Today is a day of fixes. The catch can is broken and leaks oil everywhere so this has to go. The rear taillight is broken and is burnt so a replacement is needed. My neighbour gave me a set of roof racks so I will be installing them today too which will carry my swag for camping in the next week or 2.

Thanks for explaining your thought process as you work through this mate. Helps a lot for a guy like me who doesn’t have a clue about why someone has chosen to do something. Most builds just say “today we’re replacing lights…. … TADA! Here’s the lights.” I really appreciate these vids.

You can get a kit to make the larger rear lights work. Most don’t - but it was a bizarre phase these Nissans went through.

Good work on fixing odds and ends. A suggestion for your steps, make up your own rock sliders. It is a job a guy with a welder and angle grinder can manage at home.

Hope the catch can has a built in relief valve, the dearer ones do. If you get a blockage stops over pressuring cranck case and blowing expensive seals.

Awesome job, the old girl is coming along nicely, def recommend taking it to a decent diesel mechanic just to do as you say give it a once over run a code reader etc and at least you will have a better idea where your money is going to be best spent.👍👍💯. Get a diagnosis then fix yourself.

I would have bought a provent catch can. It's dearer but 100% no problems. Hopefully the one you purchased doesn't cause future issues

We’ll see. Unfortunately, the same could be said about everything on the car and I wouldn’t be able to afford trips if I didn’t compromise somewhere. There’s always a better product but I made a decision here to spend less. Like you said, hopefully it holds up

I’m looking forward to trip or update vids in the future, where you run through how parts are holding up. Weird, they didn't cut the hoses on the old catch can so that they were as straight as possible. Not so convinced about those hoops they left. I'm no expert, but I would cut them to the correct length so there is the least resistance.

i noticed your top radiator tank isnt full.... on the ZD's they should be full 100% and the bottom tank in-between the min/full mark..also the brand dayco for the overflow tanks are rubbish they dont seal properly, i suggest going genuine before you crack your head
