because it´s just an e46 with weird headlights, the M package brings it all together to a proper Bangle car. Design wise I suspect the compact might have been styled with the M look in mind and then turned down for the base model.
I live in Germany and the 316ti 318ti can you get around 400-1000€ it depends on the Condition. So if you need 2 or 3 cars. We can Figure it out if you want.
The e36 ti models are way more attractive. I have a plan of eventually buying one of those or a z3 and slapping an m70 in with forged internals, awd setup, and twin compound turbo setups and boosting it to the moon. I’d never even consider an e46 ti. Definitely a quirky design. Lol
