I did the same for my mom. We lost her 3 years ago and we try to make foods that she liked and listen to songs TOGETHER because if you do it alone it’s harder and saddens you even more.

the earliest we put up our Christmas decorations in the Philippines is in September. We dont have thanksgiving, and halloween is not much a big of a deal than Christmas is for us XD

A tip for getting through the holidays after losing a loved one: honestly just talking about them! Funny stories, silly stories, and even the sad. Laugh, cry and just being around loved ones I think truly helps. Hope you and your family have a lovely time enjoying the holidays! Love from Canada ❤️

I agree. I lost my parents and sister when I was in my 20’s and 30’s. The most important step towards healing was talking about them. I allowed myself to feel the sadness, just a bit at a time and what got me through those really dark days was talking about them. Sharing stories made me feel like they got to live a little longer.

My grandpa passed December 19th 2018. It's starting to get really cold here and my fiance didn't have a lot of winter clothes so my Aunt and Grandma gave him my grandpa's winter clothes bc he's the same size as he was. Today he was wearing one of his jackets and when I hugged him I smelled the jacket and I couldn't help but start balling bc it smelled just like my grandpa. I miss his smell I know that's weird but I do

We lost my grandma 5 years ago to cancer. That first Christmas without her was so hard, especially for my dad because he’s always been close to both his parents. Then my grandpa passed the next day.... you can say the holidays were very difficult for the family. Now I’m pregnant and my moms half of the family won’t speak to me because I’m not married. But my dad said “you know grandma and grandpa would’ve been ecstatic.. I’m sure they are.” and that broke me. Wish they were here.

I think the best thing you can do is keep celebrating and remembering them. My mother never dealt with her brother passing away and for three years we didn't decorate for Christmas (his favorite holiday). This year we are and I can tell she's happier because she stopped pushing those feelings away. I know he's proud of her growth, we all are, and I'm happy that we can really celebrate this year.

Our house 🎄 already has me in the holiday spirit! And with the Xmas movie marathon that Landon and Presley demanded, I don’t think I’m the only one! First Home Alone, then Elf 🧝‍♂️, then Frozen ⛄. I lost my nana when I was little and I’m 22 now and still miss her Especially during the holidays (Christmas was her absolutely favorite 🎄🎅🏼) I have a lot of her tree ornaments every year on my tree in Memory of her that make me feel like she is still here ❤️ I’d say celebrate as if they never left because passed loved ones are always in heaven looking down on us

Oh Bri - what can I tell you? It’s been 23 years since my daddy went to heaven and as I’m typing this the tears are welling up in my eyes. Just allow yourself to feel all of the emotions, and know that in time it does get easier, but the love never goes away, so neither does the pain. However, is that a bad thing? How blessed we are to have amazing fathers who loved us unconditionally and we can in turn pass that along to our families. ❤️ Your home looks amazing. You are creating amazing memories for your children just as your parents did for you. This year of “firsts” is so difficult and I remember we just tried to do things that were out of the ordinary so we didn’t feel the void quite so much. I hope that helps a little bit. You remain in my prayers. God Bless.

Loved this! My dad will have died almost three years ago in January, and we just make sure we talk about him, and focus on what he was all about which is family! We make a lot of his favorite food, watch his favorite movies, and we make sure to acknowledge the grief but not sink into it if that makes sense? We count our blessings, and celebrate WHO he is with, and make the holiday season also all about our Savior because He is the reason for the season! Praying for peace, joy, and comfort for you Brianna and your whole Family! My heart goes out to you!!! Xoxox!

I lost my dad years ago, on December 17. It always made Christmas really hard. Now that I'm older, I remember how much he loved the holidays - and feeling his spirit these times of year brings me peace. Especially when I do things we used to do together, like make a fire or roast marshmallows.

I feel for you, Bri. I lost my dad 2 years ago and the holidays don’t get any easier without him. The only way I get through is to remind myself that he’s still with us even if we can’t see him. It never gets easier, it just becomes a new “normal”. But I have things all around my house to honor him throughout the year.

My grand pop died last April and my mom was setons depressed last Christmas. We invited her over to stay through the night and her waking up with my littles made her feel so much better. Just came across your channel and even though I am older and raised our 3 sons, they have families and I intend to tell my daughter in laws all about you. Thanks so much for your time and effort. You're children are beautiful. I lost my mom and dad 5 years ago and still miss them so much during the holidays that I am grateful to my boys' wives. They do all of the decorating. I was so fortunate to my parents in my life and our sons' lives for so long that and even one grandson was 3 and still remembers them. I have so much to be thankful for. We did lose a child in our family when my older boys were young so we had to go on for our sons and make every holiday fun and happy, just as you are doing. All the best to you.💌

My dad has been gone for quite some time and the best way i keep myself upbeat is doing for others in his honor(donations and volunteering) and in my Christmas decor i use special ornaments that he loved in my decor. My dad loved red roses and white doves and i always incorporate that in my decor... Hope this helps you or anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one

Kiki moore my Dad left on Christmas Eve when I was 3 , he died when I was 14 , my mum died when I was 28 at Christmas, I really know how hard it is to be without them , things do get better sweetie , like all things it takes time , you are in my prayers, Christmas is made easier if you think you are decorating for your dad. And how pleased he would be to see you doing so well the sad times will become less and the happy memories will take over . Sending a big HUG xx

I’m really Sorry for the temporary loss of your dad, it’s so hard to miss someone you’ve loss but be on good cheer less don’t forget that Christmas is a reminder of the birth of our savior and thanks to him you’ll see your dad again! Hey my Grandfather died a couple years ago a couple days before christmas and every year it's been hard but the only thing you can really do is remember that they would want you to be happy and that you can make new holiday traditions with your kids and make them feel that special love

My mom passed 5 years ago and Christmas hasn't been the same. My dad don't make a deal of celebrating it that much but we still celebrate together. The smell of her baking and cooking. I always did the decorating along with my lol sis. I miss her laughter and dad maj by fun of us for being fussy for just that one day but he would enjoy it. Watching movies and sipping wine. She loved colored lights on her tree and kept the traditional red and green with hints of gold but we would decorate our rooms in any color we wanted. Haven't celebrate at my parents house in four years but this year heading home to decorate and have fun in her memory with my dad and my hubby and sibblings. Looking forward to it and bringing flowers to her grave site.

I lost my grandma and grandpa within just over a year of each other. I always take time to remember the aspects they brought to our holidays and the memories we had made. I look at it as a positive thing, and they are always with my family... even if we are grieving. Not really a tip, but just a different outlook on it

I always have a candle with a picture or just a memory of my loved one that I light everyday.. Its a gentle reminder that they are always with me without talking to much about it😌💞

This is the first video of yours I’ve watched on a random search for Christmas decorating ideas. Just wanted to tell you my heart goes out to you on the loss of your dad. My husband’s father passed in April and everyone is dreading how hard the holidays will be this year. I’m praying sweet memories are made despite the sadness - for our family and yours, and anyone else grieving a loss. ❤️

😍 the video Bri, can't believe the year is almost over and my youngest is about to celebrate her 1St 🎂. It's been 10 long years since I lost my grandmother to stay from getting sad family and I always 💖 to think about all the good times we shared together and every funny moment then we all just 😂 about the memories.

When you miss a loved one during the Holidays or in general the best thing to do is things that they loved. I lost my Mom a year and a half ago and Christmas was her favorite day of the year.. She always started decorating right after treat or treating was finished for Christmas.. so now I make sure to decorate and put up her Christmas village and watch her favorite Christmas movies.. I makes me feel like she’s still with me. I hope that helps you even a little 💕

one thing i love to do to help with grieving my family members is i love to incorporate something that reminds me of them in the decor. specifically during the summer time i love using hummingbird decor because they remind me of my great grandmother. and she loved lilac purple so i incorporate purple where i can also lol so everytime i see that decor piece, i can smile and remember that person ❤️ hope this helps

I always incorporate traditions and things that remind me of my loved ones who are gone. We always make the classic jello layered mold salad in honor of my grandma who made it her signature dish even though we teased her about it. I even use her real mold pan. We tell stories that our grandparents shared about their holiday traditions. Talking about and honoring their impact on your life is a wonderful way to have them with you even when utterly heartbroken to be missing them. ❤️

I lost my gram 9 years ago a week before Christmas so i kno the feeling😔and funeral was 2 days after Christmas so its a constant annual reminder...u just laugh and remember all the good times and family gatherings and moments🤗
