I'd recommend against a level, most driveways and so forth aren't level, and the bed usually rides higher than the front, so making it level would only make it level to the group at the time, not the actual truck bed.
Exactly, you don't use a level on anything that is not fastened to a solid foundation. You want to stay inline to the tailgate or square up from the bed of the truck. You can use a level to plumb up a mailbox post but not inside of anything that can move, you even leaned on the truck when you were using the level.
Had same case fitted to the passenger side of my UK Ford Ranger MRST. The swing case bracket masked off the cargo bay electrical power socket. But in fairness, it’s a socket that I doubt I would have used in any case. My truck is such a stunner that this one will not be used as a “labourers tool-box on wheels”. No Sir! This Ranger could be seen as a Tuxedo on 33” Running Shoes……
It goes without saying but using a level on something that's not level, as in a sloped driveway on a vehicle that has suspension is just a weird way to do it. The idea is making it square in relation to the deck. Glad it worked out good for you tho
Well done video, seen a few that stumbled and bumbled and you were great. Thanks for pointing out the point of being level. Adding one soon to my 2017 RAM Express Club Cab... and I agree great to have locking features but I also have a power locking tailgate and tri-fold tonneau cover.
Nice work. Audio wasn’t really understandable but everything was pretty much self explanatory. One thing about using a level to make sure the hinges are plumb, the truck bed has to be level in order for that method to work.
Like the install vid I have one for each side haven’t done the install myself yet but the only thing I’m going to do different is put some silicone on the screws to help seal up the holes I’m going to make putting the screws in may not make a difference but can’t hurt either. Great vid
i know the feeling, but might just bite the bullet. They are removable if I really need the strap, and i keep a headlamp in the console and picture one in the top of one of these boxes.
Can you still access the cargo hooks in the corners after it’s installed? I use the rear tie down rings all the time and don’t want to not be able to use them with the boxes installed.
