Let me reiterate one last time regarding use of metal duct! Re- Why I use metal duct when our state and our building and safety do not require metal ducting on residential. California construction guidelines differ from other states. I recommend for those who are still unclear to plz conduct your own research for your satisfactory. I follow CA standards. Thank you for watching my videos👏🏻!
I prefer duct mastic around connection, then inner spiral, then tape, then cable ties. You can spilt the insulation and cut duct shorter to allow enough insulation left to insulate Wye.
Nice video! Quality work . I current run new construction HVAC jobs and install a lot of duct work alone. I was wondering on long trunk runs , do you ever oversize to compensate for length? Like run a long 12" run to two 8" supplys? 12x8x8 insted of 10x8x8? Or 10x6x6 insted of 8x6x6?
What is the state regulations and requirements to do with pride? metal duct is not required in state of California because of high heat and Earthquake, if one day state ask us don’t use flex we will install metal,
I'm a metal fabricator and If you think installing metal duct is prideful work, you're no craftsman at all....are you prideful with legos too? Good video, haters are going to hate...
In my state they fail you for just a little bit of pink or white showing any where 🤣😂😂 all they want to see is foil back the nice shiny silvery part of the flex and or duct wrap and now they make us use nails to pin the nylon strap instead of tying a knot in it even though it doesn't slip the knot
Usually you come after the plumbing rough and before the electrical rough.... There's batting up? They'd make you take all the batting out of the house for the mechanical rough inspection in Georgia and dock your license.
Yes when I start that project the pandemic just started and they weren’t allowing too many people on the job site. only one Trade at the time and before I get to the job everyone else was finished and they called me the last
A little trick I do is slit the outer sheathing of theflex in the straight runs on the ys the length of the y and then you pull it back and that acts as your insulation zip tie in front and in back a little bit of scrim tape and a little bit of duck butter on the scrim tape that thing is going nowhere understandable each state and even each county within each state has their own rules and regulations
We wrap the Ty’s and boxes with insulation. all connections will be covered with R8 insulation , I didn’t get chance to video that part hopefully in next job I will show everything complete
No I don’t do the framing, after I finish installing all my boxes the Framers will do that. you cannot pass inspection unless you have frame on 2 opposite side of the box.
Electrician has to do the wiring, and install the breakers. As an HVAC contractor we cannot do the electrical wiring except the final connection to the A/C system,
California we do duct Leak test or hers test by certified company if the Air like is more then 5 to 10 % we can get certificate for our final inspection, Featured snippet from the web The Home Energy Rating System (HERS) is a set of protocols devised by the California Energy Commission (CEC) in order to verify the indoor air quality and energy efficiency of newly installed heating, ventilation, and cooling (HVAC) equipment.
No thanks, first the roof shingles, then the plumber does his drain waste and vent, then the Hvac rough ,after that the electrician does his rough . So after all that is done you do the insulation. You don’t have enough money to get me to work like that. Just say no !
