Hi there greetings from Australia 🇦🇺 i have ordered a new Jimmy 5 door pick up in weeks will let you know how it works good and bad so stay tuned for me opinion thanks John
I plan on adding additional leafs to the existing pack to help with the load on the back. Will keep the stock wheels and might get new ones in the future. I actually like the stock height and the 33’s look good but will opt for a wider tyre after these get worn out. The fuel economy on these are so good too!
There is a black smith in cairns can add extra leaf,. I was thinking to change to 285 tyre, but need add flair kit, not sure I am manage to do it myself so I stay on standard size new tyre instead.
Thanks Peter. I’ve been trying to do fewer videos to focus a bit more on quality as opposed making a video for the sake of making one. Let me know what you think as time goes on 👍
😂 I was all good until night time… and then had to run the wires into the canopy and found out quickly I needed help. Luckily, Dad was there to save the day 👍
A really great video. Full of useful information and tips. That's a good, solid 12V setup. It's missing good battery monitoring as you say, but I'm looking forward to the solution you come up with. Thanks for your efforts.
Thanks mate. I was a bit nervous about starting this project but I’m happy I gave it a crack. Stay tuned for the battery management. I have some figuring out to do for that 👍 I appreciate the kind words too
It’s a good idea. I figured out I can shut my canopy with the cable in it due to the seals. I won’t run the blanket unless I’m near it as well so I don’t mind leaving everything open anyway 🤙 Good idea. I might run an Anderson to the outside later
Thanks for the great videos! Appreciated. I like that some of them are based on a reasonable amount of ownership and use, as compared to someone borrowing a new car for a day and more or less just run through the items mentioned in the spec. Great work. I have a question about the shark skin seat covers. I've had a dealership telling me to not put covers on leather seats, something about the stitching digging into the leather, or putting the stitching under too much stress and causing damage. Anything you've come across? Have you removed any of your covers and noticed anything to back up this claim? Thanks! :)
I can only speak from my experience with wheeling the same roads as them and 75% of utes being brought back were fords. Have a look through the comment section of this video and my other ford Ranger vs hilux videos. I hope this gives you enough information to make a decision
@NorthOz now looking at the rogue, my only concern with Toyota is the 6 month service internals, what's your thoughts about that...but I have always liked Toyota 👍 😊
@@raysalter6456 my 79 Landcruiser has 6 month intervals as well. I travel 2 hours to get mine done and haven’t had an issue with any service at John Cole Toyota
Had a ranger with 60,000 km on the clock for a week as a fleet car and the gearbox would go into neutral while you were driving at times and then take 5sec or more to find a gear then go again. Handed it back for a hulux.
Love from India 🇮🇳
I have both the 2024 Wildtrak biturbo and Hilux rogue 48volt, the wildtrak is a way nicer drive in every way and is way ahead in tech and stuff however if I had to choose I would always pick the Toyota In six months the Ford has oil leaking from turbos,, driveline vibrations, and deep droning vibration sound from a shitty torque converter.
I can’t fault my Toyotas and a lot of people have similar experiences the fords. They are a lot nicer than the Toyotas with way better tech, but the Toyotas are just so reliable. Thank you for sharing your experiences
Great job. I just recently got a newest rogue, May I ask what is the dynmaic/static load rating for this bar ? Is it capable of support 1 roof top tent, 2 adults and 1 7-year-old boy ?
GUYS : THE REAR WHEEL ON THE DOOR CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT!!!!! You have less view due the rear wheel. And have more distance behind to care when you use the reverse. DO NOT BUY WITH THE WHEEL ON THE REAR DOOR!!!
I bought the PRADO 2023, with the wheel back on the door. NOT GOOD due it cut the entire view behind. I find Easy to have an accident due, one can see less behind through the rear window and also one have a distance over the rear door then you can have a crash in reverse, even using rear camera. My Conclusion : NOT GOOD DUE CAN PRODUCE AN ACCIDENT!!!!
Just bought a new rogue, absolutely love it. I was contemplating getting a mine spec underbody rust protection, 10 year warranty at $995. I’d it worth doing? I live in Brisbane and heat the beaches every couple of months. Or should I do what you did and focus on a good clean afterwards?
Nice work mate! You’ll love it. Its hard to know as I’m not sure what product they’ll use as there are many rust preventions out there (see me videos on rust prevention). If you will be doing a lot of beach of work, some rust prevention is better than nothing. I like to use lanolin based products and spray the chassis and components down after every trip. But if you want a “set and forget” setup, then a professional job might better for you 👍
Below the windscreen pillar there is a removable part of the body for a slimline factory fitted snorkel if you dnt want to drill a hole into your Jimnys body for an aftermarket snorkel. Hope your mom enjoys her jimny. I've just done my honeymoon trip 4000km to Cape Town. Fully packed averaged 14km per litre. Not to bad. And boy did I need a Jimny some places we went. Best 4x4 out there. Have fun doing some mods 👍👍👍
No way! I will correct myself on that in a future video. I knew there had to be an easier way. Do yo find the rear camera a bit lower resolution that you’d expect?
@@NorthOz yeah it is a bit low but try change the settings and you mite find a happy medium. One thing I've been trying to do is upload a personal screensaver through USB stick. I've found lots of videos online but just not coming rite. The suzuki baleno has the same infotainment system and you can do it in that, just not working on the Jimny. But otherwise the information system is a big upgrade from previous 3 door.
The console is a bit annoying but should be easily fixed with an Amazon product solution. I’ll report back with what we go with. Thanks for watching and subscribing. I really appreciate it 👍
I’ve purchased the Hilux GR Sport, 6 months ago, my wife hasn’t got out of it since, she absolutely loves it. I’m buying the GR Rav 4 next week to see is there any way to get my Hilux back 😢
@@Northstar_004 I used to blow the water out after a service but never needed to dry it. After a big rain I used to run a towel under the carpet to avoid rust. But we get heavy rain here so that’s understandable
Curious how this setup would go with a flatback 150 - more specifically the opening glass window on the rear door and what the relative shelf height would be. Also was there a weight rating on it?
I don’t see how it would impact the ability to open the glass door. If anything it would make loading things through the glass door easier with the loading area being elevated. No weight rating as it’s pretty solid. I wouldn’t go putting your dumbbells on there just in case
Hey mate, I just purchased a 2024 48v rogue in stunning silver. Would you be keen to have a look at it and to compare it to your 2023? Always happy to come around and say g’day! Cheers
It depends on the mounting. I did this one a while ago. Anything around 6-12mm is fine as I normally have a few mm plate that I’m screwing in so it won’t poke through
