Agree. People keep saying how important Homer is on special teams. I;ve never seen him make a play. I have to believe we can get his production elsewhere. He looked terrible at RB in preseason
Travis Homer has showed absolutely nothing since coming here. I mean since Velus got moved to RB, it's added a new dimention to his game. And he returns kicks too. Way more versatile than Homer.
Agreed.....but Velus will not be getting a second contract here.....Wheeler IS a running back with just as much speed and he has special teams experience.....time to develop new players.....put Velus on the practice squad if you have to......because it is a given he will cough up the ball if he gets enough touches.
@@cornpopsrazor5375 Wheeler doesn't return or catch passes, however. and if you're not a starter, you gotta be more versatile and Velus is more versatile than Wheeler.
@@JosephWilkovich So someone else on his college team had 3 returns for touchdowns also named Ian Wheeler? And he does catch passes very well.....have you not watched the preseason? He is basically Velus but he already knows the position and doesn't have butter fingers. His knee is a little banged up right now after the last preseason game but Velus is just another example of people falling in love with their own teams players even when they haven't proven anything except they haven't lived up to their draft status and lastly.....he isn't getting another contract.....talk him up if you are Poles and try and get a 6th or 7th for him at the trade deadline or if some team is decimated and desperate because of injuries. Years ago he would have been our number two receiver ....now ....he isn't even good enough to be on anything more than the practice squad.
Yeah, now show some clips like other channels. I'm kinds over just the graphics. Did the info, I would like some clips and highlights to go with it all.
Hate on me if you want, but I'm rooting for Velus. Maybe he's only here through his initial contract, but he's a better RB then Travis Homer who I think has heavily let down.
The new oc might use him more once the season starts......and in space he lays out great blocking in the run game.....solid on st......when they had a bunch of backs injured last year he took a bunch of carries in one game playing as the rb..not every fb could do that on the fly...dude is versatile and big.
I would keep Austin Reed over Rypien.....a rookie with potential who is on a nothing contract.....Rypien has been in the league for years and has twice as many int's as touchdowns.....experience is overrated as a third qb with sketchy numbers.....if we end up having to play a third stringer for an extended period we are in trouble anyway.
@@BenMueller-ct4by They are not trading him anytime soon unless they are offered something big....why would they? I think he is under contract for at least two more years on a cheap contract......let him develop and you can get more for him later....they should be drafting a qb every year for just that reason.
Hardy over Robinson V Jones over Homer Baskerville over Sewell C Johnson as 5th WR R Stewart over G Stroman jr I would also like to keep Whelan but if you do that, you're carrying Jones as WR/RB or cutting the FB and getting a TE to play there, not sure if that is worth it. Also want to keep the young QB on the practice squad
Considering, the extra game the NFL players added to their schedule. I've been begging the NFL and the NFLPA to increase the 53 man roster size, so less players would get cut and injured players will have time to recover during the NFL grind.
Do the Bears keep a full back? What do the Bears think of that position? If they cut the FB position out they can keep homer and valus. With the effort Hardy has made, I hope he is worthy of being a keeper, but can he play well against first stringers?
Keep Rypien. A very good QB3 is more valuable than a marginal lineman or corner. Plus, it would give the Bears the option of Trading Bagent if they get blown away with an offer.
I tend to think that QB is such an important position that you make a spot on the roster for Brett Rypien. Sure, he might be your QB3 on this roster, but he's a solid backup QB. Cut him and he is gone. No way does he make the practice squad. If our primary QBs remain healthy through half the season, Rypien could potentially be a trade candidate near the deadline. But he's a quality insurance policy at the most important position on the field. Keep him over an extra LB, lineman, or even receiver.
I think if and when Caleb can prove he can weather the storm of a full NFL season. It will create stability for the next 5 years, so Poles can add more talent around each position. The offensive line still looks shaky because the unit will have to build chemistry. I'm looking forward to the final roster cuts and the waiver wire. Football season is finally here.... hehehe
No one will poach Rypien until QBs start to get hurt. It no longer makes sense to keep 3 QBs with the rule allowing you to dress your practice squad QB.
We need that position plsyer more than we need a third QB i wouldn't mind keeping him but not at the expense of a position and keep Hardy and maybe Wheeler
I know one thing. I'd much rather keep Ian Wheeler than have to face him playing for another team. I think he's going to have a highly productive NFL career.
