Thanks for doing this video. Been looking at these cases the last few days and wasn't sure how the would fit with the light and outlet. Video was very helpful in making a decision
@@miguelpacheco4183 and you found the drivers side to more efficient. Like you’re not bothered by the fact you can’t easily access the three cargo tie downs? I’m on the fence with this product but definitely leaning towards driver side to not impede the electrical outlet. (New sierra)
No doubt! The video showed me about the light and outlet I didnt consider. So now I will go inspect my 2022 Colorado and see which side makes more sense. You can buy a unit for either side of the side of the vehicle as others have mentioned.
Thanks! I have a 2019 GMC Canyon with a Snugtop.. I was considering the Decked drawer system which is super cool but with my new shell I wanted to conserve as much space as possible for camping especially with the short bed. Might have to get these. Cheers!
I’ll do a follow up video soon. I wanted to make sure I had enough time with it to give a fair review. COVID limited the amount time I spent using the truck. No issues with the self tapping screws…still as tight as day one and there doesn’t appear to be any corrosion.
What if you have a different backing that won’t let you install, unless I take the bed lin r out that came with the truck, I’m looking for a bed liner to replace the one that I’m taking about installing in the truck, is the an undercover that will fit my truck if I did this???? Please help
I’m sorry, but I’m not affiliated with the company that makes the case. I’m just an average Joe who figured I would provide a video of how I installed the case on my 2020 GMC. Sorry that I couldn’t be more help.
I think I can answer my own question after test driving this truck, I assume the reason is the case would block the arm that helps you climb into the box.
@@sbirdranch The trailer plug is on that side where he installed it. The question was why did he choose to cover it up instead of using a driver side box.
I have 2 of these in my current Nissan rig but they hug the truck bed wall and rest directly over the fender wells. I'm very disappointed because I really wanted them in my new Sierra but way too much wasted space. Those boxes don't come close the bed wall, they block the outlet and the LED bed lighting I just paid $1,250 to have included. So pissed. I'm going to have to find something else.
@@grollins3481 Agreed, but it just looks sloppy stticking. I'm pissed because I really like them but I just can't get past how they block the lights and stick out way too far.
I just installed one of these on my 2021 silverado 2500. I got it used off of a Toyota tundra. I just used some heavy duty zip ties and zip tied it to the tie downs and then put the front 2 screws on the bracket. Mine actually sits in closer to the bed wall doing this.
YES! This is whats holding me from hitting the purchase button. It looks and sounds like a rattler. But? Its easy enough to put some self stick weather stripping in spots where there rubbing / rattling and easy enough to coat the box interior with cloth or something to stop any rattling inside the box.
I had them in my ram 1500 and they were great. Perfect for tools you need to have on the road but keeps them out of the way til you need them. The case is easy to remove incase you need the space but they are pretty much out of the way.
@@andrewsvasquez6458 Padlock probably isn't the right terminology to use. The box comes with a lock assembly that you can install. I show it near the end of the video.
Good job not painting the holes you drilled on a brand new truck Thiss will cause rust and you’re showing people how to install this who will also not paint the holes
@@grollins3481 you soak the screw in paint after painting the hole Or you use silicone around the screw threads so there’s atleast some protection I’m not saying I expect there to be a big pocket of rust you can knock out I’m just saying it’s gonna rust eventually whether it’s noticeable or not Bare metal is bare metal and there’s moisture in the air that will get to it unless you live in Arizona or some extreme example like that
@@grollins3481 and actually now that I think about it Are you sure you don’t have the carbon fiber bed? I know some 2020 GMC models have carbon fiber beds
@@fukyu3739 I have a deep scratch in my left side door that can’t be buffed out hasn’t even surface rusted after 8 years I also have a dent from a kid throwing a rock I. The air and taking the paint completely up on my hood to the primer again no rust You’re just another one of those annoying GM haters that have never owned a GM in their life I take it and listen to Scotty
