Like what you said about the Jets, my concerns with the Bears are coaching-related. As the Eagles proved last season, bad play-callers either can't or won't come into a franchise, ask "what worked best last year" & build off of it. Most NFL coaches' egos are far too fragile to ever do that. So we have to judge the current 2 on what they've done. Waldron neither got the running nor passing game going after witnessing Canales do at least one of those things right for a Full Year along with having his RB & WR talent doubled. Eberflus _cancelled_ the play-sets that made the Bears an offensive threat. Twice. & while there are plays he called that I feel were designed to undermine Fields that I don't expect him to call for Williams, we don't know he's capable of calling good plays. For instance 11 minutes into ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0nd2Ac1haEQ.html is from '22. Who was directing Mooney to sit in passing lanes & not move? Even if we say "that's Getsy" it still means Eberflus saw this & didn't recognize what was bad about it. & the fact that an OC can't override an HC & cancel _his play-sets_ implies that *all* the bad ones the Bears reinstated (again, I wish to remind everyone, TWICE) it _HAS_ to mean that the ones that halved the Bears' production were Eberflus'.
@@UsefulPreconceivedNotions Interesting analysis. Only thing I'd say is that Waldron was brought in to develop Caleb Williams and to call the plays. I don't know how good he is, but that's the plan. Eberflus is a defensive guy. I think he will let Waldron call all the plays. I am hoping for a 10-win season, but a lot of that depends on Williams' development.
As a lifelong Bears fan, one thing has always remained true. Nobody scores in Chicago, not the Bears and usually not the other team either. Starting from Papa Bear Halas, defense has been in the Bears DNA. It still wins us plenty of games, but once the stars align and we get an actual offense, look out. Imagine how good the Bears D could be if they got more than 4 downs of rest every possession?
Yea I don’t think we have ever had like years straight of bad defenses. We’ve had years like 2014, 2022 and stuff, but we are good at drafting defense and usually special teams too. Especially linebackers for some reason
Yes but not in this context. English is an insane, confusing language. in sports “regression to the mean” is used a lot when talking about outlying stats that are the result of back luck, or at least perceived that way, and the expectation that they’ll bounce back because the law of averages. like 2022 Diontae Johnson having 147 targets and 0 TDs. Progression usually denotes a natural incline, not to do with luck.
@@dreamer5687 The English language can keep up with my extreme adhd rapid fire thought process. Because its so in depth that there is always a word to rationalize what I'm thinking to others and myself. I speak words that i didn't even know what they meant before cause they matched what I'm trying to say.
I really do think Jaylon Johnson has built up a great resume to contend for top 2 CB in the NFL. I just wanted to add to his praise but this is definitely a Wild Card floor team imo. Division challengers dependent on the play of Caleb.
Nah he's not gonna contend for top 3. He's not better than Sauce, Surtain, or Chavariez Ward. Also he might not even surpass Jaire or Denzel. But hey I would like to proven wrong
@@maskedman5657I think after last season he is definitely better than Jaire, Ward, and Ward. How others sort their 3 best cbs I leave to them but I personally think Surtain is the best Johnson after and then Sauce. But they’re all so marginally close it’s tough to compare.
@@jamaljean7232 Jaire I would understand but I don't see how how you can say he better than Chavarius Ward. Maybe Denzel Ward because he got hurt but he was lights out when he was on. And why not Sauce over Johnson? Gave up 1 TD
Austin Booker is showing an insane amount of potential to be paired with Sweat after the HOF and first preseason games. Dude looks like a baby Crosby or Hutch out on the field
Excellent breakdown! In Chicago, they're much higher on Brisker than they are on Kyler Gordon. Gordon has some injuries and position changes that perhaps set him back a little bit even here, he didn't seem ready to play at the NFL level as a rookie. He definitely made strides in his 2nd year and we'll need to see further improvements in year 3 or we're going to be drafting another CB next year. With Byard being somewhat beyond his prime, drafting or signing another pro bowl caliber safety may be a priority next year or the following.
Tje bears defense can be a top 5 defense if they build off what they were doing last year towards the end And i love eberflus's mindset when asked if he thinks the defense is top 5
I'd be interested to see what you think now after seeing more out of Austin Booker along with picking up Chris Williams and Darrell Taylor. Not that they're gamebreakers but they help a little.
Good video bubby but the part on Booker…”he could disappear and we’ll never hear about him or he could have pro bowl potential”. Way to hedge your bet my guy!!🤣🤣🐻👇
I’ve seen enough of this bears team I got them winning the North in a Dog fight either with Green Bay or Detroit, but I give them the edge cause of the Defense is so vicious.
22:25 “if the pass was accurate”. Thats a pretty accurate pass. Hit 2 hands, enough room for 3 steps. That’s Davante Adams, if that was Rodgers throwing they would’ve said he should’ve caught it.
I dont see how the bears wr room could be outside of the top five and I especially can't see how the te group could be not in the top ten with cole kmet being borderline top ten and gerald everett being a top 2 backup te with isaiah likely
Our defense was very average last year. They whooped backups and were typically picked apart by starters. We got better with sweatz but we didn't add enough in the offseason to go from average to top tier.
Yes they do especially starting from like the past 9 or 10 games is when they actually played decent! The Qbs were like mulle, riddler young, Dobbs a fresh off injury kyler Murray Sam Howell to nanea few!!
I dont recall anyone covering practices this much when Fields was under center but i dont recall hearing of Fields throwing multiple picks every single practice either. He must not be throwing to open recievers. The great secondary excuses are absolute garbage because the recievers have more experience and are already established stars in this league and the secondary, while very good, are extremely young. So the elite secondary is not an excuse for picks every practice. This should be concerning for every Bears fan. How long til we know if trading Fields was a huge mistake? As great as a roster as Poles has built, if he blew it on Williams, this will go down as the biggest bust in NFL history. Not saying it will happen, but if any team has the history for something like that to happen, it would be the Bears at that position for sure
Gervon made the running back and penei sewell miss with that swim around 9:38…. Dudes like an all pro tackle…. Dexter is wayyyyyy better now… scary season boys BearDown
This was a great video but the only thing i have an issue with is the defensive breakdown. Since acquiring montez sweat the team just completely transformed into a top 5 defense and the beginning of the season is making the averages look worse than what they are
Andrew Billings was top 10 and run stop percentage calling him a point below average is a little crazy I’d think he’d be a little above average for a nose guard
I’m hoping that the coaches start Austin Booker he is gonna be a star for the Bears for as long as they can keep him. Booker is gonna be our Nick Anderson of 05 he is a great motor and he can stop the run. Make him a starter Flus!!
No one talks about TS. But he looked great as a rookie. That's why I was mildly surprised to see JJ get a new deal. Bears have 2 possible great young cbs. With Flus' system, he plays a lot of nickle. And with HITS, Bears will be rotating new, young cbs and safeties. That's why Poles 1st 2 high picks were secondary.
This is a defense that finished last season ranked #22 in defense overall. There is absolutely nothing impressive or noteworthy about this team's defense. Why people keep pretending like they're a top defensive team is beyond me.
Let's see,, I've heard this way to many times! I mean eversoft is still the coach, the online is hurt, and what's the difference,, Caleb??? Well, we will see? Show me,, i don't want to hear fire this guy or that guy at week 3! Like the last 3 years,, you could have cleaned house,, but decided to keep all the people that made you lose, so now we live with it till 2025 season at least,, even if we go 0 and for forever
He could if the Bears had quality dt's. Problem is...they don't. Dline will get fixed next year. My guess us 2/3 of the top picks dline. This year? Bailing wire.
If I had to put numbers on the most overrated teams during the off-season. 1. The Texans 2. The Bear 3. The Jets 4. The Lions 5. The Titans But Realistically the Bears probably only win like 8 games.
That would mean they are overrated by one or two games. I have not found a power ranking with them over 15 or a prediction of them over 10 wins. If you look at the schedule as well you would see a very, easy group of teams (especially the out of division games)
@@zackhurwitz9441 Over the Niners? No. Never would say that. But I only say they are a little overrated because obviously they went to the Championship and the Lions fan think for sure that they are going to SB now. That's all. It's not unreasonable for them to go the SB. But I don't think it's as strong as people make it out to be
@@maskedman5657 unfortunately, I'd have to agree with those Detroit fans at this point. They have one of the most complete, well run offenses in the league. Their defense was a liability last year, but they took some high-risk/high-reward signings to address it (Davenport, Reader), along with 2 great CB prospects, which I thought was their biggest weakness last year. Some pivotal mistakes, and bad breaks kept them from a SB. SF has a lot more to prove going into this year. Offensively: Can the offensive line as a whole play better? How do teams play Purdy with a full year of tape, and can he continue to progress? Does the workload catch up with the YAC bros after 3 consecutive seasons of 19-20 games, and each of them already having an injury history? Can Pearsall replace at least an adequate amount of the production they got from Aiyuk? Defensively: Can the run defense return to elite form? Who's going to step in for Greenlaw? Who's the #2 CB, or slot depending on where Lenoir plays?
@@zackhurwitz9441 They have a lot of those Questions with the Lions Defensive Roster too. Jack Campbell was below average last year as a Coverage Linebacker and none of their corners run faster than a 4.4. at least SF knows their aren't the best at corner and plays everything top down. But Lions like to play alot of man. Also Purdy just had an MVP caliber season. Ayuik may not return but their weapons would still be top 3.
The bears are going 4-13. Stop this nonsense. The NFC will end up like this. AZ over PHI, GB over DAL, GB over AZ, Superbowl, KC will make history and edge out GB for the threepeat.
