Not only did she flip the bird, she also flipped a backwards peace sign, which pretty much means the same thing.

The director who is supposed to cue the camera operators and the on air personality that they are going on air blew it too.

Proper context, and what we get is a bit of mucking around that we’ve all done at work at some point, only not all of us enjoy the privilege of our shenanigans broadcast to the nation live, and recorded for posterity. she did issue an apology on social media, i've read it. it didn't seem that sincere, more jovial, as if she was simply trying to get people off her back. she could've simply , just seconds before the cameras made her live, just sat in her seat looking at the lens. please don't get me wrong, i do have a sense of humour. but i don't find it funny for this reason. even if she only intended it as a private joke, thinking the cameras weren't rolling in those seconds, there could've been elderly, even religious people, even children watching. what if she , accidentally or intentionally, gave those 2 rude gestures just before introducing headlines about people being attacked, injured or killed? what if she gave those 2 rude gestures just before introducing headlines about the 9/11 usa terror attacks or the uk 7/7 bombings? what if , after making those 2 rude gestures, she had to introduce a headline about what happened to poor victoria climbie? or a headline about baby p? again, she gave TWO rude gestures , for the 2 and 1. why not just do a joke in her own home in front of her friends? i'm not sure what disciplinary action was taken against her, if any, but if she wasn't fired for this, then she can count herself extremely undeservedly fortunate indeed. we all make mistakes, but she should've known better. not in front of the camera please, mm
